Yeah, I wonder about this myself. Being able to see who made the same posts in a single thread isn't equivalent to losing anonymity if you can't figure out identity outside of that single thread. You're still a droplet in the ocean.

Yeah, I'm a little torn on country flags. They're a neat concept but I think the trend I've seen on my time spent on a lot of different sites is that people will attack anything they can besides your actual post if you give them the chance.

Ultimately I think the best solution is to cultivate a culture where people spend time actually discussing things instead of actually shitflinging, but outside of stringent moderation (which I don't see going well on an imageboard) I don't know how you'd go about that.
