Buy a chair where there's a gap between the chair and the piston.
It would have to make it's way through all of the fairly heavy duty base it's attached to and then there's still a good distance for it to make it to your ass.
Also the higher class chairs have gas pistons that are explosion proof.

This only happens when the piston is filled with pressurized air instead of gas to save a fraction of a cent. Only the cheapest chinkiest chairs are like this, vast majority of cheap chairs use a gas piston.

Ikea chairs have massive steel plates on top of the piston, including Markus.
Recently bought pic related, Ikea ''Järvfjället'', which is very similiar to Markus. The seat was the heaviest part and the steel plate looked so thick that I doubt you could even penetrate it with a small caliber gun.

Office chairs are the worst, after a while they start getting wobbly and noisy, the foam also goes to shit. The last one I used was even worse as the back support was made of that mesh shit, which got weak over time and made my back hurt like fuck.
