Why do I have to learn about gates. This doesn’t even have anything to do with programming. I hate computers now
Why do I have to learn about gates. This doesn’t even have anything to do with programming. I hate computers now
>logic has nothing to do with computers
Jump ship now, you'll never make it.
if you don't think transistor gates are interesting despite being practically useless in programming get the fuck off my board normie
>he fell for the cs meme
Jump ship now, you don't want to make it.
unironically this
there's more to life
>tfw suicide sounds more appealing than learning a skill or trade
But trades are cool. I'm gonna learn welding.
I bet you like Python OP
Fuck you. You just made me laugh in the middle of a cafe like an autistic retard.
This.
I am guessing OP is one of those entitled milennial types that want everything laid at their feet with no effort
>in the middle of a cafe
no one would have noticed
I now know where you're from, crowded there isn't it?
Problem is that he doesn't actually like computers. Too many fucking normies go into Computer Science because they want to make apps or they just like the idea of making a lot of money.
These are the same people that have never used Linux in their lives too.
Let's see,
1) It's the substrate that builds the actual device you are programming.
2) They physical manifestations of the boolean logic that you use every minute of every day while programming.
I really do want to laugh in your face for being this dumb. I also look forward to seeing your post about how discrete math has nothing to do with computer science or programming.
>falling for the CS degree meme
he has tons to do with programming
>I hate computers now
>now
soon
Everybody likes computers nobody likes programming them. Same with video games, same with music
>Programming is literally taking human readable code and putting it through an interpreter or compiler so it's converted into machine code telling the machine a set of instructions in 1 and 0, on and off, open and closed, etc so it operates said gates
>Nothing to do with programming
You're a pajeet, aren't you?
You like services provided by computers but not actually fiddling with grub or trying out different distros.
most likely aka 99% unless he's specifically interested and seeks out a low level programming job then his job will be writing code in an IDE
not doing any low level or CE shit
>Why do I have to learn about gates.
Because the truth must be heard.
His business practices were atrocious.
The number of businesses he destroyed in establishing his monoculture is alarming.
God damn you're an idiot. Boolean logic is woven deeply through computer science, and simple gates are a great way to learn it. Do you want to make 200MB javashit applications that stutter on a high end desktop computer, or do you want to make actually nice things?
he stunk. he wore those sweaters all the time and he never showered - he fucking stunk.
Just die. Please just die.
Anything you make in the future will be horrible, and chances are, unless you an hero immediately, I might have to look at it someday.
Do me and the rest of the world a favor and suck an exhaust pipe.

Let me guess, OP is some 18-year-old kid who thinks he's gonna make the next Facebook or Steam or iPhone and become a bazillionaire because his boomer parents and relatives always thought of him as the "computer genius" of the family.
>his boomer parents and relatives always thought of him as the "computer genius" of the family.
I'm sure a lot of us went through those compliments top kek
Same. Being able to compile a "hello world" (or these days, making "hello world" appear in a Bootstrap template) blows the average normie's mind, hence the unwarranted praise they'll give any mildly curious kid who can figure that shit out. The sooner OP either learns CS isn't some meme cakewalk and accepts some humility and hard work ahead, or changes into some worthless liberal arts major instead, the better.
Unlike OP, I went into programming cause I liked computers. I grabbed books and absorbed everything. How they work, how the business started, the programming languages we've been through, joy I never had to touch assembly, and the fact we take a lot of shit for granted.
I've had people later unironically call me a hacker for typing "dir" into a command line
the bar is lower than you think
Fucking around installing different OS's doesn't mean shit. No one cares. It requires the technical knowledge of making a boot usb and clicking next a couple times.
Congrats you're lower than a pajeet.
Logic gates have everything to do with programming you retard. This is toddler stuff anyway. Just drop out.
As someone who has only dabbled in programming for a couple months. Why should i not like python?
Doesn't change the fact that he's wrong. It absolutely has everything to do with programming. And regardless of what he'll be doing for work, that doesn't mean he shouldn't be *taught* that stuff. People look at education like it's nothing more than job training and should only cover the parts relevant to their future career, but University is for more than just job training. If that's all you want, do one of those mail order or online courses.
>this is what the average zoomer shitposter actually thinks
If this is "peak youth intelligence" imagine your """"workforce""" years.
Brainlet detected
Linux isn't terribly difficult to install for most mainstream distros.
t. Fedora brainlet
You're not cut out for this.
Finally i understand
Have you actually welded before? Depending on your circumstance it can either be miserable or fun but still miserable
No. I was considering it because I can get into a program that's close to me. But I'm gonna think about it some more before I commit to anything. Which skilled trades are the most fun?
kek, this was seriously well done
Jow Forums hates it because high-paying data scientist jobs use it on a daily basis
lol gates are fucking easy. maybe try womens studies
r/lostredditors
Change majors while you still can. Seriously.
it's popular and here on Jow Forums we hate popular things
Don't do welding, I work in a steel fabrication, welding all day, it's an extremely repetitive and soul destroying job
at least you'll die early from all the toxic fumes :)
What kind of trade would you suggest? I'm not that creative by nature. I might enjoy repairing things though.
Or lose your teeth.
Most welders smoke too so you better get started. Well the good ones I know smoke.
At last I truly see
You can't write low level in an IDE?
>why to I have to learn about engines to be a racecar driver? This doesn't even have anything to do with driving. I hate cars now
this is basic logic, and if you think this is pointless you've only just dipped your toes in. have fun in uni :^)
when I took logic design I used it as an opportunity to learn some latex tikz library and make beautiful circuit diagrams that the teacher liked
This is me right now. I've discovered how much of a brainlet I am and am genuinely considering suicide because I have nothing to contribute to anybody and lack any form of aptitude or potential
Goddamn I loved language/computation theory. Fucking state machines, Chomsky hierarchy. I ate that shit up at uni.
Don't let these cucks bring you down. Anybody has the capacity to learn. Maybe you won't be a rich and famous business guy you can still learn a trade.
my uni is a liberal arts school that I go to because they accept literally everyone even with a pathetic high school gpa because it's so expensive and I have a rich family
the CS/CE department is horribly underfunded and just not well-peopled enough. I don't feel like there's a strong enough basis of people who really know what they're doing, basically just the chair. they're all either indian/paki or something close to that as well. at least math majors seem to have some good people to lean back on, but CS seems to just be collapsing.
I'm never ever gonna learn any of that stuff here. I WISH there was a professor like here
You might actually end up with a job
In my ECE class required for my CS degree I thought I was gonna fail the final because I didn't give a shit about learning whatever the gate programming language was that they never even gave us a compiler I could run at home for.
Last question I put in "I all I want for Christmas is a D in ECE"
and I got it.
me too so much so that I specialized in it at the expense of learning more practical shit
What textbook is this? Looking for a good one explaining logic gates.
>explaining
Listen to . This board is full of sad virgin NEETs that just wanna bring others down because they already failed in life and would rather sit around insulting those that actually try instead of bettering themselves.
Even if you're an actual brainlet, which I'm pretty sure you're not, you can still easily end up with a comfortable job in the industry that at least gets the bills paid if you just apply yourself.
Electrician and plumber will always be around since it's hard to automate
or a mechanic
I remember struggling with this shit in university but now it's all so simple. Wish i understood it back then. I wouldn't have been a straight C student
join the army or something you cuck
Jow Forums is unemployed
I've been a neet for over 11 years on welfare. I'm gonna kill myself.
>Textbook
>For fucking logic gates
Just google it and you'll figure out what they are in 5 seconds if you aren't retarded. What is it about AND and OR gates that you find so confusing?
Foundation of classical logic.
It will be useless when quantum gates become a thing, but that wont happen for another 10-20 years.
>tfw they make you learn three chapters about NFA then tell you they're just abbreviated DFAs
I believe it's "Computer Science Illuminated" by Nell Dale.
Thanks for being helpful. Unlike these faggots.
> veiled homo slur
Subtle yet powerful
Nice !
its useless, but easy.
just learn, pass, forget
and prepare for much more useless subjects ahead including but not limited to:
>discrete math
>cpu architecture
>PLC
>telecommunications
>learning matlab so you can become some (((scientist's))) simulation nigger
i could go on
there should be useful stuff ahead to tho:
>c++
>c#/java
>php/webdev
>database stuff
>networking
and more
It gets better.
Are those hooks going left or right?

Same

LOL WHAT ARE LOGIC OPERATORS!?!?
wow user, it's really easy to make you laugh
if u or anyone else is in compsci and thinks this is hard u should drop it and join a tradeschool or art school or something because idt ur cut out for college let alone anything stem related
not being mean or trolling just being honest
>t. steve
Opening the terminal on on MacBooks in the Apple store and executing cat /dev/random will scare a lot of people.
you should unironically drop out
Hi OP.
The reason you should be learning logic gates is because it's a nice way to introduce you to formal logic, which will be required in order to understand higher logic abstractions. This, coupled with your discrete maths classes, will accelerate you into the world of theoretical computing.
Imagine having no idea what you're talking about and still insulting others.
I work with embedded systems, our boards run either some version of the linux-kernel or nothing, we also develop exclusively on linux, since the tools just work better there.
And no, it's not some shitty startup, it's a gigantic company.
We literally disreguard applicants if they tell us, they have no experience with linux at all.
This user gets it. Working in IT isn't just writing millions of lines of code for another stupid webapp or some shit, you can work with literal robots and make things from the ground up. If you don't like it, it's hell ro get into, otherwise you can have the time of your life.
fuck you most libraries i use are written in python
what's the point of buffer?
git gud or kys
Very nice
