You don't.

Install GNU IceCat.

what am i supposed to do in about:config

Install uBlock origin and enable the other filters and advanced mode. Block 3rd part scripts by default at the very least.

Use about:config to your liking. A few examples:
layers.acceleration.force-enabled;true
geo.enabled;false
geo.wifi.uri;false
dom.event.contextmenu.enabled;false
dom.event.clipboardevents.enabled;false
privacy.trackingprotection.enabled;true
privacy.firstparty.isolate;true
privacy.resistFingerprinting;true
dom.battery.enabled;false
browser.cache.disk.enable;false
network.predictor.enabled;false
network.dns.disablePrefetch;true
network.prefetch-next;false
media.peerconnection.enabled;false
network.websocket.enabled;false
extensions.pocket.enabled;false
browser.urlbar.trimURLs;false
webgl.disabled;true
webgl-disable-wgl;true
webgl.enable-webgl2;false
browser.urlbar.speculativeConnect.enabled;false
browser.safebrowsing.malware.enabled;false
browser.safebrowsing.phishing.enabled;false
browser.send_pings;false
media.eme.enabled;false
More can be found here github.com/ghacksuserjs/ghacks-user.js

Annd optionally, customize the UI with css. There are many examples out there to copy paste if you can't write your own.

Smarthttps
ublockorigin
umatrix
dark theme if you so desire.

see , and get Waterfox instead.

fpbp

Use IE7 dumbass

This. Especially since Antergos KDE now works for whatever reason when it didn't before (I think it's because the first thing I did when I installed it this time was install the nvidia drivers) and Waterfox doesn't screen tear streaming video under KDE like it did with GNOME, I can finally get rid off stupid crippled FF.

What the fuck I don't know understand jack shit
Could you make a post for noobs?

By switching to waterfox

No.

dont pretend like you dont know already user

Attached: Pale-Moon-logo.png (256x256, 88K)

Can Pale Moon be made to look like the more recent Firefoxes? Switching back to that 20s era just feels clunky.

Finally updated to current version from pre-quantum and now everything's a fucking mess because several add-ons I was using don't have an updated version. Is there a decent replacement for the default download manager, since Download Status Bar isn't available anymore?

Delete all the entries. It's all botnet.

ughh

Install Palemoon.

Why? I really don't get the shilling for Palemoon on Jow Forums.

I downloaded chromium as soon as Jow Forums started hating on it
:^)

Go back while you still can. They're nuking all pre-Quantum addons next month.

I guess it's time to give up on Firefox and go with a fork. All the CSS I had for the previous version doesn't work any more and basic things I used regularly like middle click tab restore and automatic download clearing don't work either because the add-ons were abandoned.

cookie autodelete
https everywhere
smarthttps
ublock origin
privacy badger

>They're nuking all pre-Quantum addons next month.

Good riddance. All actively developed addons are compatible with quantum, and you shouldnt use non-mantained addons anyway.

Quantum addons suck in comparison though.

You forgot HTTPS Everywhere.

https everywhere is botnet-tier and sends the hosts to visit to their servers, at least use
>smarthttps

but websites that don't redirect to https themselves don't usually need to be https so why even bother

what do you mean by that, any add on that dates with its roots to pre-quantum days like umatrix will be doomed?
you cant use non quantum compatible add ons anyway so what they are doing exactly?

any evidence of smart https not being botnet contrary to https everywhere?

no but if i recall correctly, how it's supposed to work is is trying every site on https before allowing a http request to go through so it shouldn't ever need to call home whereas http everywhere sends your requested url to a central db of websites that compares against a db

just use neither it's pointless

blog.mozilla.org/addons/2018/08/21/timeline-for-disabling-legacy-firefox-add-ons/
They're just making legacy extensions no longer visible on the Mozilla add-on page - until they get a web extension version, at which point they'll be accessible for users again.

They are removing XUL addons from the mozilla website, so everything good.

>just use neither it's pointless
tfw it is actually true since all websites i visit are https by default
by the way, how do those add ons work? if a given website is https or http it should be obvious for either webbrowser or server itself to default to https

https everywhere and smarthttps work differently and cover slightly different sites, so botnet aside, to over as many sites as possible you should use both

oh, so if one is using 52 ESR for example they are better off downloading every single add on they would like before they mozilla wil delet dis?

your browser can't know something that nobody tells it and there's no standard, well established way for a http web server to reply "hey I also offer https, ftp and gopher services"

tf u talkin about nigga

there's archival projects like
github.com/JustOff/ca-archive
but i wouldn't rely on other if you really, really want or need to keep your xuulz

Only ublock origin and containers. Sandboxing every website has made privacy addons redundant

Uninstall it and install qutebrowser instead

>waterfox
Are you retarded? It's shit.

istn first party isolation enough?

>https everywhere is botnet-tier and sends the hosts to visit to their servers
any evidence on this?

Ohhhh :(

Options > Privacy & Security > History > Firefox will [Never remember history]

Install uBlock Origin
Install Playback Speed

Install a nice theme

fpbp

>Bitwarden for password management not Firefox built in password manager
>uBlock Origin
>Go through settings and turn off anything you don't like the look of

uninstall and download ungoogled-chromium, no placebo effect privacy

Everything is botnet you can't escape

And people complain about having to do this to Windows...

Attached: 1484547423145.jpg (556x561, 15K)

Is there a way to export sessions from one browser to another? I.e. automatically make it so all the sites I'm logged into on Chrome, I'm always logged into on Firefox

No not that I'm aware of

Not even with cookies?

Intstall Chrome

I'm also interested in this. I've been using firefox and it works great but recently some pages keep loading and i have to click reload to get them to connect. It's getting old.

?
You know you can put this in a user.js file instead of changing each setting individually , right? And it's better having the option than not.

Somethings fucked on your end. No problems here.

Most are just optional settings that are nice to have that chromium browsers dont even have.

Do firefox containers actually work?

Yes

Can you use separate proxies with them?

Probably not

The DuckDuckGo Privacy Essential Extension

You'll love it if you haven't tried it...

Fuck off shill Not as good as uBlock Origin and smart https.

Usually I dismiss accusations of shilling but damn

Attached: page-image.4b108ed0b8d8.png (1200x630, 112K)

Pic unrelated, I was testing the file selector and uploaded it by accident

install waterfox

you could if there was an addon for it, no idea if someone already wrote it but the api exist as far as i'm concerned
also, check out the "temporary containers" extension - it's pretty dope

Download the brand new Tor instead.

8.0 fixed a ton, and they upgraded it to the newest firefox engine.

I guess you're right, I need to reorganise a bit.

Apologies if it bothered you...

You uninstall it, and get palemoon or waterfox.
You then install uBlock, uMatrix and https-everywhere on it, and configure them appropriately.
Then, on about:config, you turn geo off.
You then can add other useful addons. One I strongly recommend, for example, is greasemonkey, so you can install infocatcher's "remove fake links" userscript, which avoids click tracking on google, yandex and a number of other sites.
Lastly, you go to mycroft and install whichever search engines you need. To start with, I recommend adding Startpage, and replacing google with it as your default one.
Oh, also, blanking out the home page is recommended as well.

any way to make the search bar look like this in Quantum or should I just forget it?

Attached: archive.png (498x440, 26K)

Like this?
You can add and select which ones you want to use.

Attached: derp.png (1706x1944, 199K)

Aahhh... Firefox. The standard firefox user goes from happily installing to truly appreciate its tricks to find its flaws and then uninstall.

1. you install it, look at ghacks or pyllukko or chef-koch or atavic tweaks.

2. you find it's not enough, you browse maone's noscript threads, then gorhill ublock and umatrix threads, then https-somewhere threads then amptohtml threads...

3. you get a brely working thing, but site a doesn't work or your goygle webmail isn't satisfactory enough for your autism

4. you version got older, still working - with more flaws - but you are on gnu, palemoon, lynx, linx, k-meleon or naked curl to mail as RMS.

If you, like RMS, campaign for software to be distributed in a manner such that its users receive the freedoms to use, study, distribute and modify that software, to straight to point 4, that means

>Uninstall

Nah, I like it on all OSs.

Attached: Screenshot_2018-09-08_15-13-16.png (1920x1080, 677K)

No, the search engines weren't my problem. My problem is that I want to revert how the search bar functioned to about a year or two ago.

The left is my preferred searchbar. The right is the new searchbar with buttons. If anyone has any fixes, please let me know. If they don't, I'll probably end up using a fork full-time.

Attached: archive2.png (760x439, 41K)

The functionality is the same. Just turn off search suggestions. The look is the only difference.

>Never remember history
A feature that chromefags will never have, lmao

Why would you use the search bar? You can set up keywords to use any search engine you want using the address bar.
