one is owned by an extremely shitty company
the other one isn't

just serve your project/.git yourself

yes, gitlab is pretty good and allows free private repos.

Gitlab is a significantly better product than Github, and can easily be self-hosted for free if you like.

Only bigots use shit other than github.

It still isn't clear who you mean.

yes it is and you're just pretending, you fucking retard

Git "Webm-for-retards-is-offensive" hub

You're right.
>Gitlab
lost userdata
>Microsoft
has not, so far

As far as I'm concerned, that is the only thing that matters in repo hosters. Other than that, one of them tries to pull some stunt of me, I'll just switch to another hoster. It's not like I owe loyality to any of those fuckbuckets.

I rest my case. Please stop pretending to be retarded.

One company has a history of shit for multiple decades. One hasn't.

1 rupee has been deposited to your Live Account, Pajeet.

Feel free to actually read the references you spam instead of skimming a wiki page. :)
You'll be surprised.

>no argument

Didn't gitlab recently break their UI?

user, the company you're shilling for has its own fucking article category for "criticisms and controversies" and even coined the term "Embrace, extend, and extinguish"

sometimes you're simply objectively wrong, and this is one of those times.

well, you see, github is a platform for civilized people

I use Bitbucket for the free private repos. Am I a bigot?

This board did a number on your reasoning.

they're just hosting websites for your git repos user. It's not that important.

the important stuff is completely platform agnostic.

Most people stayed in hub, from what I know. Of the ones that switched boats, most have the hub repo simply cloning their lab repo. A few just leave the link up to their lab in the old hub readme.

they are still hosting straight white men so no

bitbucket is best famalam

It's worse, but the fact that I can selfhost it if SHTF makes it a better choice for projects I actually care about.

I use Gitlab for private repos. Haven't really missed any feature of GitHub since I switched but it's not like I'm a huge corporation with access control and shit.

This. Why not this? I barely understand git and using the command line is 100x easier to deal with.

Collaboration.

stand alone git only.

grow up kid, you look like a fucking dumbass

>oops hd died

/thread

self hosted git vis ssh is the best

You guys are missing the point. This is for a professional portfolio. I already manage repos locally and through virtual networks.

yes, its docs system is much easier to work with and the interface is much more feature-packed. There's a bit of a learning curve, but GitLab definitely turned out to be a worthwhile upgrade.
