Think back through all the devices you've owned over the years, user. You've probably bought a few phones and more than likely bought multiple computers.

What are some devices you've bought which you were highly satisfied with and impressed by?
Highly satisfied, as in, couldn't speak highly enough of and would proactively recommend to friends.

I'll start.

1) Surface laptop
This is something I bought more recently, obviously. I absolutely love it. I've previously owned both a Surface Pro and a Surface Book but they were too heavy and had power issues all the time. Also the Book was very expensive.
>build quality is amazing for the price
>very very lightweight
>keyboard is really satisfying to type on and trackpad is giant and responsive
>very fast for what is essentially a netbook
>touch screen is a nice plus (I work as a process analyst and designer)
>battery lasts almost 15 hours
>windows hello is a convenient extra feature
>even the physical design of the thing is like owning a macbook but without shilling out $3k
>only downside I can think of is maybe the amount of ports, that's it

2) Samsung Nokia E63
Back in the day before touchscreen phones were good, the E63 was where it was at. It was truly a flagship phone for its time.
>great build quality
>qwerty keyboard
>Wi-Fi (one of the first phones to have this, I think)
>actual proper 3.5mm jack
>MicroSD port

3) Samsung Galaxy S4
I've owned the S4, S5, S6 Edge and now the S8. The S8 comes close to the S5 but is ruined because of the poor battery
>finger-hover sensor - phone could sense where your finger was about 5cm above the screen, cool ui effects ensued
>IR blaster; this plus the Universal Remote app entertained me all day, also worked as a barcode emulator
>decent quality battery life

Nokia 3310, and I mean this in the most non-meme way possible.

i know its a meme but my old thinkpad i bought for 300€ back in 2008.
its just pure bliss until it died from flexing. i should've treated it better

OP here. I've never owned a thinkpad and I used to think people who went on about them on here all the time were idiots and I simply couldn't see the appeal, but then actually started paying attention to the purported durability and power they come with and realised that really no other laptop on the market seems to be able to come close.

Would absolutely consider a thinkpad as a secondary computer, as I do a lot of After Effects rendering and my Surface Laptop wasn't really built for CPU intensive stuff like that.

I my t430 is coming in the mail today.
Anything specific I need to do or not do to get the most out of it?

get older keyboard meme
get more ram
obviously clean dust inside
install gentoo

Bought a used T410 for my mother in 2015. It held decently, until my own laptop died. I had to borrow it to finish a paper and process some stuff that's a bit CPU intensive, popped an SSD in it, and I can't fucking believe it held up so well. These things are indestructible.

1)Macbook Air 2012
Only reason I bought it was because the Asus laptop I wanted had two different SSD models and you needed to check the box to see whether it's a fast or slow one.
Kinda disliked it at start due MacOS doing things differently but eventually got used to it and started loving to use it, which all lead to...

2)Macbook 2015
I didn't quite need to update from Air but holy fuck, just look at this thing. I had to have it.

>1920x1200 is a perfect fucking resolution for text work
>fanless, so never having to open and clean it
>meme keyboard is actually great, it feels faster and more direct to type on
>larger trackpad is comfy as fuck
>performance is ridiculously nice, having hundreds of tabs open + half a dozen word documents has no effect (though Logic can push it)
>it's small and light without being too small
>the charger is pretty small too, great for traveling
>still 7-8h battery life with normal use 3 years later, takes only 2-3h to charge
>OS got better and better, Mojave is basically perfection with dark mode
Only downside is that connecting older screens needs an adapter. Guess the bezels could be smaller and the webcam a bit better.

I don't think I'd recommend it to most people though, it's a bit pricey for a basic computer, lack of ports is bound to piss off people who connect shit to their pc all the time and the screen might be too small for many. Though for me, it's basically everything I ever wanted.

3)iPhone SE
My lagdroid (Xperia Z3C) started to have erratic performance and I wanted to use Notes in muh Apple botnet, I mean ecosystem.
Since Apple fucked up the design of their other phones with the camera bump, it was the only option.

>it's not a phablet
>it was dirt cheap for flagship performance
>2d battery life
Ironically app store seems more limited compared to Google's and obviously the design/screen size is a bit dated but for the price it's hard not to recommend for everyone who needs a phone.

My only replaced a 4 weeks ago HD 7950, lasted 4 years with an over clock, but sadly it started to flicker and eventually died. It performed well over those years and I will never forget it

My OnePlus 3 is great, I'm planning on using it several more years

>T410
the dell latitude e6-410 is the same way, still use it, is the 410 mean something

Do the following.
>replace the keyboard withe the t420 one
>Upgrade the cpu if you need a better one, I have the 3740qm in mine
>Put an SSD and ram in it. I replaced the disk drive with a terabyte hdd.

If you want a FHD IPS screen you can but it off ebay, it cost me about $150 US

Dell XPS 15

This is the only Windows laptop I've ever owned that was Apple tier in terms of general quality. The only complaint I have is that the rubberized top-side material for the keyboard area will get gross kinda quick. Other than that, fantastic laptop.

iPhone 6
Not much to say considering I'm not deeply attached to my phone, but it works. Replaced the battery a few months ago and still runs overall pretty great. I've noticed, over the last year, that other little gremlins have showed up, the lightning connector gets a little finnicky. At this point, given the age of the phone, I'm just gonna run with it until it completely tanks.

I really liked the iPhone 4
More so than subsequent models.

If you can get a docking station for cheap I'd say it's worth it, assuming you're planning on using a monitor with your laptop. It's convenient, and makes typing at a desk a bit easier because the station has a tilt to it.

A VR headset. Because of that thing, I've had almost 2000 hours of gameplay, made good friends, learned unity and blender, started dating again, and I have a cute gf. Best 400 I have ever spent.

MX518. I bought it without knowing at the time it was held in high regard. Literally still using it today (11-12 years later).

Attached: MX518.jpg (425x425, 22K)

How do you manage the sticky plastic after some time?

You mean the parts on the side of the mouse, like where your thumb would be? I think that layer of plastic has literally worn through to the point where it's no longer "sticky".
I do use a wet wipe once in a while, though.

>HTC 10
My favorite phone by far. Must've had it for 3 years now or so. Fast, sleek, and Android. Even the normies ask me what phone I have and seem impressed when I show them my rooted, s-offed, unlocked phone with a custom ROM installed. Basically I just open Snapchat and they're like "whoaaa so faast"

That and unironically my
>Nintendo Wii
Can play practically any pre-wii game with Homebrew and CFG/Nintendont/one of the million emulators available for Homebrew. Just grab an ISO, throw it on a USB, and load it. Emulate a memory card and you're good to go.

>My Wii is better because it can do emulators
>It's totally better than a PC or a phone/tablet
Nintoddlers everyone

The only electronic device I have ever owned that worked flawlessly over the course of almost a decade was an original Nintendo 3DS.
No glitches, hasn't slowed down, durable as fuck and werks perfectly every single time.

>My Wii is better because it can do emulators
It is tho
>It's totally better than a PC or a phone/tablet
Sitting around a PC Playing Project M on Dolphin with 4 local players is degenerate

Meant for

You do realize you can hook a PC up to your TV right.
Get a USB splitter and whatever controllers you want and have fun.

Used her for a decade on 3-4 different PCs. I loved that little monitor. Sadly, she developed a leak in the flyback transformer and had to be retired.

My Pavilion g7 has had three PSUs and two CPU fans, although that was mostly my fault.

Has to be the 2011 MacBook Pro I got when I graduated high school, that thing was so cool compared to all the other Windows laptops of it's time.

Way sleeker and sexier, and had those little touches Apple used to be know for, like battery LED's at the side of the machine, illuminated keys (hardly any Windows notebooks had them at the time), glowing apple logo, magsafe etc.Could be somewhat upgradeble (putting SSD basically gave new life to the machine) and never in 5 years broke down.
It blew my mind when I needed to do a fresh install of MacOS and I could do it straight from the recovery mode, without any bootable drives or DVD's.
Hands down the best machine I've had, the new one seems kinda dull and doesn't inspire as much confidence.

Also, not sure if it exactly applies to Jow Forums, but my boosted board, it's just so surreal to be able to go 22mph on a plank of wood without any effort, I don't think it'll ever get old/

MI MIX
This phone just looks and feels amazing. Everytime I hold pixel 2 xl I got at work it just feels like a cheap plastic toy. I love large screens and the weight doesn't bother me. Also it has 120GB store which is more then I'll ever need and pretty much every feature I want.
The only thing it's missing is true full screen display but the chin looks better than notch and it's padding is lower than many near-fullscreen phones.

(not my exact machine, but close enough)

Used hard for years and I must have gotten a million hours of use out of the thing.

ipad 2. Man i really got my moneys worth out of that thing. used that thing for years as a daily for everything from watching porn to bringing it on vacations.

Or my s3 mini phone. same story.

that one also.

OG Pebble
used it unitl it died a few months ago

Moto razrz or something like that, the weird one with an x86 chip.
I loved the size and build quality, i dont get why they dont use kevlar anymore

I wouldn't necessarily say couldn't speak highly enough but whatever they did with the original Droid Maxx by Motorola, they should have kept doing it. Every other smartphone I've had has either just shit out through normal usage or the screen has broken. I've had this Maxx since release and I'm using it to type this right now while it's raining. I dunno. Nothing crazy. Only Android 4.4.4 but it's still kicking and it's good enough for daily use. The only real downside is lack of upgradable storage and removable battery but other than that it's the longest lasting phone I've ever owned

I was looking for a laptop for school and happened upon a Surface Pro 4 for about $800, the i5 model with 8gb ram and including the signature cover. It was pretty hard to pass up that deal, especially since it seemed to have similar or better specs than most other laptops in that price range. And every laptop only has 1080p for that price as well.

I'm pretty much in love with it. It never slows down with regular school use (office applications, several browser tabs, spotify, discord), the keyboard feels great to use and the screen is gorgeous.

I have no idea why it was so cheap, considering the same store I bought it from sold the worse model with m3 cpu and 4GB for about $150 more WITHOUT the keyboard cover

all of my disgust goes to you OP

This. Everyday. From the very beginning.

Attached: 26-169-001-05.jpg (640x480, 22K)

1) my first memepad, T60. 2008.
Got me through college no problem. I still have it and it works, a decade later.

2) nokia 3500 classic, 2008, pic related
Indestructible, lasted several years with no failures. Steel frame. Not gay ass aluminum, fucken STEEL. Did everything I needed (calls, SMS, mp3 playback, even some games). Ended up selling it in 2011, the damn thing just kept working forever.

3) seiko 5, 2014
the memepad of watches. Hard to kill, no need for a battery, day of the month/week, does its job and does it well.

Attached: serveimage.jpg (800x600, 72K)

I came to post this. However, it's starting to get old. Whenever I do something a bit that's not just browsing or listening music it heats up a lot and fans are full speed. I'm thinking about changing the thermal paste. If I do that maybe it'll last another 2-3 years. Worth to mention I switched to my gaming computer as the main one.
Also, the Switch is an amazing console. It's a shame Nintendo is retarded and wastes its potential. Waiting until CFW that allows me to play everything up to the Wii, watch Netflix and browse the net.

>over the course of a decade

why are you so full of shit?

Nexus 5 (2013)
Great phone, my first actual smartphone (coming from a blackberry quasi-smartphone). Held up amazing over the years, never slowed down, day 1 android updates, and many people are still using it to this day. Sure, battery life wasn't amazing and neither was the camera, but the amount of developer support for this phone was and is amazing. First experience in rooting and unlocking the bootloader. Unfortunately sold it for a disastrous foray into Windows Phone.

Ratel Performance
Yeah yeah I know, if you're getting a desktop build your own. but I was clueless and wanted a prebuilt without Windows, so System76 was good albeit expensive. I have installed so many operating systems on this thing, from the default Ubuntu into all sorts of Linux distributions, to Free and OpenBSD, macOS, and eventually added a Windows drive because it can play games. Upgraded the graphics card, only issue I had was because I tried to open it myself and i pulled on the wrong side and loosened the CPU cooler, my friend helped me fix that though.

Shimian 1440p 60Hz monitor
Love this thing, bought it in 2013 on the recommendation of Jow Forums for cheap korean monitors, and it has worked great since then. Nice resolution, like having an iMac screen. Sure it's only 60Hz so gamers will laugh at me, but I am not a hardcore gamer and like the desktop space more than 1080p 144Hz.

>Sennheiser CX400-II
Incredible how good these are for the money. Warranty is great as well as the cable getting fuckered eventually is kind of inevitable with any headset.
>11" Macbook Air 2013
Weighs nothing, recently did a clean install + new battery and it's holding up incredibly well.
>t430
Meaty motherfucker that takes anything you throw at it, meme for a reason.
>Casio F91-W
Things will keep running until the heath-death of the universe
