Poor madshi, his favourite player has no directshow support. XD

>directshow
Not even microsoft wants people to develop using directshow anymore.
docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/desktop/medfound/whats-new-for-media-foundation

I miss nand-chan ;_;

Damn why are foss developers quitting foss development?

Why do you think he or others are done forever? Not uncommon for people to take breaks or work on other things.

Almost one-year break is pretty uncommon for foss devs. Even his blog is dead, it's pretty sad.

No more wm4 AND haasn at the same time IS A TRUE DISASTER.

Bunch of drama queens
I bet you watch anime

The END is near. ;)

What's the next big thing to come in MPV?

my dick

>he doesn't watch anime

>draw a girl
>call it a boy

Could you guys answer a question. I've got a shitty Intel HD 4000. The open source drivers apparently support vulkan. Is it worth using it to get the most performance?

Attached: 1521919205511.jpg (550x550, 147K)

Vulkan support for Haswell is unfinished yet so you should use OpenGL

Use notforlosersdows and d3d11.

No. Such old device should use d3d9.

I can't get the pseudo-gui to show up on manjaro. Did I fuckup something?

no stable release

no installer

Being integrated into VLC :^)

>needing ANY gui
>>>/reddit/ is where you should go and where you should stay

Git is stable and there is an installer for windows

*no stable release installer.exe

>no gui
Into the trash it goes!

Attached: best-girl-dance.gif (200x200, 74K)

Attached: you.jpg (600x600, 57K)

did you install the lua dependencies

But it has a gui.

I've asking this for quite some time, but no one answers.
Is there a way to map a key to load a specific subtitle file?

Attached: mpv-shot0053.png (1280x720, 309K)

I don't know, probably not. I got what was in AUR as aur.archlinux.org/packages/mpv-git/?comments=all

I'll try to install the other mpv, mpv-build-git

Pretty sure you can. But why not set it to use a certain language by default? Or use j to cycle available subs?

now post a screenshot of the options menu

you need to install luajit

Attached: scrot_2018-08-15-14:01:16_1366x768.png (1366x768, 57K)

Ah ok, thanks.

It's difficult to explain, but basically certain site have shitty implementation of the video player so the subs turn out bad, so I use mpv to play the video and I can download the .ass file by looking through the page source, but this means I need to save it then load it to the mpv window.
So in a nutshell I'm trying to cut down some of the steps, I've still haven't found a way to make a save line directly in the page instead of going through the pagge source.

Attached: 1527480148814.jpg (842x1024, 60K)

luajit-git or luajit-2.1?

Anything is better than VLCgay.

>draw a boy
>make it look like girl

best config for watching 720p content on 1440p display? mostly yt and twitch, sometimes anime

Madshi is currently using MPC-BE and nothing else.

Anyone running mpv from cli?
I can't make alias to run mpv and close terminal at the same time.
alias mpv="exec mpv && exit 0"
alias mpv="setsid mpv && exit 0"
^these are not working. Help.

vo=gpu
profile=gpu-hq
scale=ewa_lanczossharp
FSRCNNX or RAVU for filters preferably since they both double luma. ewa_lanczos or haasnsoft for cscale.

how does one apply those filters? when i add SSSR to shaders, it shows up under stats (2), but when I try to do the same with FSRCNXX nothing shows up so I don't even know if it works or not

So what's good replacement for MPV now that devs are quitting ?

I just add
glsl-shaders="~~/shaders/FSRCNNX_x2_8-0-4-1.glsl" but you need to make sure you aren't clearing the shader/filter list with glsl-shaders in a previous line. glsl-shader (note the singular "shader") appends the shader to the list.

If haven't read the manual already I recommend skimming through relevant sections at least.

Is there a thumbnail script for MPV that easily integrates with your existing setup instead of requiring you to change your OSC?

Yes

can you show me how to play online videos on mpv and get .ass flie? I use subtitles for everything and run into subtitle sync problems too. I just get mpv and can help streamline this.

No offense, guys, but your logo sucks, this one is much better and modern

Attached: MPV2.png (300x300, 30K)

...

Thanks for the link senpai.

tfw you still use mpc because the dated ui feels comfy

Attached: 1522261132947.jpg (704x480, 37K)

SMPlayer

There's an addon for firefox
github.com/antoniy/mpv-youtube-dl-binding
And if it doesn't work, I just look around in the page source.

Microsoft: What's new for Media Foundation? Answer: Better copy protection!
Developers: Fuck you, Microsoft.
Result: Everybody keeps using DirectShow.

I still do not have any answer. how do I fix these fucking artifacts under texts in mpv? happens only in mpv

Attached: artifacts.png (1050x590, 837K)

What's your VO?

idk I picked a random config file years ago on github
paste.debian.net/hidden/3d72cf92/

I use mpv because the dated UI feels comfy.
(I used mplayer)

I use mpc for madvr

welp I just updated my packages and the bug is gone now, had an upgrade for x264 and ffmpeg, dunno which of them fucked up. Anyways, is there any way to improve my linked config file? I own a good GPU and would like to get the best rendering

Use default settings.

it's Argon's config, it's retarded a little bit.
proof - github.com/Argon-/mpv-config/blob/master/mpv.conf

idk, got anything better? should I use the 60fps thing?

What 60fps thing? At least update, yours is too old.

sure, mind giving me something up to date?

...

I use mpv but you're retarded not to understand the benefits of media foundation over directshow.

you need --player-operation-mode=pseudo-gui for mpv if you run it from a command line, else it just prints the usage message and exits.
setsid mpv --player-operation-mode=pseudo-gui && exit 0 worked for me.

Is there a way to make mpv/ytdl behave like new pipe?
As in playing the entire channel, prefetching the next video, and playing the next video when it reach the end of current video.

Attached: 4224.png (1993x2000, 3.19M)

So teach me: What are the practical benefits of Media Foundation over DirectShow?

newer = gooder

Attached: 1475096454540.jpg (371x348, 46K)

I thought you just give it the link to playlist.

>apply a config file
>can't tell the difference
Am I an eyelet or a brainlet?

Attached: 1529964641604.jpg (577x575, 47K)

>multitabbed mpv
most stupid idea ever

Neither, to make a difference you need user shaders.

I had some Jow Forums approved shaders I think. According to my output it looked like everthing was running

Maybe I'll try it again and see if I messed something up

just open the video page of the channel's link with mpv you retard

take a before and after screenshot (via external tool) of the same frame. I mostly got stuff for upscaling in my config but changing a few things in there made a world of difference for 720p anime

Why the fuck is there still no functionality to record clips from streaming media? Even VLC can do this.

It's Windows 10 stupid retard.

Assholes without brain like you are very annoying. :(

Not really but I hope they are going to come back soin.

mpv has had a record feature forever
>open livestream with mpv+youtube-dl
>see something i want to clip
>see backwards in cache
>hit keybind alt+r cycle-values record-file "/home/memes/clip.ts" ""
>watch clip
>hit keybind again to stop

>alt+r cycle-values record-file "/home/memes/clip.ts" ""
This saves the cached part to a file?

Out doesn't prefetch videos.

no, it records whatever is on screen without re-encoding it until you hit the keybind again. also it's a good idea to leave a few seconds buffer either side to avoid things getting cut off, as it snaps to key frames. and muxing to mkv after can fix dodgy timestamps.

Read the fucking article or all the other articles that cover it. Wtf learn2search engine.

S E E T H I N G

Depends on the source, display and your settings. Or you may have bad eyes.

>external tool
Why?

Attached: Screenshot_20180816-160015_Firefox.jpg (1829x529, 107K)

Tried out some "recommended" settings seen here and elsewhere, nothing "advanced" just
vo=gpu
scale=ewa_lanczossharp
cscale=ewa_lanczossharp
video-sync=display-resample
interpolation
tscale=oversample
and the result of these settings is that my RX570 uses about 50% of the graphics pipeline and 45% of the texture addresser. This is enough load to make the GPU hot enough to make the fans spin up... which doesn't happen without the fancy settings. What.. is going on, how can these simple settings be so demanding? Anyone care to recommend other less demanding settings? I'm using 4k, btw, which is probably why I'm seeing higher load than resolutionlets.

Attached: mpv-running-radeontop.png (1162x578, 58K)

>scale=ewa_lanczossharp
>cscale=ewa_lanczossharp
Nice memes

>setsid mpv --player-operation-mode=pseudo-gui && exit 0
Now terminal is closing but video isn't playing. Just showing standard text "Drop files or urls..."

Meant for

profile=gpu-hq

use
vo=vaapi
hwdec=vaapi
you're probably better off using hardware decoding with vaapi decoding on that chip. I've got a similar older Intel CPU in my laptop and that's what I use. It can't even play x264 1080p 60fps without it.

how sad it is that this thread is infected with so many utterly stupid losers like these posters. she's using the "open source drivers". Does that sound like a wintoddler with d3d9 and d3d11 or is it obvious it's someone using GNU/Linux?

Because scaling. If you scale things up the mpv screenshot is still the original resolution and you can't compare scaling at all.

mpv --show-profile=gpu-hq :
Profile gpu-hq:
scale=spline36
cscale=spline36
dscale=mitchell
dither-depth=auto
correct-downscaling=yes
sigmoid-upscaling=yes
deband=yes
so why do you recommend this? Is spline36 better?
