Windows 98 IE

Managed to get Windows 98 IE6 "working" again with modern websites. And it's beautiful.

>Done, but with errors on page
You don't say?

you didn't "manage" to do anything with it. You just used IE6. An unaltered IE6 that just works.

>modern websites
>using a shit primitive site like info wars

uh huh

>An unaltered IE6 that just works.
Nope, that only works on XP's IE6 (SP3). SSL's completely broken on the SP1 release (and IE5), won't even attempt loading 90% of websites.

Had to set up sslstrip in a separate VM.

This one more to your modern taste?

Infowars' site is the same modern web cancer as everything else.
Try this
grc.com

grc.com works well.

Check out this site while you're at it.

That really was the best era of the Web.

Cringe and bluepilled

This needs to be an IE-chan comic:
>other browsers display all the fancy shit correctly
>IE-chan just splats it over the screen in a huge mess

you should read the articles and stop using windows 98

install slackware

>you should read the articles
Currently looking through them.

>stop using windows 98
Main OS is 7, have this one just as a hobby box.

thanks for giving me awful flashbacks
this shit is from 2001 and we still had to support it in 2008

7 is even more disgusting, disjointed and "webby"

Too close home

Drudge report should work a whole lot better

Had to disable scripting. Looks like Drudge tries to force you onto HTTPS using a redirection script.

>people still capitalize mac as if it were an acronym

I want to browse Jow Forums on my Windows 95 machine. How fucked am I?

leave ie chan alone

Maybe not as fucked as you think. I doubt there's many 1337 haxors out there that target Windows 95. BTW, a lot of covert launching techniques used by modern malware is incompatible with Win9X due to the lack of system functions such as 'CreateRemoteThreadEx' (this is also the reason why some game mods like SAMP won't run on Win9X).

Just in case though:
>disable JS.
>use AdGuard DNS.
>seperate the machine from your home network.

My question is more about the weight and formatting of the site, not security. I don't care if hackers find my chore list from 1997. I have 32MB of RAM. Will the site load?

Not bad, OP.

Prrrobably? Might be waiting a few days, if you open a sticky, and probably won't be able to solve captcha to post.

>I have 32MB of RAM. Will the site load?
If it does, expect it to look like pic related.

Can't post though.

Try this one op. IBM is pure business, and effectiveness right?

Captcha seems fine (non-JavaScript version). Just can't find a way to get the reply box to open.

that showwed up for every page back then too
like every
single
one

Just use Clouflare SSL for fucks sake.

So after a few more hours of playing about in IE, it's actually come in useful once. The new Facepunch design is a complete mess on Opera/Firefox/RetroZilla and doesn't display text. At least on IE, you can see what's being said.

For anyone into webcomics, I've tried a number of them from topwebcomics.com. All of them are at least functional, with most rendering 80%+ accurately. What's more, pages are loading quicker in IE than in Opera (next fastest)! Couple that with a CRT monitor and you've got a great webcomic reading experience!
