There is no reason at all to choose MKV over MP4 for HQ video content.
A. MP4 is 100% capable of 1080p quality.
B. MP4 has support for 5.1+ channel surround sound, just like MKV.
C. MP4 is 100% compatible with almost all media players, modern DVD players, devices, and platforms. MKV is not even supported at all on many platforms, even new ones such as the Xbox One.
D. Windows provides support for thumbnails for MP4 files right out of the box. It cannot show thumbnails for MKV files without the installation of something like Icaros.
E. MKV files are very often needlessly large in size, often at least 50% bigger than MP4s of the same resolution and visual quality.
Please, just stop and give us MP4s, AVI's, or something that actually fucking works!
MP4 is simply an inferior container, you MPEG shill. It doesn't even support embedding soft subtitles.
