repostin Hey guys, smartphone brainlet here. My mother got a used iPhone 4 from my aunt, she asked me to backup the photos/videos before resetting it but the DCIM folder is empty and nothing shows up on iTunes, the phone has no chip in yet and it asks for a 4 number digit to unlock. Is this something I need to ask for in an authorized apple store or my aunt should know it?

To answer your question and reformulate it, I can buy a Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus for $187. This phone runs a Snapdragon 625, 64 GB of storage, 4 GB RAM, a battery of 4000 mAh and a screen of 5.99 inches. The phone is used but seems to be in good conditions. Should I go for it?

it's Huawei, they don't allow bootloaders to be unlocked anymore, and further more they sent out a firmware that detects whether the device is unlocked/rooted and if it is, it will brick the phone until you unroot/lock the bootloader back up

Well no. I said that I wasn't ready to pay £120 for a marginal increase in performance (Honor 9 vs Honor 10).
I like the Honor 9 because it had a good price point (~300£) and a good camera while (I thought) flashable and a good camera.

So are there any phones really similar to the Honor 9? (With a focus on a good camera, must be able to load a custom ROM, and a good price point? about £400 max, prefer less).
It has a SD slot and a headphone jack. How do to figure the camera is worse? I'm pretty certain it takes better photos than the Honor, it even supports GCam out of the box.

The other options available to me are: A used Galaxy J7 Pro for $172 (Exynos 7870, 32GB of storage, 3 GB RAM, a screen of 5.5 inches, and a battery of 3600 mAh) A used Moto G5 Plus for $114 with a burned screen (Snapdragon 625, 32 GB, 3 GB RAM, 5.2 inches of screen, 3000 mAh) A new Redmi Note 5 for $223 (Snapdragon 636, 32GB, 3 GB RAM, 5.99 inches, and 4000 mAh) Is it be worth it to buy the Redmi Note 5 instead of the Redmi 5 Plus? Money is one of the biggest factors here, the fact that it is used doesn't really affect me much.

I'm trying to cope with my BB Motion but it's really not that great. The Sony's buttons seems better placed, more in proportion, can also use the Sony with one hand.
On top of that i can ptobably sell the Motion for 200 bucks.
It's a good phone. Camera is kinda average though.

It only just came out so there isn't any ROMs yet, but they should start becoming available soon. Xiaomi already released kernel sources and there's TWRP available.
