LarpOS' package manager Gohan and rice configuration manager Dotto are currently under development. Nothing of significance has been written yet, but right now we're laying down the foundations and designing these systems. We're gonna finish these before building up the LFS system. gitgud.io
LarpOS general
So it's nothing ?
Can't wait to see this one bite the dust like the other 300 OSes
Under development by who?
I'm working on the rice configuration manager (Not gonna namefag though) and this other guy roify is doing the package manager. You can talk to use on the freenode irc at chat.freenode.net on #larpdos
Better an attempt than none at all!

This is thread #2.

What happened to CloverOS and how is this any better?
what the fuck is wrong with portage or any of the other existing package managers?
This isn't trying to be like CloverOS, this is a from scratch LFS system. CloverOS is pretty neat though, don't get me wrong, very useful for quick Gentoo installs.
There isn't anything wrong with them, we just wanted to write our own our software so this distro wouldn't just be "dude lfs with musl and a cool screenfetch lmao"
but is there a point to it functionally?
>current year
>having a point
Will this reuse any parts of CloverOS or Lo/g/OS?
Shame to let them go to waste.
would be cool if add 32 bit support
I will make sure to include 32 bit support.
YEEEES 32 BIT SHILLING WORKS YES
What goal is this distro going to accomplish that CloverOS hasn't already done?
well IF you really need it, I will put extra time in compiling shit for 32bit.
It will only get it though once it's stable and I guess your fine with that.
Oh wow, a Jow Forums Linux distro
What a bright idea which has never been attempted before
Except CloverOS
Or LogOS
one example would be the option to compile your own kernel, you don't have to but I was thinking about it since it'd be nice for experienced user.
I will try to provide a good default kernel though.
ye I'll be okay with it just take your time
>thank fren
well the difference being that this is done from scratch.
We are not writing some scripts on top of an existing distro.
So you're reinventing the wheel for no apparent reason?
Why?
I have to go back on programming the package manager but you can join the irc if you want.
(#larpdos on freenode)
whats the plan so far in terms of gtk theme and all that jazz?
we aren't reinventing the wheel like most linux mint like distro's.
We are currently coming up with ideas and discussing shit so its really hard if anyone complains the whole time since this project started like 2 days ago.
you can literally install genkernel and do that yourself on CloverOS. You don't have to rely on the repo maintainer to build your own kernel.
What's wrong with the new wheel?
I'm aware of that and I want to do it in a simpler and easier way.
This was just one example though and as mentioned above we are discussing shit.
link the previous thread so people who werent in the previous bed understand
idk about the name
sorry to say but logo looks pretty gay
we need something HIP, to appeal current boomer generation.
>le xddd boomer haha
the logo is cute, but I think the name should be ComfyOS
>MUH COMFY
end yourself retard
clover is a script, the OS part is the joke.
End yourself Jow Forumsfag spouting unfunny epik boomer memes
Logo user here, I'll improve it when I go back to my place in like 2 days.

Standard Jow Forums pattern. Saw that coming.
If you join the IRC, you can see the discussion about getting stuff accomplished! Right now we're planning stuff out... not too afraid to interact with us on the IRC, right user?
Poll:
Morpheus includes tmux in its ISOs, but not less. This is because tmux is useful anyway, and its scrollback feature makes less redundant.
In this vein we could include emacs in the base installation. Emacs would provide:
* a way to browse man and info pages (replacing man and texinfo)
* a browser (eww) and mail client (rmail)
* an interface to all tools (package managers, etc.) we produce
* a text editor (emacs offers vim keybindings via the evil package, and the built-in viper mode)
* yet another program to waste time ricing
However, some anons may be opposed to this (muh unix philosophy, etc.), so here's a poll:

>the OS part is a joke
So Gentoo is a joke then. Nu-Jow Forums, everyone.
Your opinion is irrelevant, anime retard
Wrong website friend
>go to blacked.com
>be surprised when there's only black dudes
>hahaha le anime is Jow Forums
Sorry buddy, this isn't 2008. Stop avatarfagging
@67333965 (You)
Nice comparison
Look at the banner at the top of the page right now. 80% chance it's anime. Look at how prevalent anime posting is. Look at what the site was founded on. Now, looking at all that, go back to /v/eddit and stay there faggot
The truly ironic part is that you both are arguing over posting anime pictures.
Ask how I know that you never set foot in more than half he boards.
Note: the package manager poll is considered closed, see OP.
There are different topics discussed, not shit, but anime is generally posted everywhere. Again, reddit or may be more suited to your tastes friend
S E E T H I N G
He's not wrong, though.
have a bump
you should consider using guix package manager and the shepherd init system (it's like systemd, but not bloat, and fucking sane)
a fucking worm
>anime poster
Fuck off CIA
We are considering it. We might go that route
What's wrong with worms ? I'll just remove its stripes and it will be perfect
Worms don't have wings. Tbh the logo looks like shit. What happened to that angular original butterfly logo? That shit was cool.
>angular logo was cool
wrong
I'll try to make an angular logowith the same color scheme to see if it fits
Will need command line to install basic software. This will make it a garanteed failure.
Spotted the fag who's never used a Linux distro
the fuck ?
>sudo apt-get install gimp
WHOAH DUDE CALM DOWN WITH THE COMMAND LINE
Bumpie. Don't forget to visit the irc
