get the non X for the good cooler and upgrade when Zen2 drops next year (after checking benchmarks ofc)

>upgrade when Zen2 drops
why

4 raspberry pis soldered together

4790k. How is this even a question?

why would you buy 1600x when 2600 exists?

node change, IPC boost, and clock boost.

ryzen and upgrade to zen 2 in a few years, still holding onto my 4770 tho since it still has about 1500x performance

Atom N450

my 4790k is dying and reaching 95 celsius.

i7 4790K:
> 4 year old
> 22nm
> firehouse
> 4c/8t

1600X
> 14nm
> 1 year old
> runs cool
> 6c/12t

2600:
> fresh new
> 12nm
> 6c/12t

This is the most confusing irrelevant comparison of cpus I've ever seen.

At least throw some prices in there. fuck.

7nm HPC by TSMC for ridiculous high clocks
IPC increase ( around 10% )
moar cores rumoured for mainstream AM4 platform
do it for mommy Su

Nice Lisa apu

The 4790k is a really nice chip, but unless you're getting it used for dirt cheap, don't. 1600X is the way to go, preferably a 2600X instead.

2600

So I upgraded from a delidded [email protected] to a [email protected]. They're a little different, but not so much. I'll try and give you a little summary of my experiences so far. I got the 1600 with a motherboard for $200 from microcenter, so it was immediately cheaper than my 4770K I had bought just a year ago. I upgraded because I was getting into PS3 emulation, and the 4770K wasn't cutting it. My 1600 runs much much better than the 4770K did in stuff like Persona 5 and Demon's Souls. In most other games though, they didn't really run all that differently. My 1600 also runs a LOT cooler. Even though my 4770K was delidded, it still peaked out at about 80C when running Persona 5, and higher when stress testing. My 1600 on the other hand peaks out at about 65C under the same load, yet it runs immensely smoother. Bottom line, I'd go for the 1600 if you can.
