Hey guys, smartphone brainlet here. My mother got a used iPhone 4 from my aunt, she asked me to backup the photos/videos before resetting it but the DCIM folder is empty and nothing shows up on iTunes, the phone has no chip in yet and it asks for a 4 number digit to unlock. Is this something I need to ask for in an authorized apple store or my aunt should know it?

Lol give it back Tyrone, why would you even steal an iphone 4?

xD

Ask your aunt for the pin code

finally a good edition.
blackberryfags btfo

what is the newest/last phone with a real hdmi port on it?

Eh, if I wanted a larger screen that's still portable I'd get a tablet or a phablet. Never did see the need on a normal phone.

I see. But I watch videos more than I play games and lots of them are 16:9 so that's the issue.

next one should be LG G7 One edition

Good job with these user

Huawei Mate 10 / 10 Pro and P20 / P20 Pro and Note 9 can do video out with a USB-C to HDMI adapter.

Some older Android phones do video out through the MicroUSB port with MHL.
gsmarena.com/results.php3?sFreeText=MHL

The newest phone with an actual HDMI port on it is from 2014:

Crazy helpful. Thanks user

5 inch sub 200€ anywhere?

Redmi 5 prime

*4

>Pocophone is $300 / 260€ on Aliexpress
>Still only with pajeet bands
Mex/Col/Uru version fucking when?

To answer your question and reformulate it, I can buy a Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus for $187.
This phone runs a Snapdragon 625, 64 GB of storage, 4 GB RAM, a battery of 4000 mAh and a screen of 5.99 inches.
The phone is used but seems to be in good conditions. Should I go for it?

Would it be an upgrade from my Oneplus X?

You can get new Redmi Note 5 (SD636) for that money
kimovil.com/en/where-to-buy-xiaomi-redmi-note-5-4gb-64gb

Hell no, that's a shit price for a used Redmi 5 Plus. It's $141 NEW here:
kimovil.com/en/where-to-buy-xiaomi-redmi-5-plus4gb-64gb-global

But you should get the Note 5 anyway

Not really, just in battery life the display will be worse your only real upgrade will the og pixle, you'll give up soon enough
t. Ex opx owner

Yeah my battery life is already pretty shit and its heating up a fuckton, thats why im looking for something else, but theres nothing in that screen size range with similar specs really.

Small phones are dead desu, only Sony makes them anymore and they're really expensive

m.gsmarena.com/google_pixel-8346.php

Save up and get a XZ1 Compact for ~300€

£280 for an unlocked Honor 9?

Thoughts? I personally don't think it's worth to pay an £120 (£400 total) for the Honor 10.

i think you could spend your money on a better company

>720p display

Which is the best app to connect computer and phone for file transfer and possibly other shenanigans?

Not a good deal, get a Pocophone instead. Nokia phones are also worth considering, Nokia 8 is available for £259.99, Nokia 7 Plus £279.99.

Whats wrong with the Honor 9?

More than enough on a 4.6" display. Anything more would just be a waste of battery life for no noticeable gain.

it's Huawei, they don't allow bootloaders to be unlocked anymore, and further more they sent out a firmware that detects whether the device is unlocked/rooted and if it is, it will brick the phone until you unroot/lock the bootloader back up

Source?

Any good roms for redmi 5 plus? Does it matter if it's official/unofficial?

xda-developers.com/huawei-stop-providing-bootloader-unlock-codes/

I can still tell the difference
A USB cable

i don't have the source, but there was an article posted here within the past week that had a .ir address that stated they were bricking devices via firmware OTAs

Should I buy a Pocomeme? HMMMMM

I just want something that i can operate with 1 hand and will fit in my pockets

Alternatives to the Honor 9 then?

>A USB cable
But mtp is utter shit, user.

>Alternatives to the Honor 9 then?
Check UK network bands first.

>UK network bands
Why? What do carrier frequencies have to do with an alternative to the Honor 9?

Yes, it's $300 only today

Might want to get Redmi 4 Prime and install LineageOS Extended, a new 7.1.2 rom with security patches. Using it and it's better than all Oreo and nougat roms

>pocophone f1 doesn't support North America's most important LTE band (band 4)

Attached: trash.jpg (700x479, 58K)

KDE connect?

Didn't you mention you didn't want to spend more than £400?

Wait for the LATAM version, it'll have B4.

Seems reasonable, as it was never intended for the US market. As someone explained here, all manufacturers are obligated to pay a fee for their devices even using US network bands.

gizchina.com/2018/09/03/xiaomi-mi-mix-2s-price-plunges-as-we-await-the-mi-mix-3/

How is Mine Mix 2s, will it receive Android P and Q?

>North America
>into the trash it goes
I agree

Well no. I said that I wasn't ready to pay £120 for a marginal increase in performance (Honor 9 vs Honor 10).

I like the Honor 9 because it had a good price point (~300£) and a good camera while (I thought) flashable and a good camera.

Yes, it'll get P and Q.

cant buy right now, middle of the months maybe but i will get it

Was considering a OP6 but Notes have always been interesting to me.
Is it a quality phone? I'm stuck with Samsungs OS right?

Anyone have experience with the Huawei mate se?

>I'm stuck with Samsungs OS right?
Yes, afaik the Snapdragon versions cannot be bootloader unlocked.

when it becomes available I'll bring it to you if you invite me over. I'd love to see uruguay, mx, or col women :(

>Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S Price Plunges
Yesss, I was waiting for this

So are there any phones really similar to the Honor 9? (With a focus on a good camera, must be able to load a custom ROM, and a good price point? about £400 max, prefer less).

Pocophone
alternate.co.uk/Xiaomi/Mi-Mix-2-5-99-Dual-SIM-4G-6GB-64GB-3400mAh-Black-Cell-phone/html/product/1463424

I'm almost set on the Pocophone but if what were saying about the mediocre display is true then maybe I have to start look elsewhere.

How is the display quality of the RN5 in general?

This seems like a significantly worse camera with no SD slot, worse screen, no jack.

Is this a meme phone? I'll try to check out other phones from the company.

...

based.

>This seems like a significantly worse camera with no SD slot, worse screen, no jack.
Are you blind?
gsmarena.com/xiaomi_pocophone_f1-9293.php

It has a SD slot and a headphone jack. How do to figure the camera is worse? I'm pretty certain it takes better photos than the Honor, it even supports GCam out of the box.

My sister asked me to find her a 200€ phone with a good camera.
and i havent been folowing the smartphone lineups since i bought my G5+
Help a user out!

Thanks, lads, but importing the phone would increase its price by a couple hundred dollars.
The other options available to me are:
A used Galaxy J7 Pro for $172 (Exynos 7870, 32GB of storage, 3 GB RAM, a screen of 5.5 inches, and a battery of 3600 mAh)
A used Moto G5 Plus for $114 with a burned screen (Snapdragon 625, 32 GB, 3 GB RAM, 5.2 inches of screen, 3000 mAh)
A new Redmi Note 5 for $223 (Snapdragon 636, 32GB, 3 GB RAM, 5.99 inches, and 4000 mAh)
Is it be worth it to buy the Redmi Note 5 instead of the Redmi 5 Plus? Money is one of the biggest factors here, the fact that it is used doesn't really affect me much.

My Note 4 is dying. I'm considering the LG G6 for 299$ as a replacement. Yes or no?

Thats not what was linked. This is the link he posted, no?
alternate.co.uk/Xiaomi/Mi-Mix-2-5-99-Dual-SIM-4G-6GB-64GB-3400mAh-Black-Cell-phone/html/product/1463424

This one doesnt have an SD card slot or jack according to:
gsmversus.com/huawei-honor-9/xiaomi-mi-mix-2/

Are they the same phone? It doesnt look like it form the pictures.

I don't think that poster realised that you can change the colour balance of the display from settings.

gsmarena.com/xiaomi_pocophone_f1-review-1808p3.php
>Color reproduction can also be very accurate if that's your thing. Going for the 'Standard contrast' mode you'd be getting an average DeltaE of 0.9 (when compared against the sRGB color space) and the most accurate whites of all modes. Out of the box, the Pocophone is in 'Automatic contrast' mode with Default selected in the Default/Warm/Cool setting. That gives an average DeltaE of 5.0 - decent - but with an added punch in all blue hues.

*block your path*

>Is it worth it to buy the Redmi Note 5
Yes, performance is much better, as are the cameras.

Oh yeah, my bad. I thought I had the Pocophone link copy pasted:
www.alternate.co.uk/html/product/1472614

It does look pretty good though, thank you. I might get this phone.

Are there any other online retailers like:
alternate.co.uk/html/product/1472614
Or do you think this is the best price I will get? I checked amazon and they only have some shifty 3rd party seller.

I could check out my local dealers but they're usually 50-100£ more expensive.

Yes, NSA we're jelly of your 5G now fuck off.

Heyoo, any opinions on the Sony ZX1 compact?

> small phone
> big battery given the size
> great specs seemingly
> fingerprint scanner
> can get one new for 199 Euros

I'm trying to cope with my BB Motion but it's really not that great.
The Sony's buttons seems better placed, more in proportion, can also use the Sony with one hand.

On top of that i can ptobably sell the Motion for 200 bucks.

Attached: 1g76pq2.jpg (636x405, 31K)

Clove and Alza have it but it's more expensive
clove.co.uk/pocophone-f1-by-xiaomi
alza.co.uk/xiaomi-pocophone-f1-lte-64gb-gray-d5449281.htm

If you dont mind ordering from China then you can get it for $300 (~£233) Elglobal UK has the red and blue colour options at £250
eglobalcentraluk.com/xiaomi-pocophone-f1-6gb-64gb-dual-sim-sim-free-unlocked-blue.html

It's a good phone. Camera is kinda average though.

Thank you.
Also what are some good custom roms for the Pocophone F1?

Lineage OS doesn't seem to be ported yet.

Can you explain brainlet what is this project treble about? So now if I buy new phone it can get new android for ever like I can install new linux on my 10 years old laptop?

Redmi Note 5
Mi A2/Lite
BQ Aquaris X2
Moto G6+

It only just came out so there isn't any ROMs yet, but they should start becoming available soon. Xiaomi already released kernel sources and there's TWRP available.

xda-developers.com/xiaomi-poco-f1-developer-community/

Thanks, bud, I'll keep it in mind.

Not yet available, but they will be.
github.com/MiCode/Xiaomi_Kernel_OpenSource/tree/dipper-o-oss

I see, thanks.
So I might as well get it now, then flash later?

Mi A2 Lite

if you don't mind waiting a couple of months for ROMs, sure knock yourself out

Yeah. With new Xiaomi phones there is a 720hr wait time to unlock the bootloader, so you wouldn't be able to flash a custom ROM from day one anyway.

Thanks, a bit above the price range where i live but looks like its worth it.

>it even supports GCam out of the box.
Based, if true.

definitely worth it
>AndroidOne
>unlockable bootloader
>GCam ports
do it, she won't regret it

Check it out, it's the Mi Mix 3
