Because RTX is not a replacement to the 10XX series, it's a higher tier. They are pretty much the same thing with some ray tracing cores bolted on. They don't give more performance in non-raytracing applications.

Yes but the demand line would shift down as there are now less people in the market, as well as the supply line going up. Therefore it justifies a proce decrease not increase

After the RTX shitshow I have no doubt there is a small scramble to get 1000 series cards, those same cards being sold right now are probably the last 1000 series cards to come off the production line. So supply is dwindling and even if you don't count people scrambling to get cards normal people are still buying 1000 series as that is whats available so there is still a bit of a demand

I waited until after the 20 series shitshow to order my 1080 ti. (got an asus rog strix 1080 ti for $550). I can easily afford a 2080 ti, but I'm not going to pay literally double the price for a card that's 25% faster in the best case. I expect the 10 series prices to hold pretty steady and the 20 series cards to be a joke until the prices come down to $500/600/700 for the 2070/2080/2080 ti
