>4 different USB versions on one board
why?
>4 different USB versions on one board
why?
I only see 3.
Also, cost savings
Uhh where's the fourth one
I can only see 3 versions, user.
are you autistic or something op? can you not count to 3?
>4 different USB
>there is only 3 on pic
are you brain damaged OP?
anyway the reason is that ps/2 + 2x usb 2.0 stack is a mass produced part that is cheap to add
same with the ethernet + 2x usb 3.1 gen 1 stack
>MMXVIII
>DVI-D
shiggy diggy doo
still bad enough.
>implying the industry didn't fuck up again
Sometimes you really gotta wonder how the fuck literally everybody uses the same interfaces since eons in the audio world and it just works. Meanwhile computers gonna computers each by their own shitty proprietary means.
And no, I totally get it that specs in computers are constantly more demanding. It's still impressive enough the audio industry didn't fuck up anyways.
>universal serial bus
>not actually universal
>USB 3.0 is now called USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Speed up to 5Gbps)
>USB 3.1 is now called USB 3.1 Gen 2 (Speed up to 10Gbps)
>the industry
>dvi
>vga
>hdmi
Honestly, can we just standardize on HDMI now, kill off vga and dvi pls
but the audio industry uses several connectors too user
TRS, TRRS, XLR 3 & 5 pin, 9 billion neutrik plugs, usb type b, banana plugs, toslink
>HDMI
You mean displayport
>kill off vga and dvi pls
not while embedded still use them, especially vga/d-sub
>3 different port options on one card
wHy??????///???
Because USB forum fucked up and then yielded to jews and fucked up again. Renaming usb 3.1 to usb 3.1 gen 2 and usb 3.0 to usb 3.1 was hilarious.
I miss the old days.
Now that was a GPU
You can plug any USB device into any of those ports and it will work.
That's why. It's up to the user to know what their devices work best on.
The 2.0 ports are probably there purely for a keyboard and mouse to plug into.
It's more complicated than you think. Some of the ports are directly connected to CPU, some are provided by chipset, some are provided by 3rd party controllers connected via PCIe (usually connected to chipset but can also connect to CPU). The varietly in versions depends on CPU, chipset and controllers used by MB vendor.
the bus IS universal tho
Yeah, fine. Now go try hooking up some 50 years old computer equipment to a modern system. Good luck with that. But it's maybe really a bit a stupid comparison.
FU, this meme hits so hard every time.
universally garbage
Nah, VGA's gonna liver forever. Every server, every embedded device, and most budget monitors and GPUs still have VGA ports and it just works so no reason to get rid of it. Fuck HDMI though. I'd rather see DisplayPort take over.
Nah, need VGA to connect meme CRTs to modern computers.
