Easy prediction: phones will replace many laptops/home computers. Phones will be able to handle the processing most people do at home (facebook, microsoft word, netflix) and even the tasks some people do at work. Phones will connect to TVs, monitors, and keyboards and devices will emerge like laptops with just a touch screen and keyboards with a place to connect the phone for processing.

Smartphones are indeed as powerful as a laptop even more, but while laptops do have cooling capabilities, phones do not. The CPU has to produce as little waste heat as it cannot be cooled with anything more than the case. Li-ion batteries are another limiting factor as increasingly more current is required in order to switch faster the transistors.
Now, Moore's """law""" was a mere observation of a trend decades ago, however in pop culture it has established itself as this deus ex machina for technology advancement. The average techlets ignore or are unaware of the fact that cost of developing and producing newer iterations grows exponentially and just point to "moore's law" saying that it just werks.

Not here to discuss semantics. That is the term utilized by people when refeering to Moore's observation a long time ago. Want me to call it "Moore's observation"? Also not here to discuss how intel's model of shrinking dye sizes is completely unsustainable. Anyonr could have made such observations a long time ago, even Intel's current cannonlake disaster is to an extent due to this. In regards to phones and laptops, so what? Your qualcomm chips aren't going to be replacing Intel and AMD anytime soon, not only because of lack of cooling capabilities and pure lack of performance but because the interface it utilizes isn't optimal for work. Working from a phone is completely different from working on a computer, and I can tell you that simply by loading up excel on my phone and editting a spreadsheet. It's not the same, not to mean it doesn't have its merits, but the work flow is ultimately disrupted by how incovenient it is to use the touchscreen on a phone. I found myself starting works on a phone, only to then write 90% of them through a computer, too many times to count. It's not a matter of computing power alone, but also a matter of how the medium works. I bet the fags in here don't game on their phones if they have a console or a decent PC available to them. You might argue that is an advantage of phones, but considering mobile games and the experience provided by a phone, unless you are named Zhan Fang Chang, you are likely going to be playing league at home.

It'll be just more evolutions of current platforms. Digital computing already reached an apex on the hardware side. There would be renaissance on the software side where efficiency comes back again.
