One of my front panel USB 2.0 ports doesn't work.
I reconnected the JUSB1 cable and all that comes up in windows is "Unknown USB device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" this happens with every USB device I've tried.
Already tried all the online pajeet solutions, nothing.
The devices also don't come up in GNU/Linux at all (trying really hard to dodge the stallman copypasta)
Would this be indicative of a faulty as in physically damaged USB port?

Borrow and connect a different usb jumper on the mobo so you know whether it is a hardware fault with the mobo or just the USB 2.0 device. Go from there on purchasing decisions.

It definitely isn't the mobo as I've tried JUSB2 as well and there's no way both of those ports are broken.
Should I try lift the pins inside the USB port with a screwdriver if I've already gone through software troubleshooting?

What the fuck are people thinking when they add fade-in/ fade-out? Are they fucking retarded? Why would I fucking WANT my content to be DENIED from me and compromised for the arbitrary length of time you decided to shit on it with fading? Holy shit I hate this. I've been using "Simple Gallery" on F-Droid but they just added fade-in without the option to disable it, so I really don't have faith in the devs anymore. You don't want anything to be stuck in your fan while it's spinning. That's why there are grills; and I doubt the they are restricting airflow to any significant degree.

You might get the impression that is normal or even acceptable to build classes piece by piece at runtime.

So I've just installed w7 ultimate n using a usb stick. The problem that I'm having right now is that Windows wont recognize neither my Ethernet cable, my external disc drive nor any of my usb sticks anymore. Here is the weird part; my mouse and keyboard still both work in any usb port. I need to update/install drivers for my Ethernet port so that I can activate Windows or I'm dun goofed. Anyone got some advice?

What do I need (hardware and software wise) to make my own NAS? I need at least 2 HDD caddies in the case and ease of access (NFS, SMB and some mobile app to view the folders and maybe access films on it).
I would also like it to be able to transcode movies on the fly for 1080p.

I also have an old Intel NUC, but it's ill-suited as there is no HDD slots.

Just got a warning for torrenting from my isp, Time Warner. I know there was a 6-strike-rule something or other but I'm not really sure how that's doing now. I think it's fair in film, and music, since in those mediums it's about aesthetic. Even in Foobar (a music player), I believe it fades in/ out by default, and that can contribute to user experience being seamless. In the context of for example porn however, in my opinion it just ruins the content. It's not the same as film where the reason you're here is to consume art, where it's free to conform to anything; it's fucking porn, so I want my fucking porn. Porn fading in/ out only makes it harder to see, so it fails at being good porn. The only way to spin fade-ins/outs as ok in porn is to forfeit it making it sexy (read:forfeit it being done to contribute to the porn), and use it as a tool to (possibly) make it a better film that preserves viewer immersion and shit. But in the context of an amateur porn shot, a literally unedited single-camera shot of a girl isn't made sexier by either or both ends of the shot fading in or out, in fact I've actually used ffmpeg to cut out fade-ins/outs just because I'm not trying to deal with that when watching porn. So it's essentially dead content, since it's compromised, and kills my immersion, thus making it fail as porn.

I don't even know why this is even a conversation in the context of an android image viewer. There is no tact involved here when it's just a blanket fade-in applied to all images opened. Let alone that I think they implemented it like shit even when entertaining the thought of this, since it feels they added completely black frames with NO information of YOUR OWN CONTENT YOU'RE TRYING TO VIEW. It's cancer. Maybe film schools tell people that fade-ins/outs on unedited film subconsciously validates viewers somehow, and that can be broadly applied to this. Personally I only see myself being cockblocked from my own content.

Currently i cant find a way to type and watch the feed at the same time. If you go to the chat box it makes a tiny tiny barely viewable video box and then if you go to snap back to the larger video box, it takes 30+ seconds to use

Causes of GPU failure aside from overheating?
My 3 years old GPU suddenly stopped outputting through Displayport, so I had it cleaned and thermal paste changed (still had to switch to HDMI though). But now intensive games freeze not 10 minutes in, and temperatures don't even reach 60 degrees.
I ran Furmark and it was stable at ~70 degrees.

It connects on both OS. But when booted into Windows10 the internet speed is much faster than in linux.
