Yep, just like the word "pseudo", which is the correct way to pronounce it.

Yes, like the original documentation implies.

how is this relevant?

Like pseudo, but now I think about it, the do is literally the word do, which would make it soo-doo

>pronounce sudo
pseu-DOUGH

pseudo

Since I speak a far superior language natively (Spanish) I don't have to deal with the pronunciation inconsistencies of English and can pronounce sudo the right way (the only way there is actually).

but without the "wood-oh"

S-U-Do

Sway Dough

I..why am I hard

I understand using sudo in multi-user environments where several people need to have that level of access... but what I don't get is using it when you're the only person that accesses the machine. When I need root access I simply switch to a terminal (ctrl-alt-Fn) log in, and su - to root. Why would you NOT do this on your machine that only you use?

sunicorn

Cos you can fuck up bigly as root.

how?

Are you not experienced enough to use root wisely? Are y'all that much of a noob that you can't handle being root without fucking up your machine?

I just don't get it. Why not just learn what NOT to do as root and be responsible with your actions?

superuser do

"su" as in "super" "do" as in "do".

Idk exactly but some functions executed as pure root can fuck shit up. Plus if you were hacked remotely as root they have full access whereby otherwise they would still need the sudo PW to write to the root of the drive. Just an extra level of security.

pseudo

su

super-user do

I don't have sudo installed

This is the only correct answer

su-gon-dees
