Need some opinions, lads, should i buy a 1080ti for around 700 bones or should i buy a 2070 for the same? I mean 108ti SHOULD blow it out of the water right? I won't buy a 2080ti cause fuck 1000+ $

>buying nvidia's shit

who are you quoting

Get whatever gets your little gamer stiffy the hardest.

Buy a 1070, there's nothing it can't play

>AMD fags need not apply
What?

Just nab a used one for like $500 off of ebay

Go with the 1080Ti

I mean, i'd consider myself more an AMD fag, but i recently bought a 4k monitor and needed something to drive it, and bought a 1080ti on ebay new for $600 right after the announcement of the 20xx series cards, if you're on 1080p, the 1070/2070 would probably be best, the extra vram of the 1080/2080/ti's make them better for higher resolutions.

wait for turing cards to hit stores, prices for pascal will keep dropping until then, and possibly drop quite a bit more right after that

my nvidia card is paired up with a ryzen 2700x, but i guess ill leave cuz amdfag xd

From what I've been hearing that isn't really whats going to be happening because of ray tracing, they're planning on moving the cards prices around so that the old and new cards fit in some stupid price brackets, the 2070 between the 1080 and 1080ti, the 2080 above the 1080ti below the titan xp, and the 2080ti above the titan xp, whatever.

>tfw sold my 1070 for $700 during the mining craze and just bought myself a new 2080

1080ti, no contest
20 series is the biggest meme on the century and the fact that they're going sell more than 100 saddens me

Where else are you going to go for the kind of performance a 1080ti has?

AMD fags need not apply
Irish Needs not apply
currently at 1080p, but i will change to 4k soon, i just want a card that can handle it.

So the 1080ti is probably the thing you would wanna go for, the higher vram is better for higher resolutions, if you can wait for a bit, see what benchmarks of the 2070 looks like at 4k, nvidia claims that the 2070 and higher will all push 4k, but i don't know, i found the 1080ti for $600 and jumped on it.

>I mean 108ti SHOULD blow it out of the water right?
No, not necessarily. It's not like you're getting some super amazing deal with a 1080 Ti for $700, in like 2 weeks we'll have benchmarks out for the new cards. Just wait and make an informed decision when the information is actually available. It's stupid to rush into a purchase when the new shit is almost out.

you called?

I agree with to wait for turing launch to see if prices drop. They might, they might not. But if you keep your eye out you can find them for under $600 anyways.

2070 won't stand a chance against the 1080 ti without the RTX library and new APIs making use of (ASYNC). Oh, there's also some indication of Turing possibly having full support for FP16 as well.

1080ti beats the 2080 by a small margin
it will certainly blow away the 2070
get the 1080ti and don't fall for the leather chink's lies

Get a 1080ti
The 2070 will be slower and can't run rtx for shit
If a 2080ti struggles to get 1080p 60fps no way will a weaker card be able to run it for shit

I think i'll wait, just to see if the prices will drop after the 20's are out
i don't trust ebay with any electronics.

>buying from the company causing it all

Jesus christ I didn't know /v/ was this retarded.

I don't understand why people have an issue with ebay, i use it basically like amazon at this point, hell, if im looking to buy something on amazon, i check ebay for prices too, I bought a chair on ebay for like $5 cheaper than it was on amazon, and it looks like even without expedited shipping i'll only have been waiting 3 days for it (including sunday) where as the last thing I ordered off amazon (a laptop) didn't ship for over a week and only shipped when i changed the shipping speed from free (10-14 days) to 5-7 days, and it shipped from a warehouse thats like, 50 fucking miles from me.

eBay just has that junkie UI that makes it look like some guy is running it at his basement. That and anyone can reseal items and say they are new.
I do it sometimes
Well most times if you get something that isn't actually new you'd know. Packaging is a big thing in determining that, and ebay still helps people who get things that aren't as described.

wat
1070 and 1080 have same amount of RAM. If anything, bandwidth matters for 4k, and any 2xxx will btfo any 1xxx in 4k because it's gddr6.

Aren't gddr5x and gddr6 relatively similar in terms of specs? and at that point you're talking about older cards being binned based on possible clock speeds, but neither the 1070 or 1080 would be recommended as 4k cards.
