The problem with ClearType is you have to calibrate it to your particular screen.

And 99% on Jow Forums is too brainlet to do any setup/configuration whatsoever, so they just bash it for not looking good out of the box which is easier than following instructions.

macOS has best font rendering, then Ubuntu, then customized Linux, then adefault install of a normal distro, then Windows.

The font rendering isn't even the same between apps. I had to change settings to not have blurry text because it scales random shit up if your resolution is 1080p and your screen isn't huge.

It does that automatically now if you kept windows updated :)

Font-rendering on Linux when properly configured looks great, in my opinion, but aside from that it's infinitely superior to Windows mostly because of fontconfig, which is extremely flexible with user defined per-font settings and aliases.
