Maybe take a look inside first, dumbnoozle.

>extract here, autodetect subfolder
yet another little thing that makes kde komfy as heck

>extract to subfolder
>archive already had one so now all your files are in thing/thing/

it's like opening pandora's box at that point, mayas well just burn the whole thing down

>extract multiple zips at once, all end up thrown into a single folder rather than in their own respective folders

I swear I've used every 7zip unzip method and it still can't make a seperate folder for each unzip unless you do them one by one

>komfy
karlie pls

that's how windoze right click works

"extract here, autodetect subfolder" should be renamed to just "extract" and be the only option

Ark on GNU/Linux doesn't have this issue.

And this is why I autsitally make a new folder and extract it there

$ bsdtar tf file.zip | head -1

This.

>not just opening the zip file in winrar/7zip/whatever and dragging and dropping the contents where you want them

Who actually hits the extract button anymore?

macOS Mojave doesn't have this problem.

>end up with a folder with another folder inside

how does macos handle this?

7zip's "Extract to xxx/" handles this properly and does not create a folder inside a folder.

7zip's "extract to */" option creates a folder for each archive, even for archives that have just files inside and no folders. Maybe you're using an older version?

Windows doesn't support this properly. Files have to be internally extracted to temporary folder for this, and then moved to your desire destination using default Explorer move files method. 7zip or whatever other program you're using has to be frozen during the process.

mscOS does whatever the zip archive was created as.

>installer extracts files to temp
>doesn't start the install

>extract here, autodetect subfolder
KDE wins again

It would be unintuitive for winbabies expecting the shitty behaviour of their archiver.

Everyone on Windows uses 7zip and the context menu option is called "extract to ".

Are you living in the fucking past?

No, but winbabbys sure are

that's because they zipped the files instead of zipping a folder with the files inside
