Pen and paper

fpbp

Linux with no DE. Just vim and git

A Brain free head

>implying I'm not using the bsd userspace

System 7 with Mac Write Pro.

Is George R. R. Martin still writing with StarOffice?

yeah, that's probably the reason there is nothing coming out of it anymore, i guess he killed his machine and never bothered with a backup.

develop a modicum of discipline you man child

This, pen and paper are nice, but spell check is nicer

Linux on a tiling wm, just display what you need and no more. Of course turn off any social network crapbor anything where you have to respond within an hour or even half a day.

This

Or use emacs as your tiling wm, but that has more learning overhead to it (worth it tho)

He's probably a bad example lol

Surprised nobody suggested using a typewriter.

Plan 9

OS does not matter. Pick any word processor or file editor.

Dim your monitor until you can barely see anything and type away as your stream of consciousness fills the void.

Then turn your monitor back up and edit the shit out of it.

Other method is to start with an outline of the complete scope of your document. Start broad, and add more and more bulletpoints. Then put a paragraph underneath every bulletpoint.

If internet is a distraction, unplug your LAN or disable your wifi.

DOS + WordPerfect 5.1

MS-DOS Wordstar.

Might as well if you're going to type monospaced. A hard copy is as good as two or three digital copies.

Plan 9

Linux because nothing entertaining works in it LOL

had an electrical typewriter with LCD back then.
you could type a couple lines on the screen
then you press a button and it would fire the text on the paper.

What is a good typewriter to get in this day and age?

kys

Any of the major ones will do.

Linux without a DE, and emacs in org-mode.

DOS or templeOS. The lack of networking should be really helpful

Something that works for you, so that you won't be distracted by fixing it.

Case in point, anything besides Arch.

>DOS
>no network

So TempleOS it will be.

GNU/growing_up_and_acting_like_an_adult OS

Haiku Operating System.
