How retarded can you get

ubuntu gives me eye cancer

pls post wallpaper

i really like debian stable with lxde. openbox is a very capable wm and the lxde applications are light and simple. i hate tilers and minimal stuff in general. it feels like the time it takes to set it up is never gained back by the very minor efficiency gains. it's like spending 6 months to learn emacs when you could have just used the text editor that came with the de and been done with your work 3 months ago.

unfortunately lxde comes with leafpad and it sucks for coding so i ended up learning vim anyway.

ArchLabs.

gentoo/kde
prove me wrong

>no arguments

>muh sysvinit
>muh rare window manager
And that's why the linux year for desktop will never come.

That shit looks fucking hideous. Kill your self.

Manjaro KDE, aka ManDE.

What if I told you that using something just because it's obscure doesn't make you smart?

This, booting up Ubuntu 11.04 when I was 13 for the first time was something I'll never forget.

8 or gtfo

What about 8 makes it good?

I was in high school when I used it therefore it is the best.

why is debian better than ubuntu?
inb4
>muh freedumbs
>hurr amazon
>durr upstream

i am downloading ubuntu budgie 18.04 iso now cuz unity is ded and ubuntu is comfy

>2018
>using any debian daughter distro that isn't KDE Neon
have fun with your shit DE lol

It's somewhat more annoying to install, because stuff like intel-microcode and intel wifi driver wasn't installed ootb since it's non-free, oh, and you had to enable the repo to get nvidia drivers. but I just like it more, it's comfier.

I like that testing comes with the lxqt desktop as an option during netinstall, and the lxqt project makes git packages for sid. They'd probably work on Ubuntu too.

Ubuntu is fine minus the amazon stuff included in the default Ubuntu. I just like Debian more. Why would you use a derivative when you can use the universal OS?

That said, I'm talking to one of the developers of siduction on IRC and thinking of switching to that. Apparently it's Debian with a few tweaks that they can't do in vanilla debian, making it more for a desktop.

I really do like Unity. It has an elegance comparable to Windows 7 Aero but more mature.

>>>>pube OS

This.
>No clutter, yet not minimalist to the point of useless
>Has limited software in the repo, but you will always find what you need
>Fast and responsive
>Will move to QT soon and support Wayland only once it's truly ready
It's pure desktop bliss.

>you will also found what you need!
says the shill
just use debian/ubuntu if you want software

Arch/whatever suits you.

I miss unity

This but unironically
Also the only distro that works well with optimus

KDE is the comfiest shit ever

Because you never used Ubuntu before they introduced the unity shit

Not OP
I've used ugunbo since 8.04 LTS. I was fucking furious when they dropped Gnome 2 for Unity, but admittedly at the end of it's lifetime Unity was getting pretty comfy, and of course, just like Gnome 2, they killed it off just when it was getting good. I tried just rolling with it and using Ubuntu with Gnome3, but decided that gtk3 is a bad meme and switched to KDE.
>muh thumbnail file picker
KDE 5 also has thumbnails in file picker, probably KDE 4 did too.

I know but I prefer deepin (your ass) to KDE

I had to use ubuntu/unity for a few weeks and I can confirm that it is comfy. But I had to move to Ubuntu Server.

Pic is what I would like to get, but I am too lazy to work on.

this is like some Jow Forumstard's nightmare come to life

OpenSUSE/KDE
Works for me

As someone who used Ubuntu in the Gnome 2 days, I must say I prefer Unity to Gnome 3.

That being said, I've been using mostly i3 of all things since Gnome 3 came out.

>Pic is what I would like to get
Disgusting

it's another le ebin comfy bezwert
I bet if you get fucked in the ass and felt comfy out of it, you must consider it's good

are you retarded these two statements are exclusive

Year of Desktop Linux will never come because of special snowflake DE developers.
It was so simply to go after widely accepted UI, but special snowflake DE seemed so better.

kevin please leave.

Source please? last time i checked Ubuntu is the king of bloat.

ubuntu lts with xfce

Debian / Arch / Fedora w/gnome. The "just werks" stable, civilized choice for the active man. if you run Gentoo I assume you have too much free time. A well supported WM such as i3 is also an alright choice if you don't like DEs.

Manjaro installs a lot of stuff by default, some people like it other people call it bloat. He has ~1000 packages installed and it looks like a fresh installation. A typical Arch setup where you just do a wm would probably be half that, but once you're done installing all the software you need you'll probably end up at Manjaro levels.

Meanwhile on my Debian install, I have 2334 packages. I have room on my SSD for all these packages, and a bunch of steam games and other files. 29% of 141GB. But if you're on a 16GB Chromebook I can see why you'd want to avoid bloat.

Attached: a41bu.gif (500x380, 434K)

I actually unironically really like bsd
install is quick and easy, it's got the packages I need and I'm used to its quirks

wm? theme?

LXQT (although the same, and probably more Haiku looking can be accomplished with Xfce)

wm is Xfwm4

theme is haiku alpha gnome-look.org/p/1016430/
