Started a new It job in networking AMA

So last month I stared a new job in it. It’s going alright mainly printers. It’s a tiny firm and my coworker is a idiot and my supervisor is a edgy edgelord who’s been in computer science for XX number of years and killed a man who was trying rape someone? I guess AMA.
Pic related is the first page of the book they want me to read.

Get over yourself

how many users?
could you give me a quick rundown of a normal workday? Do you spend all day setting up printers to a static IP and connecting workstations to said printers tru the printer suite?

Why did you post it sideways, retard?

About 50 users
First I handle the Facebook/linked posts I handle that
Then I check the programs out I call it the red list if there are any errors during the night I handle it and send a report to my supervisor. I sometimes set up stuff a couple of times a week.
Last week I was training in firewalls and had to setup a network from scratch... got it done first try. We can connect to workstations to fix problems but we try to avoid it as much as possible. The rest of the time we spend learning and researching random things. My supervisor writes the scripts and my coworker does the stuff I cannot do.
So yeah it’s pretty boreing most of the time but it’s fun when it’s fun.

It’s a phone picture
On the phone it looks good
Have to remember to always take pictures landscape when posting on the Tibeten see-porn forum

I find weird a 50 man operation needs 1 full time IT guy let alone 3. Anyways grats on your new job annon!

Thanks
It’s a weird little company
I barely get paid anything 10hour
I pretend it’s a internship
It makes me feel better about it.

You have to start somewhere. In a way you are lucky you get to learn from other 2 people and also get to share the blame if something disastrous happens.

Yeppers
The old edgy supervisor winks at me too
It’s kinda creepy

You're spending a bizarre amount of time on printers.

IT infrastructure engineer here and we still own printers as an old holdover from years gone by and out of the 1000+ printers my group spends about 15 minutes every 3 weeks on them.

I think the printers are possessed honestly

Tell us the story about your boss killing the guy.

Idk I think he was trying to intimidate me
He was talking about someone trying to rape his daughter and he had a 50 cent solution and shot that fucker in the head.

The place is really empty honestly
Only two rooms in this huge office are being used

That's pretty cool I guess but I don't think that's a story I'd be telling people I just met, in a work environment no less, unless I was a super tryhard.

Jow Forums strips metadata from pics including orientation information.

>reading a shit book
just pirate this nigger's udemy videos and play them at 1.5x speed

Lucky everyone has a cubicle for maximum savings uh.. i mean.. open workspace!

I’m over here like lol ok man
It is pretty bad so far honestly
We only use 2 rooms in that giant area so it’s oretty quiet most of the time
Look at these abandoned 4/3 monitors

what kind of certs do you need for this type of job if any?

I have a degree in drafting and design engineering and a general mathematics
So they told me I did not need the certifications right away
But I am studying for them

It’s kinda creepy here when your by yourself

That is ours advice
Except my coworker is Irish but I could always say he’s drunk

Ah, printer problems

>first week on job
>first thing that everyone bitches to me about was how all the network printers chew up their print jobs
>check print server
>the retard before me configured WSD ports to automatically discover printers
>was like this ever since the center opened up 6 years ago
>changed all printer entries to point directly to IP address
>problem fixed
>everyone still sucks me off to this day

It's usually true anyway.

This office looks awesome. Mine is an open plan piece of shit, and it's big enough for like 80 people in the main space plus three meeting rooms that can each seat like 15 and then a kitchen area adjacent to a fucking cafe-like arrangement of tables with chairs and a ping pong table with more than enough space around it. And the ceiling is maybe 3 meters high. So you basically have this giant, mostly open plan area... And these days you'll typically have maybe 15 people in. It's like a ghost town, you have echoes from everything, islands of desks with monitors on stands that are totally unused, and huge fucking passages between all the islands - you can dance around with your arms stretched out and have zero fear of hitting something.

I want something comfy like yours

I appreciate the sentiment
The office feels like a ghost town papers and pens are still in the desks
It looks like they had to leave over night
Today I watched 3 vine sauce streams because of the lack of work
I like being busy

Bro, you had better use this opportunity to set yourself up with the ultra-cubical. Tons of monitors, your own pimped out IT space

How are you only paid ten an hour? Do you have no degree?

I was thinking about scavenging a couple of those 4/3 monitors for a home brew arcade

I have a math degree and a degree in drafting and design engineering
Im suppose to get paid more after I’m fully trained
