what OP meant is that Tumblr downscales images when you upload them, normally you could access the original size image by putting "_raw" at the end of the URL, but this feature has been silently removed a few days ago

XKIT will probably add an option to download them at some point, assuming they still store the raw files on a publicly available server.

Right Click on the page, select "Inspect", go the the tab "Sources" and search for the image file in the tree view.

Fyi, it's on purpose, since on the other a.tumblr server (which used to work too) you get a MissingKey error. Let's hope this doesn't mean they're preparing to remove all the _raw images to save on disk space.

Why wouldn't they? Literally everyone else does it. Plus there's no tumblr+ to pay for that space and tumblr is such a dead end that introducing it now would be DOA.

For those of you who are unaware: you used to be able to get raw images by altering the URL slightly. Let's compare the resolutions of these images and their URLs together.

Upon opening the image, you'll see this URL.

You get an image which has been resized, the maximum width being 1280 pixels. 1280 is the largest you'll receive normally through Tumblr. What you would do previously to get the full sized image is by altering the URL to look like the following:

Which results in you seeing the raw, full sized image (which is the one provided as this method no longer works). You can see the huge difference in size here.

I really hope they didn't remove the raw feature altogether as some artists post exclusive art to their Tumblr accounts, like sketches or other exclusive pieces. I really wish these fuckers didn't move away from Pixiv ;_;

You seem to be able to access fullres images if they're related to the blog theme, e.g. backgrounds and such. I'm not sure if you can do the same with regular uploads though

not him, but the fact that a lot of basic functionality is hidden behind a paywall (editing images in uploads, search by popularity etc.) is already annoying, and on top of that since it's a nip website it loves to load like it's on dialup
Tumblr has its share of problems but at least you can work around them (the now dead raw image access) or edit them out (those fucking annoying dashboard recommendations)
Tumblr used to have the advantage of not hiding NSFW stuff if you don't have an account, but they changed that policy a while ago

Being under Verizon, dealing with safe mode bullshit, and now getting rid of raw images are pretty huge reasons why tumblr is trash.

I've started to see some artists post directly to boorus now, like Sankaku and Rule34xxx. They'll typically have a tumblr or pixiv as well, but post the full res uncensored version on their booru of choice, and usually leave comments on their own stuff too.

why does that prevent saving the image? i bet that the browser devs are doing this because those companies wanted such features. they even have those javascript features that disables the right click menu and other things that some random website should not be able to control.

And keep in mind that most people use tumblr on their phones where the amount of people that use ad blockers is minuscule.

DeviantArt moderators and staff are generally unpleasant people. Also, DA is known to steal art from artists and sell it without their permission to third parties for merchandising. I wouldn't trust it, really.
Unironically use reddit for art. Artists can post to popular art subreddits or make their own subreddit just to display their work.

v1 API certainly doesn't. It starts at and goes down from there. I assume the v2 API is similar, but it requires authentication so I didn't actually check.
