My old GPU (AMD 5850) seem to run fine without causing bsods. Yet I get 0x7F on a 1050Ti.
Is it still possible that motherboard is at fault? Like maybe 1050Ti utilizes this board differently?
Or if another GPU works fine it is definitely a borked 1050Ti?

Added info, I did not start Firefox with -no-remote option.

How do I get Firefox to stop toggling the menu bar when I press alt? It says it's F10 instead in Gnome which would be preferable. And no I don't want to show it all the time either.

you should try the part where you clock down the card to the lowest possible and see if theres any difference.
maybe it is the 1050, considering that the 5850 still runs fine in that system

I've tried putting on furmark for 20 minutes and GPU doesn't crash. Played Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 for some hours just fine.
It crashes on desktop, but most often it crashes in CSGO after like 5 minutes of play. Thought here were moments where I played CSGO for a few hours without any crashes. Tried different drivers too - no changes.
That code 12 on the network card got me thinking it might be motherboard. It's somewhat sagged because of the heavy CPU cooler. So maybe it caused a micro-crack in the PCB?
Forgot to mention that I also have a dedicated PCI soundcard which also acted up once or twice as in freezing the system and disappearing from the device manager until I reseated the card and reinstalled drivers.

Any idea how to update the firmware of a Kingston A400 under Linux? The official software only supports windows and there's no separate bootable iso available for download. Or at least none I could find.

If it doesn't have a subtitle file, then you can't hide it. It's probably due the the anime video and the subtitles being recorded into one.

Doubt that underclocking the card is going to change anything since it seems fine in Furmark, but okay. As I said, it's not exclusive to CSGO, bsods happen on desktop too when card is idle or after Windows finishes loading (after restart/shutdown).
Reading 0x7F on Microsoft site, it says that a crack or a scratched trace on the motherboard can also cause this bsod. It's just weird that new GPU triggers it, especially when I had abovementioned issues with PCI sound and network cards...

Is it possible to remake a corrupt / unreadable NTFS partition from a failing HDD? Investing hours is not a problem. I'm currently running ddrescue on a raw partition in the hopes of this being possible. If not, photorec is still an option

They're pretty much equivalents. I'd personally go with the 1060 because Nvidia because, while I've had to download several fixes for games to properly use a Radeon card, I've never had that issue with Nvidia.

Is it difficult/costly for manufacturers to add double-uses to keys? Like the functional row where you hit the function key to use a key's secondary function.

it's basically free, they don't use it because it can be obnoxious to have 5000 symbols on every key and because the vast majority of people don't use them
in some cases if they want to implement non-standard things like brightness controls it can require having certain software installed which puts developers off of doing this because it means that people that reinstall lose this functionality and they don't want to deal with these customers

For A and B, am I supposed to just convert it as is, so I get 14 and 42?

On the other hand, since C is negative, I invert the numbers and get 10001, then add 1, and get 10010 which is -2.

To go from a number to two's compliment, it's one's compliment + 1. So to go back you subtract 1 and take the one's compliment. I have a hard time imaging how you couldn't find a two's compliment converter online before posting here.

just picked up a 1050ti. after installing it into my pc, i get a black screen/no signal on my display. if i remove the gpu and plug the display into the mobo, it works fine.

i've got myself a cheap vps with tun/tap and ubuntu 16.04, and after some minor trouble i managed to get an openvpn server setup and running as a systemd service (i used this script github.com/Nyr/openvpn-install)
i can now connect to this openvpn server from my pc, using the openvpn client for windows, and the basic functionality works - i can browse the internet fine, and the websites show the ip address of the vps, so clearly it's working
and here comes the issue: i need to forward some ports and nothing i tried so far has worked

let's say the ip address of the vps is 175.20.30.40, the internal address i get assigned when connecting to the openvpn server is 10.8.0.2, and the "gateway" of that internal network would seem to be 10.8.0.1
so i just do this:
iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -d 175.20.30.40 -p tcp --dport 1234 -j DNAT --to-dest 10.8.0.2:1234
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -d 10.8.0.1 -p tcp --dport 1234 -j SNAT --to-source 10.8.0.1

When using coding in php, why would sessions stop updating?
I was coding and changing some and all of a sudden it stoped updating any changes I made them.

Opus delivers roughly half the file size of an MP3 encoding at the same audible quality. In my case I can shave off a couple of hundred gigabytes of data. I just need something to go from FLAC to Opus in one go.

i use mp3fs, though, to transcode my flac to mp3 on the fly whenever I need it for maximum portability. I'm sure if I had an embedded environment with limited space I would consider something else.
