Is it 4,999,999

...5000000?

>centimeter
>rip up the paper
>this is MURICA

Simplify the problem so it seems less scary senpai. Small numbers. Figure out how to get the answer for 1/2 scale, thrn apply the same.method for 1/5000000.

1cm = x(1/2)
2cm = x

1cm = x(1/5000000)
5000000cm = x

now 100cm = 1m
1000m = 1kilo meter

Do 100x1000=
100,000cm=1km

So 5000000/100000= 50 km

So answer is 1 real life cm represents 50km on the map

this. if you stressed and dont know on which side to put the x on the equation you can figure it out much easier with 1/2 scale. tink ousside the box

I'm really surprised someone explained that to him instead of just laughing at him.

kys
just kys

or you could be less of a brainlet and say 1cm on map represents 5 000 000 cm

kys

Are you a burger?

That question isn't actually that easy.
It takes a surprising level of induction to figure out that 1cm = (some real map value of 1cm) * (1/5,000,000)
I'm sure the real question also gave you some idea that it wanted it in meters?
Because if not then the answer is that 1cm is equal to 5,000,000cm, which is the correct answer, but not one that is particularly easy to work with when you're talking about maps, so you can convert to 50km.

>t. university mathematics student.

>It takes a surprising level of induction to figure out that 1cm = (some real map value of 1cm) * (1/5,000,000)
Are you retarded? We learned that in 5th grade Geography before we were even allowed to look at maps

Dude, I bet if you took a sample size of the population only 30% would get the question right.
As computer scientists we generally take being able to do this kind of thing for granted, but a vast majority of the population can't do this.
Relatively speaking this problem is actually moderately difficult.

What did you answer OP ?

Based and smartpilled

it's a straight-up brainlet filter problem

>cant do basic algebra
>managed to get a masters

The absolute state of America

Probably less than 30%, at least not in a timely fashion.

I didn't answer, I had only two minute per questions.
After that there was other questions like:

4 rials = 3458 rais
34 rais = 7 jihads

To wage the Holy War against the USA Apu calculated he needs 477 jihads to pay his suicide bombers, but Apu only has rials.

How many rials will Apu give to the clock-makers?

Wow holy shit hahahahahahaha
Don't worry about it user sometimes people choke. Even though I work as an enterprise software developer I choked when someone asked me the difference between them

>That question isn't actually that easy.
it is

>>Have to some basic test for job
anyone else get angry when asked basic or obvious shit by morons or just me?

I hate dealing with HR and people who cant figure out things based on other answers you've told them

The answer is 5 000 000 cm.

>a sample size of the population
That's always a bad idea, but a sample of people with non diploma mill STEM education should overwhelmingly pass this shit.

It's obviously just 5 megacentimeter .

a lot of people are retarded when it comes to maths, especially when they don't use any daily

(cont'd)
BTW you can divide by 100 for cm->m to get to the SI base unit for convenience in further calculations.

Since the prefixes are spaced by a factor of 1000 and the next smaller one from mega- is kilo-, ergo 50 kilometer. Absolutely triival.

477 jihad needed, so find out equivalent in rais. then convert it to rials.

Step 1: work out some equivalences with the given data
34 rais = 7 jihads
>1 jihad = 34/7 rais ---use this for step 2

4 rials = 3458 rais
>4/3458 rials = 1 rais ---use this for step 3

step 2: apply unit conversion
>477 jihads = ___ rais
>we know 1 jihad = 34/7 rais
>477jihad * ___ = ___ rais
>477jihad * ((34/7) rais)/(1jihad) = 2316.86 rais

Step 3: now convert 2316.86 rais to rails
>we know 1 rais = 4/3458 rials
>2316.86 rais * ___ = ___ rials
>2316.86 rais * (4/3458 rials)/1rai = 2.68 rails

so answer is, apu needs to pay 2.68 rails

Checks out.

It's literally means 1cm on map is x cm irl
What's hard

also, adding more to this is not a difficult thing to do. the only time it becomes hard is when they give you a time limit, which is just artificial difficulty. If you had practiced the method to get some muscle memory beforehand you'd be fine. at the end of the day this is simple unit conversion. we just never use that shit outside of tests b/c we're used to typing x unit to y unit on search bar and we get the answer instantly. so our brains aren't used to calculating shit after so much conditioning

Attached: tux tard 1.png (167x128, 25K)

If you can't calculate kolgomorov complexity, that is fine - you're surely just not in the related field.

But THIS is something you should be able to do in 6th grade or so at the latest.
If you can't into SI units or this very simple kind of multiplication, you'll possibly not even be able to grasp the most basic numerical facts from some spec sheet, scientific publication or whatever else.
Or not numerically understand how fast walking is in relation to riding a bike if one is expressed in m/s and the other in km/h.

It's really ridiculous if your education system can't at least teach that much. They even try to do this much in the lowest tier of schooling here.

All you have to do is go from simple to easy. you know 1m = 100cm

find out how to properly convert it by keeping track of units. ie. find value of 2m

2m * ____ = ____cm

2m * (100cm / 1m) = 200cm

the m's cancel out and you are left with cm as the unit, so you know this formula will work for the seemingly harder problem. it's a matter of figuring out the method --> applying it

Half the population has a double digit IQ. It's not that it takes a surprising amount of brain power to solve this. What is surprising is how fucking retarded the most intelligent known species is. Of the millions of species on this planet the most intelligent struggles with reading a map. At the rate Western Civilization is getting blacked it will likely get much worse in your lifetime.

> At the rate Western Civilization is getting blacked
What has that to do with black skin? The average other skin color person is equally lazy to bother to at least superficially understand what they're using / relying on daily and then some more.

another proof that compsci are for brainlet

Or this question is not intuitive to answer.
Which it isn't.

>this question is not intuitive to answer
This is extremely easy and intuitive to answer.

1cm on a 1/5,000,000 scale map is just representing 5,000,000cm.

I never saw Jow Forums as congregation of geniuses, but holy shit, THIS is a problem? No wonder they needed that idiot filter in the test.
