Without US aid the Entente would have got fucked hard by the Central powers and that goes double for WWII. Britain would never have been able to beat Germany in a million years. During the Cold War there was around 25 countries TOTAL across the world that were some form of Democracy. The US isn't perfect and never has been but it's literally been the bulwark against shit tier repressive forms of government for over a century.
