CPU
>R3 2200G - Bare minimum gaming(dGPU optional)
>R5 2400G/i5-8400 - Consider IF on sale
>R5 2600/X - Good gaming & multithreaded work use CPUs
>Wait for 9700k - Almost surely best for 1080p gaming
>R7 2700/X - Best high-end gaming/mixed usage on a non-HEDT platform
>Threadripper/Used Xeon - HEDT

RAM
>8GB - Enough for most gaming use
>16GB - Standard for heavy use
>32GB - If you have to ask, you don't need this
>CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 2933MHz+ is ideal

Graphics cards
>RTX 2000 cards are worse performance per $ than current GPUs. Just a marketing gimmick to rip off idiots
>Avoid cheap MODELS ie MSI Armor (Mk2 is ok), Gigabyte G1/Wf, ASUS dual, and others which have small heatsinks and low quality fans
1080p
>RX 570/580 /w Freesync or 1060 6GB are standard 1080p 60fps+ options
>1050 3Gb or RX560 for lower settings, or older games

>Vega 64

Storage
>Backup before using StoreMi
>Consider getting a larger SSD (better GB/$) instead of small SSD & large HDD
>2TB HDDs are barely more $ than 1TB
>M.2 is a form factor, NOT a performance standard

Display
>Consider 75hz minimum; 60hz are mostly old models.
>Always consider FreeSync with AMD cards
>___sync is important for slower response time monitors (IPS)

The power button on my case has broken and come out, I can reach the actual button on the circuit on the top panel but I think it's time for a new case.
I'm looking at the Corsair 270R, it seems very good for £55. My current case is a bit larger but I have loads of space, is there anything specific I need to consider before I order this?

>8400
shill

What is a good price to pay for a ryzen 5 2600 in Krautland?
Is 160€ good enough or can I get away with paying slightly less during Black Friday/Cyber Monday?

>So I guess you can blow up a PSU if you short the wrong pins on the motherboard.
Dude. Before you fuck around any longer atleast do some research so your certain you don't break anything more.

What effects can a badly seated/installed cpu could have? I've got one beep, no post? No video just a black screen. I've tried different video cards, blew a PSU, all I have left is reinstalling the processor I guess.

Hope it has nothing to do with the screwdriver slipping and hitting the motherboard while trying to get the brackets off. No visible damage or marks.

>What effects can a badly seated/installed cpu could have?
There's a dot/arrow that tells you how to align to CPU into the socket. How would you "badly" install it? If you fucked that up somehow you may actually break one of the pins and fuck up the board/cpu.

Nothing much. Just check is its got all the slots for your bits and pieces and space for future hdd's and such.
Most if not practically all cases have everything you need and more nowadays
That's already a good price lad

>No video just a black screen
>inb4 monitor connected to mobo and not GPU
And wtf did you do to the plastic braket you caveman.

>That's already a good price lad
Wouldn't a ryzen 5 3600 be a better investment? I'd hate to buy a product that will be superseded by another in 6 months time.

What price is considered good for a 1080 in Europe?
I've seen a few for around 500€
I'm not sure if I should wait a bit more for the new cards to go out or just buy it now

Depends on the card, obviously, but 500€ is fine.

What are some Mini ITX cases with good aiflow that are reasonably priced?
All I see are either 200€ enthusiast-level cases with very good designs, both practical and aesthetic, or 50€ cases with good airflow but awful design - They look like shoeboxes with ventilation holes and are not very well compartmentalized. Currently have a sharkoon case and although it's small and cute, it really lacks in airflow.

Attached: idea.jpg (1600x1319, 344K)

I've now seen the 275R, the newer model which looks slightly better. They both have 2 3.5" bays, which I currently use 3 of, 2 HDDs and a CD drive, but I haven't used the CD drive in years and I have a laptop if I need something.
Might go for that instead.

It says if on sale. Which I haven't seen for like months.

Pretty much anything Silverstone. They generally put functionality first.
The Phanteks Evolv Shift doesn't seem to have terrible airflow for a glass panel case, either.

anyone know a good 1440p with a good refresh rate under $500? I'm still using the shitty 1080p 60hz TN panel I've had since 2011.
I have an NVIDIA card but I don't care much about g-sync if that matters

EVGA Hadron meme (expensive)
Thermaltake V1 (very good actually in all aspects, maybe a bit too large)
Fractal Define Nano
And then some of the Lian Li cases, there lots of them and I can't remember which one is which.
Cougar QBX seems to be nice but I don't know much about it.

>EVGA Hadron meme (expensive)
out of the question
>Thermaltake V1 (very good actually in all aspects, maybe a bit too large)
Have had this case, it did have very good temperatures but it was ugly as sin
>Fractal Define Nano
too big for me, my man
>And then some of the Lian Li cases, there lots of them and I can't remember which one is which.
As nice as they are, they are needlessly expensive
>Cougar QBX seems to be nice but I don't know much about it.
Cheap chinese case that doesn't even look that good, to be quite honest

If I could get a G5400+mobo+1050 for 50$ more than a 2400g+mobo. Its a no brainer right? Will duo core limit modern games more than a subpar APU?

Stop shitting on OP with your shilling
>rtx 2000 are worse performance per $
We dont know the benchmarks yet
>vega
You already know why this is shit so i wont explain again

What's the op picture from?

>Yfw you realize a 40" 3840x2160 panel costs $350 and can run a custom resolution of 3840x1600 for 21:9 ultrameme gaming. But a 38" 3840x1600 native 21:9 monitor costs $1000+.

Attached: 1479788926794.gif (500x281, 1.83M)

If you want ot game on that, yes the Pentium system will cream the Ryzen one.
Do you need Coffelake? The Kaby lake pentiums are even cheaper and except for 100mhz or so lower clockspeed identical processors.

I have to be honest, I have no idea what changes between cards, if one is cheaper than the others then I'll get it, like the op says the windforce isn't good, but I really don't see anything different from any other card

>STOP KVETCHING GOYIM JUST BUY IT

>We dont know the benchmarks yet
Why show such blatant retardation? It's not a new arch. It's Volta with GDDR6 instead of HBM2 and an RT accelerator ASIC. We know how it performs. It's not twice the FPS so it doesn't justify costing twice as much, retard.
>You already know why this is shit so i wont explain again
You can't explain anything because you're just a moron.

Halt and Catch Fire. It's actually rather decent and fairly technically accurate.

Ultrashort monitors are retarded, yes.

>We dont know the benchmarks yet
Even Nvidia says it's 30-35% performance increase in non-rtx/dlss games. That's likely the best case scenario. The 2080ti double the cost of a 1080ti though. So while we haven't gotten benchmarks yet I doubt Nvidia would give us worse numbers that would we would actually get.

>avoid blower/FE cards
>avoid mini cards unless ITX requires it
After that it really comes down to price and card.
Personally I really like Palit/Gainward and KFA2/Galax cards, they offer great price/performance.
If you're from Germany you can get a Palit Jetstream for 509€, got that card and it's great.

Attached: 1535516517233.jpg (750x750, 181K)

It doesn't turn on. I've isolated all the components so only the cpu+heatsink, motherboard, and psu are connected. PSU is confirmed to be working by the paperclip test. Is my motherboard DOA? I've read they don't fail very often... not sure what to do now.

Attached: IMG-20180907-WA0000.jpg (3264x1836, 1.48M)

The cheaper I can get right now is a gigabyte wf for 518€, many cards have similar prices, but they all look the same to me, I guess I'll just get the cheapest I can find once I start buying the parts

The 3600 will certainly be better.
The 2600 is the exact same 12nm or something as 1600. All they did is a few tweaks(a refresh) and that yielded near 10% gain
The 3600 will be 7nm but with even more tweaks. I expect no less than 10% gain again.
If you really don't need to upgrade don't. But if your struggling with your rig just upgrade cause just waiting is a meme.

Wtf are you doing nigger, you don't just test it like that, the case is a component too, there is no way it turns on if not screwed in

>people who don't know how to build PCs buy cheap motherboards without error code LEDs or a post code displays
If it's not the PSU it's likely the motherboard. Unless you installed the CPU incorrectly even once and bent pins.

Mine turns on but no video.

Ive never had issues building PC's before.

Niggabyte won't kill you but they have developed into a shit brand over the last years and it's generally recommended to avoid.

Honto?

Attached: PSX_20171028_074652.jpg (549x595, 115K)

As long as the card work and the fans spin it's good for me

You need to connect it to the Display.

Well one of the reasons why the motherboard is always installed on top of standoff screws that prop it up about a centimetre from the inside of the case's motherboard tray is so none of the metal traces and contacts on the motherboard's underside can be short circuited

I was once a retard who didn't make sure of that, so my PC would sometimes shut off for no apparent reason, and sometimes it wouldn't turn on. If I pressed down on the CPU heatsink enough to make the motherboard flex a little, I could turn on my PC that was because apparently it was short circuiting somewhere.

Also RAM wtf nigger. USE 1 STICK OF RAM THEN SWITCH TO THE OTHER ONE IF STILL NOT WORK.

The cpu fan should turn on at least? I'll put it back in the case and test again soon.

My first time building, so i didn't know these were things that i should've looked for. I did have to remove the cpu once, but pins werent bent.

Then you're doing better than me already.

He has it placed on a cardboard its impossible for it to be short-circuited unless its coated with conductive paint.

From your pic it looks like you wont be able to install ram in the first slot?

ANONS

I put my motherboard with my CPU together and it powered on normally.

Then I put the gpu in and then for some reason the mobo LEDs flash quickly for a second and then everything shuts down.

What's wrong? I know it's not the gpu since I was just using it yesterday.

Listen to me pal. You need RAM and a monitor for it to boot.

I think it should be fine, although wheni had previously installed 2 sticks they were in the dimma2 and dimmb2 positions which was advised in the manual.

How do I install the ram if the first slot is blocked.

I was trying to find out which part was the problem, i had them connected before but it didn't turn on.

Check the smaller power connector (the 4 pin one) is actually around the right way - they can be plugged in upside down which means nothing happens when you push the button.

I want to get a build that will allow me to play even the most demanding games, at 8k and minimum 60fps on a 144hz monitor with 1ms. Where do I begin? Bonus question: is quantum computing here yet?(as in mainstream)

He says it doesn't turn on. The motherboard would be able to turn on and make some beeps Indicating no ram installed and no video installed.

My am4 motherboard says I should install ram on the second slot, what happens if I put it elsewhere? I'm out of options here, tried everything.

Wait so if my mobo beeps that means the mobo is not he problem?

If you are asking these sorts of questions go to a computer store and buy a prebuilt computer.

see
you rotate the fan - google or youtube it I've seen it before online.

Have you connect the monitor to the newly installed GPU or is it still connected to the motherboard?

Have you made sure the GPU firmly seated in the PCIe slot?

Have you connected the power connector to the GPU?

Found the fan link
community.amd.com/thread/216233

It doesn't matter where the RAMs are connected for it to at least turn on. Most motherboard use the A1-A2 and B1-B2 pair to use the Dual-channel configuration.

I've connected it to my monitor. Nothing shows up since it all shuts down.

I've left it disconnected. Mobo only powers on for like a sec then shuts everything down

I've connected the 6pin from the PSU to the 6pin on my gpu. Same thing happens.

I want to get an HDD and use it with USB (3) right now and possibly switch to using it internally later. What's the least dumb solution:
>buy internal HDD and a powered SATA to USB adapter/enclosure, then take it out of the enclosure later
>buy external HDD and shuck it later (assuming they're using SATA internally
>buy external HDD and just use it over USB later, just pass a cable around somewhere or something
Option one sounds like it would be a waste if the others are better, but on the other hand if it's an external drive I am afraid it could be a worse batch than an specifically internal "NAS" drive since it's only meant for occasional use. Currently leaning towards option 1 (buy internal and use enclosure for now).

>but why
I will build a small but proper NAS later but right now I just want something quick and dirty to hook up to my SBC server, which doesn't have SATA but only USB3.0.

Attached: 1532615306191.jpg (720x960, 139K)

Have you checked the power plugs like I asked?

was asked to build a real cheap mini itx pc for browsing and light image editing (no games). wi-fi mandatory
i bought a brand new maximus viii impact (z170 chipset) for 100€ and i'm going to pair it to a used i3 6100 or 6300 or sth.
the cheapest board i could get was an asrock h110 something for 80 but i thought the asus is much more value in terms of future upgrades.
did i fuck up too much?

> (You)
>Wait so if my mobo beeps that means the mobo is not he problem?

here, I don't know. Without the video card installed motherboard gives me 3 beeps which is correct for no video found right?. I tried different cards. Motherboard beeps once them nothing happens.

/csg/ is much more familiar with displays than this thread

The second slot from the top is where you put the first stick of ram. Read the instructions you ballbag

I'm a different user I have the B450M MORTAR

Your methodology makes it even more confusing.

Do like this:
1. Connect the mobo cable, cpu cable,CPU fan, one stick of RAM, GPU to the monitor.
Then
2. Check if the PSU switch is actually turned on.
If not work then
3. Try the other RAM stick
If not work then
4. Remove GPU and connect monitor to the motherboard
if still not work then
5. Try a different PSU if you have one just because it turned on doesn't mean it cant be defected

If still not work
Check if there are bent pins on the CPU.

Its better to work from the way down.

Why. That sounds retarded.

Is it time to upgrade Jow Forums?
i3570k
gtx 770 2gb
8gb ddr3

ah sorry

Upgrade for what reason? what do you use your computer for? What do you feel it is lacking in when you use it?

I know.

>Upgrade for what reason?
I want to play the latest historically correct shooters like BF5 in 4k at 120 fps.

then yes, definitely time to upgrade

So you want to be homeless/selling your kidneys so you can larp as a POC woman killing nazi?

Wait.
>Historically correct shooters
>bf5
this is bait.

Attached: 1530679037853.jpg (579x579, 99K)

Just removed the ram stick. Motherboard turns on, didn't make a sound. So it can detect that there's no videocard with 3 beeps, but it can't detect there's no ram? Tried plugging ram in different slot, didn't turn on. There no electricity downstairs something might have blow up, again.

Attached: P_setting_fff_1_90_end_500.jpg (500x500, 49K)

Alright FUCK I just bought the same PSU from Best buy to see it mine was messed up or something.

What do I use to clean the old thermal paste off when I'm replacing my cpu cooler?

How can a PSU be messed up. Try shorting it up with a paperclip.

Rubbing alcohol, isopropyl alcohol same thing I think.

more like a poc fighting for nazi germany.

What's a good monitor for about $200? Amazon is flooded with cheap chink monitors so I am not sure if I should get one of those or not.

>What's a good monitor for about $200?
the fuck? be more specific.

>tfw falling for the rgb meme

Been eyeballing my next build. Probably another month or two away so just window shopping now.

Corsair 280x in white for my case.
8700k
Asus Z370-G Micro ATX mobo
CLC

Unsure on GPU yet. I have a 1070 now that I'll prolly keep for a while. Tho a 1080ti at these sale prices is tempting.

did you retards try plugging in your cpu cooler fan and case fan?

Seems like my mobo is dying.
What are some good AM3+ mobos with FX-6300 support? My current one is Asus M5A97 R2.0
Can't afford upgrading the platform so I'm going to buy a used mobo. What should I look out for when buying a used mobo?

>buy 1070ti now or Wait™ for 2070?
i want to fucking upgrade my card already but october's so near.

what do you need a new gpu for big boy?

I'm getting bored of my forum signature.

change your font

Back with update Fitted the board into the case, with the front panel controls connected. Turns out having a power button is useful.

But now my debug led for cpu is flashing. The manual says that there's a problem when the led stays lit - what does flashing mean?

No shit.

try a bios flashback
sounds like you may have turned your mobo off while it was doing something and corrupted the bios
go to the msi website, grab the bios, rename it MSI.ROM, chuck it on a usb, chuck the usb in then plug it and press the flashback button on your mobo

The CPU fan and RAM isn't connected. Your CPU cant turn on like that

Because my mobo doesn't turn on when my gpu is plugged in. And I know for a fact it's not my gpu.

Is clear cmos the same thing?

No otherwise I would have told you do to do that
Do it after this though

i'm currently using a 1050 ti and want to play games at higher resolutions with decent quality. i know monhan is a terrible port but i hate having it drop to 20s and 30s when shit's happening.

Connecting 2 sticks of ram (had 1) did the trick.

Glad i didn't have to reset bios/cmos

enjoy your new pc
post a pic of it all set up

Wait will the mobo seriously not turn on if I don't connect my case fan?
