Web Button General - 1st Addition

You _do_ have a web button made up for your website, dont you Jow Forums?

No? Well, its time you made one and posted it here along with a link to your website. A web button is an 88x31 GIF file. It can be animated if you want. It should be posted on your website and you can post others too. Support your fellow Jow Forums ents by sharing your web buttons.

Example of old web buttons:

>2007

Is wiby really your site?

fucking zoomers thinking 2007 was a long time ago. More like 1997.

>tfw youngins don't know internet hype had already came and went by 1999

Now I want to make a retro website

yes

Why?

Be gone boomers

it's easy as fuck dude

how do I make my site icon as good as the one you made?

Jesus, this brings me back.

The web in general reminds me a little bit of the XFM Ricky Gervais show. Back when it was unscripted, half-baked and without a plan, it was also fresh, novel and interesting. It's just all the same shit nowadays. I want my fucking shitty geocities webpages back where every page had animated GIFs ripped from Diablo 1.

Holy fuck I forgot about this shit.

And the ones that usually came with web rings as well.
I remember finding one web ring in like, 2012, even posted it on here. It was some niche custom computer web ring, people building functional computers from the ground up using off-the-shelf components. Enough to be able to run at the least WinXP or Linux with XFCE.
I lost the link to it. sad times.

Not a bad start, you got the basics down but you need to make it more legible. Also your sound icon could be better. The old windows 95 one would work, or borrow one from the winamp tray icon.

This is such cancer. Why not just use a text link?

you're doing God's work user, wiby is great

a 2kb image is not cancer. The animated ones come in at 20kb. They are more like bumper stickers. Just a fun thing to do, if you can't tell from many of the examples.

because fuck you thats why. dumb cunt

boredom of the current web

thank you, will keep at it

sweet. thanks for the advice, I'll use this for the april fools version of the page

what program can you use to combine a bunch of frames into an animated gif?

Piskel

What font did you use? also what image editor?

I used Georgia font and made it in ms paint, but if you're on linux as your daily driver then I'd recommend pinta, its simple like paint but much better feature wise.

forgot to mention, I saved it as a BMP first, then used irfanview to make it as a gif. mspaint is terrible at compression.

i tried (i dont even have a website, but this is my "internet name")

v2.0, just added a thing

Attached: Mine.gif (88x31, 4K)

yeah, I just went straight to gif

v2.0 looks way better. Now, what if you put the white lines on the top/left sides?

this isnt the 90s anymore.

A link is 200 bytes at most and it's infinitely more readable and usable.
Logic like this invented 10mb web pages

Can you release wiby source I'd love to poke around

>A link is 200 bytes at most and it's infinitely more readable and usable.
I don't think you understand how these are used. They are usually put at the bottom of a webpage, treated like a bumper sticker, for fun. Thats it. Its not meant to replace regular links.

there 3.0

3.1 fixed velocity and pattern

Massive give us a quick rundown on how to make them for those of us who are less artistic

Funny, I thought the same thing. I was like "2007? I haven't seen web buttons like that since the 90s"

>download Piskel
>88x31
>up-left corner white
>down-right corner black/dark
>pixel art a logo/write something in pixelart

Why did buttons die out anyway? People just didn't wanna make them anymore?

because of muh modern and minimalist design

>because of muh modern and minimalist design
Ahh yes, those were the times.

either OP is not who he says he is, or this thread is cursed.

thank you, this is what I wanted

i'm right here, no, im on the fence about it.. some parts of it look pretty spaghettish, specifically the html parser. Needs more cleanup work before I'm comfortable making it open source.

just because you don't think it reflects well on you? I doubt anyone will judge.

There are other reasons also that I have to weigh, so for now it will remain private.

bump

anyone else made one?
