Alternative Shell Environments

You can't theme win-

What is your reason to still be on an incomplete linux distro?

A filesystem that doesn't suck.
Call me when you get boot support for anything other than NTFS.

Or, the ability to install on whatever hardware you want.

call me when microsoft allows me to remove windows explorer and internet explorer

Themes are only half the reason I use Linux. The other half is security, stability, and having the core of the OS work exactly how I want it to. The graphical shell in the form of a window manager and other programs isn't as important to me as the tools underneath.

You wanna know why I use Linux?
>native bash and mksh (not a shitty translation layer)
>doesn't spy on everything I do
>doesn't forcibly restart for updates
>doesn't blue screen
>all of my drivers work out of the box
>has XFS support, fast as fuck on solid state drives
>no registry horse shit
>doesn't rot away on the disk with normal use

I haven't used Windows since 98SE because it's just a garbage OS. I've been much happier with the features and stability of Linux and Unix.

if I remember correctly this method isn't permanent
try running cmd and run this command taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
a better method is to overwrite shell32.dll, ExplorerFrame.dll, etc which requires you to disable ownership bullshit

Unironically, what are some good Windows shells?
All the blackbox ones seem to be either old as shit or some script kiddie's interpretation of what a window manager should look like.
Any others that look nice and aren't shit?

Some?

There's only one.
console.sourceforge.net/

It doesn't have an installation program, so use this version:

>incomplete linux distro

It has been years since I came across hardware that wasn't fully supported out of the box by Linux.

> t. when Windows updates and starts BSODing
I'd rather break my OS myself, thank you very much

i haven't had a single windows 10 update since I switched to it. Just get LTSB and google a way to defer updates/disable update downloads completely. did this years ago.

>incomplete linux distro

But I run the universal operating system, it is a complete operating system unto itself.

>linux in reality:
>yay -S literally whatever
>just werks
>run yay -Syu occasionally to update the whole system automatically

>windows in reality:
>download installer online
>unrar it with winrar which contains fucking ads
>run installer
>uncheck all of the spyware boxes because otherwise you get to spend an hour removing all that shit
>it works
>have to go through the same shit in a month when updates come out

but when something goes wrong even with installing a package and you have to uninstall it, good luck trying to figure out where the fuck the components are and how tedious it will be to delete due to file permission bullshit. you gotta delete via terminal, cant delete via GUI file explorer. So it's even more time consuming. in windows you just press start menu keyboard key, type uninst & press enter. boom, uninstall shortcut from control pannel shows up. click uninstall program, done.

This. Not to mention the ridiculous namespace bullshit problems that come up 24/7 when installing packages even from the official shitty app stores they call 'package managers'. which are nothing but android google playstore knockoffs
