Is this flight sim in the repos?
What's it called?
Looks comfy
FlightGear. Was in OpenSUSE repo.
Not sure about Ubuntu, Gentoo and Fedora.
i unironically think nintendo 64 graphics are the pinnacle of video game graphics, idk why people want games to be realist and shit, they are GAMES (and im not a loonix shill, i use win7)
>idk why people want games to be realist and shit, they are GAMES (and im not a loonix shill, i use win7)
Simmers should have more-less realistic physics, while graphics might suck.
Is that Ray Tracing?
what's the canonical version of this?
can't believe no one ever mentions Urban Terror
No mention of the best one? Really comfy. I'm glad I found this peeking around in the repos way back when
Least you could have done was shill XPlane. FlightGear is - how do I say this politely? A flaming crock of garbage that FS2K shits all over?
>not playing wangan midnight maxi tune 4 on linux
>Clouds are cloned over and over again
fuck man, good times playing this
this was when i was a kid before i has steam/cs
Did you ever play Delta Force?
This game
Fucking played it for years when I was younger
it now also has every windows game
Is Proton integrated into Linux Steam now or is it still in beta?
>not a single argument, just a roastie laughting
the absolute state of winfags
nyet
I was playing War Thunder just now but I really should just get rid of this piece of shit.
I'll just leave this here. :)
>believes his so wrong, so idiotic, so ridiculous, so utterly brain-damaged statement is actually worthy of argument by someone with an IQ over 50
Absolute state of (You).
enjoy your brainlet, subhuman, and retirement home OS
>bideogayms
*downloads for Windows*
>steam is the future of linux gam-
>Installing
>not supported atm
I've tried it and it works, I'm assuming that means it doesnt provide a 'make install' for the project itself.
I prefer the Windows version.
>meigs field
Hoo boy, brings back memories.
nice graphics op i think this is the first game i ever palyed on pc LUL
I grew up playing delta force 2 on 56k modem. Great times
too bad its dead or full of m*xicans
it was/is a great game tho, pretty ahead of its time imo
Yes I wish the gamer autism with graphics would stop so games could be good again. But I just stick to emulating old stuff and play like 5 hours a month. I figure by the time I die I'll explore every good game from Wii & earlier. Nothing missed
Is OpenMW any good yet?
x-plane.com
for linux too
sure, but preferably on a system that can handle more than 4 bytes of textures.
That's a nice field you got there. It'd be a shame if something were to happen to it.
flight simulators are literally too complicated for me
>those recommended specs
Holy shid
based and redpilled
>He can't match the recommended specs
Music is fucking great. Puts even professional games to shame.
I got curious so I looked up ze system requirements and I got to say, they are a bit .. odd.
>video card from NVIDIA or AMD with binary blob driver
I'm used to requirements like "nvidia 1060 or amd 580 or better", not .. some card from those brands and you're done. Only difference between Minimum and Recommended is the amount of VRAM on the card. Oh, you also need "broadband" (naturally). I'm fairly sure anyone can match those specs.
No it doesn't. Stop falling for memes.
Don't just leave that there, tell us more. I don't really play games that much, it's rare but I do have some installed. Are there any good free to play Wintendo games that I can use with Steam Play now, or non-free excellent games that run smoothly? I am genuinely curious.
As for non-steam games, I do feel compelled to mention Warzone2000 - which I've actually played a lot - as well as supertux2 and supertuxcart.
These aren't Linux games but if you want to play games then they can be a LOT of fun:
>qmc2+MAME, run all the arcade games, there's tons if you download the torrent collection
>zsnes, many fun Super Nintendo Games
>pcsxr and pcsx2 for Playstation 1 and 2
between these there's enough games to keep you busy for a very long time.
yo niggers, remember to buy the CDs
I unironically agree with this. I think Mario 64 and OoT are an eyesore but the original Animal Crossing proved that N64 graphics could be aesthetic.
DesMume, Mednafen, Retroarch... Linux has emulators out the ass. There's even a partial NES emulator in the "ugly" gstreamer plugins to handle .nsf files by executing the 6502 binary.
>nintendo 64 graphics are the pinnacle of video game graphics
>not dreamcast
absolutely disgusting
>OoT is an eyesore
You don't like triangle tits and lobster claws?
what's wrong with FlightGear
>zsnes
>pcsxr
mednafen
ppsspp
I know exactly what you are speaking about, I installed an emulator on my cell phone and it was a blast playing those games. Considering that the graphics were shitty, I didn't really mind. Not really sure, maybe it is nostalgia speaking from me or my brain is better wired to play those games given that I was a kid in the time of N64 but for some strange reason I had more fun than with today's AAA titles.
pardon my ignorance, but what this called?
Compatibility is pretty good. All the games I play work pretty well.
Out of beta now
Can't read, retard?
>>>/twitter/
fuck im blind
I think if I get disalosioned by the next batch of single player games ill switch to Linux in 2020.
apparently the only games that don't work now are ones with antipiracy and rest work at like 95% performance or 140-200% performance if native versions xplane on Linux gets 240fps and on same hardware gets like 115fps on windows . not sure why. all the benchmarking software like heaven benchmark etc actually perform better on Linux so why windows.
and by antipiracy I mean that denuvo shit steam works thru wine/proton obviously. and you can even launch battle.net games like wow and overwatch and fallout76 will prob work too.
just some shit singleplayer games with denuvo don't work. and maybe some Ubisoft shit that's crap anway
>steam recommending properietary drivers
what an odd name for a game, makes you wonder if the dev spent too much time in the shitter with the old porno mags.
$apt-cache search game
>quake - classic gothic/horror-themed first person shooter
>quake2 - classic science-fiction-themed first person shooter
>kapman - Pac-Man clone
...
Proprietary.
Old thing good, new thing bad.
It is not complicated at all.
devs choose what to put in the specs
>Teeworlds still exist
>It's still played
WEW LADS, LONGER LIFE THAN BF2
apt replaced that as well
It's really not, I'm an admin on one of the main servers and we have good traffic throughout the week and are mostly full (24 players) each night
Wait, what?
Free (GNU) game that runs on GNU/Linux
these days I mostly play pic related on my GNU/Linux system. It's a pretty exciting game, lots of action these days.
GPU passthrough has rendered this meme irrelevant.
Theres no difference to me at this point between launching a frozen Windows VM with passthrough and launching steam natively to play a game.
But there is. Steam registers the Proton layer as a Linux player rather than a Windows one. Be conscious of the market signals you send.
How difficult are flight sims? I'm kind of a brainlet
>GPU passthrough has rendered this meme irrelevant.
yeah, it kind of has. Except.. I don't have a Wintoddler VM and I don't really want one so I haven't setup passthrough. But it does sound like an alternative that's just as good as Proton if you want to play those Wintendo games.
tux racer is unironically good
Here's a good reason:
I don't want to have to use windows to play these games.
I prefer the most native means possible and the performance is only a 17% hit.
I can use it on my fulltime desktop-spec, laptop.
A wrapper is a perfect solution.
I ran passthrough for years but I hate it as you actually still have to setup and use windows, you need a box with multiple GPUs, and paravirt is filthy as hell.
Proton also counts as linux sale and linux use hours.
Nice.
>MUH GAMES

Can't believe he didn't make the cut for Smash Ultimate

Jamaican Bobsled Simulator
Protons new, Im excited for it but Im not holding my breath. Theres a lot of licensing and proprietary DRM concerns for a major company to do that, windows likes its gamer market and its a big part of why most people under 30 stick with them over a macbook.
Pirate a W8 iso and set it up. Takes an hour at most, really easy to do.
In a VM: No reboot or using windows for anything else needed
Passthrough has at worst a 5% performance hit
Paravirt is easy and everything has an iGPU now.
Proton is great but until its proven passthrough still nullifies the NO GAEMS meme because it no longer matters.
I want to be able to run the software I want, regardless of platform. This is a perfectly reasonable thing to want.
Flying a plane is about as hard as driving a car.
Nearly anyone can do it, but you do have to learn.
Learning is also part of the fun, or maybe the only fun.
