This. Anyone who willingly pays for meme shit like HDR should be killed off.

how is that a meme?

You gotta have some eagle eyes to tell 4k and 1080p apart if you aren't sitting right on front of your tv

weaboo just confirmed his stupidity

May your highness enlighten me

kys buycuck

I'm buying 3 1920x1200 monitors off of craigslist for $180. Did I fuck up? Should I have gotten one really nice display and kept my current one even though it wouldn't match? My current display is also 1920x1200 but it's old and the colors are shitty.

Attached: 4ee57b5.jpg (450x447, 27K)

you can only look at one monitor at the same time

Attached: 1382198009483.jpg (543x600, 92K)

Thats his keyboard layout you absolute retard.

>three $60 monitors
don't expect much even if they're used, but they should be fine for general use

32" minimum I hope? Don't understand the surge in 27" 4k panels.

Seller says they're Dell Ultrasharp 24" displays but doesn't give a specific part number. I don't need perfection, I just want the real estate of 3 displays, and anti-glare bc current display is glossy as fuck.

3*1920*1200 is still only 83% of the pixel count of one 4K panel.

Do 4K users find that the high pixel density helps with productivity? I don't own a 4K display and nobody I know owns one either, so I really don't have much of a gauge.

90% of what I'd be doing on the display is programming and writing stuff. I use KDE Neon with a 1050Ti and I don't play games, so idk how that affects the viability of a 4K display for my purposes.

I use mine at 1:1 scale. 32" is big enough for that; 40" would be even better but I couldn't afford one with a flicker-free backlight.

Then what was the point of higher resolution?

NOT GOING 8K

Who the fuck wants tiny ass shit just to have more "screen space"? Font and picture quality is where it's at and that is what 4K is for you spastis.

>4k monitor
>hdr
Fuck off soiboi. Go back to your shithole

>all these jealous poorfags
kek

Nice OP, 4k makes text crisp af.

That's why you stick to a nice IPS 1080p, 1440p, or 1600×1200. No reason to stress out your GPU for shit you have to squint at.

If you need more screen "real-estate" just use a more space-efficient window manager and set your browser's default zoom level to 67% or 75%. You'll save money from not having to invest in a meme GPU+screen combo and get a similar result. If you have a tiling WM with tabbed windows (like i3) even a 1280×1024 panel can be pretty damn useful

10yo TN panel user reporting in. Guess yours probably looks a lot better... unfortunately, it seems you can't have high quality image and 120/144hz in the same monitor.

So basically you get no extra gains in productivity and piss away $$$ on GPU and screen just to get pretty fonts and pictures?

Seems like a waste if you ask me

> watching code for 8-10 hours a day
> improving quality and ease eye strain, more screen estate to show debugs / terminals is a "waste"

woah ok boss, how's your working day going so far? flip those burgers like you mean it

Personally, I'd take 144hz over 4K. After trying any UI on a 144hz monitor it's hard to go back to 60hz. Plus Linux's Hi DPI settings are shit.

>what?
He's the sort of buttblasted lefty conspiratard who thinks there's Russians in his tapwater. He sees Cyrillic and the MSM brainwashing kicks in.

You still have the option to go full retard and use 96 dpi, mongo. But I consider good eyesight to be a good investment, yes.

>No reason to stress out your GPU for shit you have to squint at.
a gpu easily capable of 4K desktop use is 8 years old, if you are still using that old shit then do yourself a favor and invest in a 40€gpu to get you pc up to speed.

/thread
Kill yourself, OP

You gotta not be blind to tell the difference

They're actually fine, I use a 40" 4K with a tiling WM and it's amazing.

It's not, they are just mad poorfags that never saw one in real life.

>>when you switich from your 10 years old tn monitor to new 4k HDR one
I did and now I have buyers remorse, I'm used to my old monitor and don't like the new one, now I force myself to use the new one just to justify the money...

HDR is meme and anyone shilling it deserves to be killed off

>meme colours
try breaking free off 144hz.
you can't go back. Everything that you've witnessed in 144hz becomes intolerable and perceivably choppy at lower framerates. 60hz is a no-go

But why is it a meme?

>when you switch from iGPU to dedicated
