i5 8250U with thunderbolt 3 port(s) on it for later docking external GPU.
Run games significantly better than 6th gen intel chips, have 4 cores and good performance on low power, will run anything paired to an eGPU.
First focus on getting SSDs and shit to run fast and then get an eGPU that suits your desires down the road.
Dell and Lenovo both make decent machines with entry level specs that meet this demand. You MUST have thunderbolt 3 not just USB-C.

gamer laptops are shit, theyl will temperature throttle hard on the cpu and thr keyboards are shit and they are noisy and bulky. thin/small form factor ones are almost unusable and overheat in seconds.
