raid10 seems pretty pointless for back up, because you lose so much space and i doubt you'll need the advantage to rebuild the pool quickly if one drive fails unless you run it 24/7

they aren't WD Reds, they don't even have ERC enabled, and you can only enable it for a brief moment and then it resets itself for no reason because the firmware is different from WD Red.
someone examined the parts being used in those drives and compared it with parts from internal drives and the difference was huge, they're basically entirely different drives. you thought they're the same drives because they both use the red label, and you got fooled.

Yes. You can further tune it to perform better on your specific setup or leave it as-is, although with a shared HDD seedbox there isn't much improvement to be made over HPS.

Most people don't need P2P internal encodes, why bother with that level of autism? I'd rather be on the trackers that are the source of the material I enjoy, and in that regard (and pretty much all other regards) HDB is more important to me than PTP. Not to take anything away from PTP, but it's simply a repository of content taken from other sources. If I want a bluray ripping and encoding I don't request on PTP, where I would only get an upload if it already existed elsewhere or someone wanted to do a crap handjob encode, but on HDB. Trying to claim the content producing trackers aren't needed because they often take some effort to get into is simple sour grapes. If you don't want to goto the trouble of getting in that's fine and nobody cares but don't try to pretend the tracker is pointless to make yourself feel better about the decision.

your right really. personally comparing various encodes between the reputable internal groups is part of the fun (though if i'm lazy i just put my trust on certain AHD and HDB groups and call it a day) for me. i've learned a lot about what to look at in a video in regards to quality and gotten a new found appreciation for people who actually give enough a shit to make their videos look as best as it can.
