I started reading again my dude.

>James tells me he sometimes feels he's not listening to music, but to his hi-fi system: he's a fan of Kraftwerk and Joy Division, but finds he's been buying "plinky-plonky jazz" because it shows off his equipment. "I would never," he says heavily, "have bought a Diana Krall album unless I was into hi-fi. But play a Diana Krall album on my system…" He blows out his cheeks. "Bloody hell."

>tfw I feel like I will end up this way myself eventually

Is there a way to rip all contents off a mixed mode CD? I have an album that I got from SEA where it is also tagged as an AVCD. It contains 12 tracks, and 6 bonus tracks under the AVCD. Only the 12 tracks are visible when ripping with EAC, but Spotify can see the remaining 6 tracks and was able to play them. Is there any way I can rip those 6 tracks from the AVCD portion of the CD?

Hello I wish to be spoonfed which DAC to buy, can anyone assist? They're for speakers and I don't know what my budget is because I don't know how much non-shit ones cost.

I've built a thrift store Hi F over the last three years for my computer cave room. This was the pinnacle find. Have em paired up with some ProAc Tablettes I got at a Goodwill for 10 bucks. Rotel disc changer and vintage discman, plus a Nakamichi Tape deck and a Technics turntable. All in for 100 bucks.
My main system is a Rotel stack with PSB speakers and a Rega TT. Puttin this one together was more fun through thrifting though.

They were buried in a pile of electronics. I was sifting through and saw 2 binding posts and a sticker above them that said "Made in Great Britain" which made me cream my jeans. Both speakers had a 9.99 price tag on them. I go up to the cashier and she says that price is for the pair. Was a good day. Have found all kinds of cool stuff, but have sold a lot of it.

Also find a lot of these pic related. These little bastards are the most underrated awesome speakers. Weigh a ton, make great near field computer speakers and have awesome imagery.

So what is the absolute best microphone for recording beefy farts with bass? I wanna make farting ASMR videos with realistic sound.

Is "warmth" just incidental low-pass filtering?

What should I look for in good speakers?

going to goodwill tomorrow

A woofer and a tweeter.

flexible woofer with good displacement
intact woofer surrounds
a tweeter
a removable grill
some heft
a solid, dense cabinet

Should I enable Full Dynamic Range on my chromecast audio?
I have this system: pioneer-audiovisual.eu/uk/products/bcs-fs525

What do I need for Kef Q100 to work on a desktop PC? Amp, dac and cables? SMSL SA 50 and fiio d3 enough for it?

would these be good speakers?
bowers-wilkins.com/Speakers/Home_Audio/600_Series/685.html

I'm not sure but a magni 3 is much more powerful than that smsl. I'm sure that and your dac would be a good start.

no
skip everything b&w except the 800 series old or new

so good speakers have to cost 1000+?

>TR 2075
>Nakamichi
>

I don't like Schiit
They're overpriced in Europe. Wasn't that for headphones though?

Who else here was an audiofag spent like 10k+$ on audiomemes then after a few years realized shit doesn't do anything and now hates audiophiles?

Magni 3 has an output for speakers too. I use mine with a pair of lsr305s. £100 isn't too bad considering the only other thing worth getting is an o2 and that's under powered in comparison. If you want to act like a teenager over 'muh brands' then that's your loss.

if you want it to say b&w it then yes

The Q100s are passive speakers you absolute mongoloid

looks like paying at least that much is the only way to get something that can do some bass too. all the cheaper models have ~60hz or higher as the lowest frequency they can play.

you can absolutely get some floorstanding speakers that go well below 40Hz for less than a grand.

maybe but i dont really have the space that those require.

well then better forget about any subbass

would these be better international.kef.com/q350

SA-50 is 50wpc into a 4 ohm load, so at best half that into 8. Not enough for the Q100. If a used integrated/receiver isn't an option maybe look at one of their "160"wpc amps.

>Not enough for the Q100
what makes you think that?
they're 86dB/W@1m

Which isn't efficient. Just because it can make a loud noise doesn't mean it's enough power to actually sound good.

that makes no sense

get a real amp and buy the dac later if you really think that you need it

>pioneer-audiovisual.eu/uk/products/bcs-fs525
the system was made for blu ray playback which is full dynamic range, so, yeah m8

Attached: Klipsch_Reference_-_Lifestyle_14_-_v02_635425018108346000.jpg (800x779, 269K)

yes, but read up on the B&W sound -- they have a signature some people don't like, especially metalheads -- those are well-reviewed though

i upgrade slowly, and always review purchases first, especially if there's a salon

looks like i have to go to the store and listen to the stuff they have then.. thought that those would be good because they could go lower than the others that had similar prices

B&W is known for a "refined and subdued" sound; some people dislike the metal tweeter because it hurts after an hour

You might take a look at Dynaudio Emit 10. They are sometimes available used in like new condition for about $600ish; it's a more powerful speaker

But in your price range, there are literally 100 kinds you could buy and find satisfactory

When will Jow Forums get superior taste in music and hardware?

I have a very similar kenwood receiver. VR-615. Got it as a graduation gift in 2002 from my parents. It was unique that it had a powered sub out. So it used a passive sub. Honestly sounded pretty good for a HTIB. Just recently upgraded it last year. Itll be sent to my garage for music duty in there.

>Reading

People, please stop being so retarded.

I think it's the best use of budget in this case. Get a pair of RCA and 3.5mm to RCA cables and try the line out on whatever devices you have on hand. One of them could sound quite good.

great advice
post your set up, maestro

might be good for outdoors but i wouldn't put that in a living room where people have to look at that ugly thing

Attached: 165852_full.jpg (1920x1440, 720K)

first and foremost
in this hobby you need to have some elementary knowledge about audio technology so you can choose and combine the right equipment.
and second you need to have taste

Holy fuck do those look stupid.
I pity the fool who bought these.

The room has so much impact on the sound that you can't judge how things sounds by listening to them in a different room. And you can't trust people on the internet either, because they either don't know shit or suffer from buyers remorse.
You're a cuck if you can't appreciate the chad design

Attached: lZImjqq.jpg (4656x2620, 3.46M)

focal has really shitty design

It's not just the shape; they didn't have to use fucking glossy orange to make it as obnoxious as possible.

Attached: 1526886845729.png (1027x563, 571K)

I didn't know that. So his amp wouldn't work either then. I was merely suggesting a quick easy upgrade in amp power.

Is there some sort of resource for helping to pick out a set of gear depending on constraints such as price and space? Am looking for some decent magnetically shielded speakers for a CRT desktop setup for $100 or less but am unsure where I'd start.

so what are you guys looking to buy/saving up for

Im just going to be saving up as much money as i can this semester, and come Christmas time, get a really high end vintage sony turntable. Which specific model i don't know yet, but im looking at a bare minimum in the $300 dollar range, and will keep going up budget permitting.
