>have mpv on my laptop >bring it over to gf's house so that we can watch a movie together with it >she asks me to turn on subtitles >I forgot the keyboard shortcut >start pressing random buttons on the keyboard, completely screwing up the video >gf starts questioning my intellect since I can't turn on subtitles >dumped on the spot
This is why all media players need some kind of GUI. Mpv and similar are for basement dwellers who, since they're NEETs, have enough free time to learn every single keyboard shortcut so they can browse videos 0.5% faster than a normal, more user friendly player like Windows Media Player or iTunes.
Why wouldn't you use something with a GUI then, Mr. Brainlet?
Henry Ward
You don't even need to use the keyboard to turn on subtitles. There's a fucking button right in OSC to do so. If you can't figure that out you must be brain damaged.
Matthew Baker
because you neckbeards keep shilling this garbage and I felt for it.
Angel Green
>dumped on the spot clearly she dodged a bullet
Landon Rogers
>gf starts questioning my intellect since I can't turn on subtitles She is right
>he didn't print out the man pages and carry them in his pocket
John Kelly
cringe
Evan Torres
kek Can't even blame her, you really are behind the bell curve.
Asher Scott
is this bait m8? or are just that really retarded? mpv does have a gui and allows to toggle subs with a click. I didn't even know there was a shortcut for that shit.
Landon Morris
The thing you can interact with is called OSC.
Isaiah Baker
this
Nathaniel Stewart
Good riddance if you can't even press the subtitles button on the OSC or read the fucking software manual. Top kek Jason, top kek.
Joseph Thomas
It's b8 lads. We're posting in a troll thread.
Asher Martinez
which is part of mpv at least
Andrew Ramirez
>lying on the internet It does have a susbtitles button in the gui. Not on my PC so I can't screenshot it.
>mpv users are so dumb they fall for bait and have to pull out their program, load up some shitty anime just to prove some bait wrong
Carson Nguyen
>>mpv users are so dumb they fall for bait and have to pull out their program, load up some shitty anime just to prove some bait wrong >Implying every mpv user isn't watching anime at all times
Dominic Moore
My wife Ilya a cute
Bentley Martinez
>over 12k lines thanks but I'm not printing out the equivalent to a novel just to figure out how to toggle subtitles.
Gavin Smith
What the fuck is wrong with? What is causing someone to spent his freetime on rants about some random media player?
Justin Morris
then you just learn the manpages like a normal person
Nathan Murphy
What's wrong with VLC?
John Jones
everything
Cooper Cooper
Really? I have absolutely no issues with it.
Wyatt Cox
nothing
Carter Howard
for some people it just bloated for just playing music and the occasional video
Jack Rodriguez
i don't know
Charles Walker
>not reading fine print >dumped on spot again >not read >go to prison because he couldn't read
Ugly as shit also >a fucking cone You're almost as bad as footfags
Aaron Davis
based and redpilled
Kayden Morales
how do you check if mpv is using hardware acceleration during playback?
i can launch it from the command line with the hwdec=vdpau parameter, but how do i know if it's on by default when launching mpv by double-clicking on a video file?
Nathan Stewart
set it on mpv.conf check stdout to see if it's working
Christopher Rodriguez
press i to see the stats screen and it will say something like "Video: h264 (hwdec: vdpau)"
Jack Jackson
It has a button on the bottom popup menu for subtitles idiot
Jose Mitchell
>she asks me to turn on subtitles Things that never happened.
Liam Nguyen
thx
Wyatt Diaz
Which build should I use lachs0r or shinchiro one?
Ian Perez
You should install GNU/Linux instead. GNU/Linux mpv has superior color reproduction and video quality. Windows builds are intentionally gimped.
Camden Sanders
That sounded a lot smarter in your head
Robert Baker
I prefer shinchiro. Frequent updates and very handy update.bat
Brandon Mitchell
>This is why all media players need some kind of GUI. That's why it has a PDF manual next to executable.
>be stupidly wrong about your accusations >be proven wrong >make fun of the person proving you wrong to try and save face
Brody Russell
Open Task Manager and check your GPU Video Decode utilization in the Performance tab. If it is anything above 0% it's doing decoding.
Brody Cooper
Remind me the non-meme settings for good playback. This is it, right? profile=gpu-hq scale=ewa_lanczossharp cscale=ewa_lanczossharp interpolation=yes video-sync=display-resample tscale=oversample Do I need to add hwdec settings if I have a GTX1060 card?
>have a Plex server >go to gf's house >can simply cast every obscure movie I want to her TV from home, knowing full well that it will transcode if her TV/device doesn't have all the codecs >she literally cums as I show her my perfectly organized 70s Italian rape exploitation flicks >have to wash out her cum so I don't get hevs
Carson Clark
I don't know about other people but playing hevc on my old ass thinkpad wouldn't work well with vlc, the video would look currupted because it couldn't keep up with the decoding, switched to mpv and it worked perfectly
Isaiah Evans
>you don't need hwdec if your cpu is fast enough I see, thanks. FX6300 should be plenty for 1080p.
