just buy ddr3 lmao

>he didn't fall for the "do the opposite of what Jow Forums says" meme

Can someone give me the rundown on why ram prices are so high?

Attached: 1427301692756.png (633x758, 812K)

Phones and tablets use the same ddr4.

zionist mossad conspiracy + reptilians fucking with the upper atmosphere

>buying DDR4
>in 2018
user why cant you just wait for the DDR27 in the year 2033?

This

I'm sure the Chinese being tut-tutted for their price fixing will bring RAM prices down ANY day now

Memory manufacturers don't like increasing fabrication since its very capital intensive to get a new plant in and they are always scared of oversupply causing big losses one they get production rolling. Plus increased demand from phones and shit. Basically jews + normies

>Chinese
>RAM price fixing
It's the Koreans you dumb fuck

This. The Chinese are the good guys. They will save us next year by flooding the market with cheap RAM.

Cheap RAM that blows in a couple of months lmao

>ram with dissipation
why would you need this unless you are an underaged gaymer faggot? even I play some games and there is no need whatsoever for anything else than Kingston Value or similar, got 16GB for 60bucks years ago

>hurr
>durr
>hurr durr

>not having a quad socket G34 mobo
>not having 4 Opterons for a total of 64 cores
>not having dirt cheap DDR3 RAM
>not having a space heater that can also do your computing

Posts specs / speccy / neofetch

so when are they gonna fine samsung and friends for pricefixing?

>why would you need this unless you are an underaged gaymer faggot?
Amen.
I looked for RAM for a Mac Pro last year. All I could find was Gaymer shit with brightly colored custom "dissapators" or heatsinks as we called them.
I looked up the Apple Tech Notes and they said, unless the Mac is being used in high ambient temperatures and heavy workloads, the heatsinks were unnecessary.
So, my 32Gigs or RAM are running naked. No problems in nearly 12 months. Even with multiple VMs running.

>maxresdefault.jpg

apple

>fell for the 16 GB meme
>only on ddr3 but need to upgrade soon

the worse timeline bros

>im stuck with 8GB DDR3 ram
welp im just going to wait until DDR5 comes out hopefully with ZEN3

based and redpilled

collusion between hynix, etc..and no one can do anything about it

>Cheap RAM that blows in a couple of months lmao
>implying there's anything on ram to 'blow' u dumb bitch
go back to reddoot lmao

Chink mobsters fixing prices.

yeah so let them put that shit chinese made ram in the cheap chinese made phones instead of using the quality stuff that I need in my PC

>Bought 64GB in December 2017
>Cost $700
>Wish I bought faster RAM since I have a Threadripper

Because we're waiting for QDR RAM

overclock it

Wrong. It’s the gooks and the Jew who are do this. The chinks are the good guys
reuters.com/article/us-samsung-elec-china/china-launches-dram-chip-price-probe-into-samsung-elec-sk-hynix-and-micron-idUSKCN1J02DI

but we had that user: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RDRAM#PC_main_memory

$450 for 32gb ddr4, fuck.

Most the businesses went into difficult times during 2016, so the smaller manufacturers closed. At the same time, the cloud and ML memes began growing rapidly, and the surviving companies were deeply in debt to the point where they couldn't expand. The leading process development for both DRAM and NAND became very expensive to participate in, which closed out new companies from entering the market. All the older liquidated equipment was barely profitable even if you got it for free, new businesses would need a new competitive IP, and buying out a dying company would have involved buying their debt. A few businesses managed to pick off the stragglers when they finally collapsed, Micron executed this wonderfully, and in a few short years new competitors for the market had been locked out. This environment, coupled with growing demand for GPU's, smartphones in third world countries, and cloud/enterprise competing with consumers for memory pricing has led us to today. There's also the issue where processors and NAND have rapidly increased in effective density, yet DRAM remains, and will remain, entirely planar for quite some time. The only price fixing going on is businesses not wanting to build out additional capacity to almost bankrupt themselves again, especially while they are somewhat deadlocked in their progress for new nodes. There's also somewhat of an arms race to deploy hardware in the cloud, with some companies buying so much hardware they can't even predict when the segment will become profitable, and you are having to compete with those prices as a consumer.

That looks sexy as fuck

+1

>tfw I bought kingston hyperx 16gb DDR3 ram for about the equivalent of 78$ in 2012.
>Ram has never been as cheap since.
I fucking hate it.

At least HDD prices fell to sane levels after the price hike.

>fucking with the upper atmosphere
you mean chemitrails or i this a new conspiracy ?

>Not having dual E5 2670's (which are basically free) for a total of 16 glorious sandybridge cores

Can't wait for the chinks to lower the prices.

Miners, phones, everything uses sillicon nowadays. Price of sillicon is up over the last few years and everything uses RAM. RAM uses semi-specific process nodes so increasing production is very costly.

>meltdown

This, but without le jews meme.

This and skyhenyx halting production to induce low availability and artificially increase it's stock prices and the other 2 that make part in the 85% market share followed.
There are clear evidence of this, to the point that china investigate and fined skyhenyx and is going(the chinks say "until the end of 2018") make their own fabs to supply the china government, to not be affected in the future for such practices. If china start homebrewing, we will see a drop in price in the west, if not, we will, at least, see a drop in price on Ali.
Lets hope the USA or the EU start an actual investigation too(usa will probably do nothing because is a 3 world government controlled directly by corporate money)

HAARP & chemtrails and thats the just the tip of the iceberg

I was just trying to
you seen the price of that shit also ?
fucking mafia cartel cosa nostra RICO-act-riot overdue price-fixing-gouging cunts
and thats just AMZ

I upgraded my 32GB Samsung DDR4 from 2400mhz to 3000mhz today using the Ryzen Master software directly inside Windows 10. Feels good man.

Same here

>bullfail
No thanks

Is it better to bite the bullet on ram prices now? Will the prices keep going up?

>Buy High, Cry Low
you should be on Jow Forums
they literally cannot go higher, idk who even buys it at current prices

No it doesn't.

t. richfag

>8GB DDR3 RAM
>Think my RAM might be fucked because rare crashes and problems putting shit on external storage (no it's not the storage)
>Got like 8 errors via memtest one time but then nothing another time

RAM prices can't go back to normal soon enough but I'm at least glad the prices do seem to be going down at all.

>they literally cannot go higher
Hold my nose

>tfw i only bought 8gb ram when it was cheap.
plis end me.

>all of that horsepower for anime and porn
