Other than relatively higher power usage compared to the competition, it is a perfect card. Especially for GNU/Linux users.

even your memes are low quality

why are you like this?

means to an end my friend

maybe I decided to use some reverse psychology for maximum certainty

Unironically it's a bit more powerful than the 1060 and has more VRAM for the same price.

Don't tell me you buy Graphics cards because of those GIGA-RAYS meme

Even better :^)

>his graphics card doesn't do any gigarays

I got a 4gb one. Roast me

>Being the only 4 people who fell for it, because all the rest were bought by miners

got my brand new 8gb 580 for ~$340 kangaroo bux, cheapest 6gb 1060 is like $390 and even then its a shit single fan mini card :^)

i believe the card already has

Show me a recent Novidia card with open source gpu drivers so I can switch.

No, i got the one by Gigabyte

I did and it just works.

>gigabyte

ewww

Yeah, Sapphire RX 580 4GB
Good enough for rendering videos and playing vidya, didn't expect my vidya to run at high settings but for most games it works.
Got it for 200 €uropoorbucks, can't complain.

I got the RX480 8GB. It's pretty nice but I don't understand why it has so much VRAM. I can't play Overwatch with high graphics if I want 1440p 144Hz so I'm constantly using about 1GB VRAM. Maybe some pretty single-player game with slow pace could use higher graphics - haven't really tried yet - but I doubt I can ever get even close to 8GB without losing all my FPS first. I'm 100% sure that my next GPU can also have 8GB VRAM and I won't be asking for more at any point. Navi or next Vega is what I'm interested in. We'll see.

Got a MSI RX480 right after launch for $220. It's been serving me well ever since! Huge upgrade over my 750ti that I paid $120 for (used)

rx480 is a strong 1080p card but it's not really built for 144hz 1440p. i had a rx480 in my previous build but i went with a 1070ti for my new 1440p 144hz build. i'm pleased with it and it handles pretty much everything i throw at it.

gf has my rx480 in her rig now and is very happy as she had a gtx760 previously.

Nice, I got my Vega 64 for 550€ shipped one week after release at a local retailer.
At the time GTX 1080 wouldn't go lower than 650€ and 1080Ti lower than 850€.
Thank you based AMD!

The fuck did you buy it from then?

Fell for a Vega 56 out of boredom then sold it to a mate lost 40% of what I paid new
Was a decent card but barely midrange I went back to my gtx 1080 I paid the same for and it was faster.
Had a 390x before that it was a beast but started falling behind at 1080p

Resident evil 7 consumed my all my gtx 1070 8gb vram with that specific option in the game even at 1080p, it depends on the game

>rx480 is a strong 1080p card but it's not really built for 144hz 1440p.
Yeah, I just had to buy a better monitor and went with a nice big 27" 1440p 144Hz. I'm somewhat managing with my GPU but after the new ones get released I'm considering them. I can then pass my current GPU to my girlfriend so we can build a desktop for her too, she currently only has a laptop even though she games with it. This gives me a nice reason to upgrade my own PC without it feeling like wasting money for no reason.

Some games use up all the VRAM you give them.
For example BF1 on Vega 64 will consume all 8GB, but if you use HBCC and give it say 14GB of VRAM it will use 14GB.

Is the Vega 64(Saphire Nitro+) worth it at 550€?

Ffuck

Isn't the rx580 stronger than the 1060?

Check 1080 and 1080Ti prices in your area. If you have a Freesync monitor already and the PSU to support it, I'd say yes.

Some games yes, other games no.
Assuming AMD stick to their Finewine™ thing, it'll typically end up being better than the 1060 in no time.
I'm autistic and don't know what I'm talking about, though, so disregard me desu

Hell no, won't the RTX 2070 cost ~$500?

At least wait until the unavoidable V64 price drop.

RTX 2070 is 700€ or more, depending on country.

Fell for this in December and never looked back.
Paid for itself in just a few months of XMR mining and runs great in all the games I play.

>Absolutely no reason to prove wrong, only lamenting in anguish

I have both an RX 580 and a GTX 1080 Ti. Have the RX 580 in for testing at the moment as I repasted it with Kryonaut.

It just werks bro

Attached: Sapphire_201728163623.jpg (800x800, 92K)

FineWine means the card gets better with age a.k.a. with every driver update. Nvidia cards also get better with driver updates but they get unsupported after a couple years and the bump in performance is way smaller than AMD driver bumps. There have also been Nvidia drivers that caused issues like overheating and were regarded as a step backwards, that's why some say "Nvidia cards age like milk"

nothing wrong with the 580 at all

Not the RX 580, but the Vega.

Need help guys.
Bought a 570 8gb a week ago
and with the newest drivers it's recognized as an 580 and it's causing the no response and recovered bullshit.
older drivers (pre adrenalin) work fine... which wouldn't be a problem if some games wouldn't bitch about it.

Sure some crypto-nut didn't flash the bios, and you purchased a return?
Use gpuz and techpowerup's bios collection to verify the bios.

It's a pretty good meme on Linux, I would happily fall for it again but what I want to know is why the fuck are Vega 64's significantly more expensive than 1080's right now?

bios checks out
the lookup on gpuz goes to the 570 page.

Cryptofaggotry driving up demand.

RX580 4gb (was cheap) and 1440p 75hz with Freesync. Dam boi, that's some value

apparently it's a driver issue... adrenalin drivers to be specific.

I thought they all got completely BTFO a while back though?
I'd buy used if the market was not compromised. With shit like "This card was only used to mine for two days, just trust me you dumb fucks" and "This card is still under one year warranty and in full working order did I mention it was still under warranty and fully working I'm defiantly not implying anything suspicious here" I can't trust any of it.

I'd honestly be okay with a rebrand of the Vega cards just to flush out the bullshit.

>have GTX 1070
>overclock it 2075/9050
>literally no reason to get a new card

Better than a 1060.

Slightly stronger on average

tfw fell for the nvidia meme and now have shitty proprietary drivers for linux

yea it was cheaper than the 1060 when I bought it and has extra 2gb. I won't upgrade by 1080p monitor anytime soon though.

>for the same price

Why do you have a pic of my card?

Damn, I want this card so much.

I'm gonna buy vega64 as soon as prices drop a little bit more. I hope rtx is going to contribute to that end. I have no use for gimped card on linux due to shitty drivers.

The problem is still mining. At some point Vegas become such sure bets for Monero mining that they get snapped up. I want an aftermarket 64 at $499 as well but not sure it's going to happen.

Vega was a mess, more news at 10

Have a 580 8gb but wanted to do 1440p 144hz, are Vega's drivers complete now? I remember hearing that AMD launched an incomplete product or something.

Why you need that card?

Nvidia is just the better option and doesn't suck up energy like the vega cards its ridiculous.

I'm staying clear of Nvidia for the foreseeable future. RTX is just the next way for them to kneecap their own previous cards.

I understand just stating facts they have the better cards. This is coming from someone who has used amd exclusively for the past decade.

I'm specifically asking about the drivers, not price to performance ratio. I already knkw Vega's a house fire.

480 is better

Attached: volt.jpg (843x1498, 182K)

the rx 580 8 gb vs gtx 1060 6gb
what do i buy?

Which ever is cheaper.

the rx 580 is cheaper, but I like emulators

Then get the 1060 only if the games and emulators are Nvidia dependant. But most of the emulators I use are fine with open cl but do some research before buying.

Then get the RX580.

emulators run fine? pcsx2 for example

Even worse

Attached: 71sZs+2W65L._SX425_.jpg (425x425, 38K)

>Buy cheaper RX 580
>Buy cheaper 1920 Freesync monitor
>Get similar performance to GTX 1060
I see no problem here.

rx 560 here
:^)

1060 6gb is still future-proof right? Don't wanna upgrade again.. pff

>anything below an 80 version of a card future proof

Attached: 3ecb4b791e36656cd3da140395e22646e1e9098faa83ab56590b90df4ae97aad.png (585x526, 347K)

I have that exact card running in my Windows VM.
It's great for gaming but updates of any kind are a massive headache because things can break.

Yea they should run perfectly fine.

Emulators barely care your GPU. Most of them run fine on Intel iGPUs.

Is that there last good card?

Yeah it's fine. The 1060 is the only 60 version of a graphics card worth getting. Especially the 6 gb one. I would choose that over upgrading my 570 to a 580.

>bought a 480
Oh no, I fell for the meme of buying a card at a good price that has continued to play games well for years now.

what is on top of your cpu user ? It must be water cooling but what brand ?

no I fell for the r9 390x meme

Attached: 1312826267368.png (154x139, 2K)

NZXT Kraken X52 or X62 by the looks of it

i fell for the 480
crashing like a champ

>Trust me goy, I own a *spit* AMD card and you should choose Nvidia every time for superior performance!
Meanwhile, in the real world...
>So what do our benchmarks reveal? Well, clearly the RX 580 is the better card in more of the games that we've tested, with the AMD card coming on top in seven of our nine tests at 1080p, and every time at 1440p.

>expecting anything from brainlet AMDrones

These are the same drones who bought inferior AMD CPUs for the past ten years before shilling and switching to Ryzen

Vega being literally garbage does not matter, these drones will still buy inferior AMD GPUs

>NZXT Kraken X52 or X62 by the looks of it
I taught the same thing with a quick search but it does not seem to have NZXT logo on top.

It's not unfortunately. The vram is unironically a limitation in some 2017 games and before that. You're better off with a 1070 or an equivalent when the new cards come out

not if you want to use a CRT
