I've been through several updates, didn't see any problems. Granted those are only the weekly security updates, didn't know yet what'll happen on those big biyearly updates. Not that I care much though since I simply don't do that. Every year I just do a clean install.

well it probably still uses some mem but the performance benefits are worth it, it doesnt go overboard if ram is limited, profiling apps doesnt take up much in mem plus boot is faster (also i have sata, i feel the difference)
