So Microdick Wangblows 7 Professional/Enterprise will get paid extended support until 2023. I'll be holding onto my Win7 Pro install at least until then to see what's up. My machine should last until then, 4th gen i7 OC at 4.8GHz, 16GB DDR3 2400MHz 11CL with a nvme 4x C drive.
>So Microdick Wangblows 7 Professional/Enterprise will get paid extended support until 2023 Only if you pay. XP still has support like that too, and nobody has leaked the proper patches for that.
Jose Nelson
>nobody has leaked the proper patches for XP they moved to 7 instead. Can a leaked patch be called "proper" in the first place?
Jason Reed
Windows XP holdouts added POS Ready 2009 update trick because those updates are public.
Christian Lee
Too bad even POS2009 itself is broken
Carter Fisher
The POSReady updates are the same as the paid ones.
Alexander Sanders
I was using 7 a couple of weeks ago and decided to try 10 (upgrade is free and you can revert back for 10 days) and it seems alright to me, so I've just stayed on it. I don't see what the big deal is.
>cuck thread No, this is a thread for Windows 7, not your shitty fetish.
Blake Clark
Citation needed. >upgrade is free not anymore
Angel Turner
Well user, I literally did it a few weeks ago and it worked fine. You use the media creation tool and it does it for free without asking for a key or whatever.
Dominic Sanchez
Did you upgrade when it was still free? Is it actually showing as activated in the system settings?
If a similar trick works for W7, Windows Embedded POSReady 7 is supported until end of 2021, that's about it. Not much when compared to 5 years that xp got.
Brody Sanchez
Imagine being this desperate not to have to learn anything ever.
Gavin Ramirez
Why do you care about the "extended support"? Why does it matter? Just keep using the OS as usual.
>who cares about security? Then upgrade to Win8.1 for two more years of support
Kevin Adams
>XP still has support like that too, and nobody has leaked the proper patches for that. Literally modify a register key. You can also install POS 2009
Christian Johnson
The registry key is for the POS2009 patches, not the secrit XP ones. It also doesn't work any more.
Lucas Nelson
>Too bad even POS2009 itself is broken explain
Elijah Gutierrez
>windows xp? windows 98 is all i need >windows 7? windows xp is all i need >windows 10? windows 7 is all i need I need that image
Nathan Rivera
That's not how this meme works.
Joseph Davis
Explorer crashed after boot ad doesn't load autostart entries randomly Yes, I've tried different computers and VMs and they all showed this behavior after installing the recent updates Also windows update breaks after you update it once and goes into an endless loop of searching for updates
Joseph Edwards
You don't have the image so shut the fuck up bitch
Gabriel Evans
>It also doesn't work any more. Yes it does.
Robert Perry
It on my Pentium 4 shitbox. About Windows Update, you have to install the latest version of Internet Explorer for XP, 9 I think.
Vista was a major departure from XP both aesthetically and technically, as evidenced by the fact that many legacy programs and drivers were unsupported and the os in general was broken at launch. T. I ran Vista when it was new until 7 came out
Andrew Taylor
t. discord
Caleb Gomez
How shitty is your hardware that it makes a noticeable difference?
Thomas Wilson
>About Windows Update, you have to install the latest version of Internet Explorer for XP, 9 I think. It's 8, but it didn't help any.
Joseph Evans
>Vista and up are noticeably slower than XP on the same hardware. Only on pentium 4, on newer systems the reverse is true
Cooper Parker
Completely false. Pentium 4s are shit no matter what and XP is bliss on multi-core systems.
Grayson Cruz
>XP is bliss on multi-core systems. said no one ever
Daniel Davis
>XP is bliss on multi-core systems
Luis Phillips
My machine at work is running 10, but everything about the os is fractured because of the "unified system" meme. Almost all the old DEAKTOP features/tools are there but hidden behind the TABLET interface tools and features. The UI is fundamentally broken and Explorer is more infuriating to use than ever. Why do two icons appear in my panel when I insert ONE usb drive? Why are there favorites and quick access and one drive BEFORE the system folder? How come Classic View and Classic Theme aren't available like in 7? Why are ALL updates MANDATORY?
Isaiah Ross
the only thing bliss about windows xp on newer hardware is the fucking wallpaper
>Almost all the old DEAKTOP features/tools are there but hidden behind the TABLET interface tools and features. Like what? >Explorer is more infuriating to use than ever. Huh? They removed libraries by default and have a OneDrive thing in the side but I don't see any other big changes. >Why do two icons appear in my panel when I insert ONE usb drive? Unable to reproduce. >Why are there favorites and quick access and one drive BEFORE the system folder? Could disable it. >Why are ALL updates MANDATORY? Because retards don't update shit and then complain about muh wangblows security.
Tyler Evans
It doesn't take a fucking genius to work out that newer hardware is not going to work as well on an OS that hasn't received updates for years.
Justin Hall
For the same reason Windows 98 is shit on anything newer than a Pentium III, hardware support and software optimization.
Jackson Cox
Windows XP works perfectly on Core 2 Duo / Quad and early Core i series hardware. Vista being so unpopular with almost every type of computer user is the reason why XP's driver support lasted so long.
Windows 98 is shit on anything newer than a Pentium III because Windows 98 is shit in general, and only remembered fondly because of muh DOS games and muh '90s PC nostalgia.
Grayson White
That doesn't change my point, a Core 2 Duo is not "newer hardware".
Josiah Ramirez
>Windows XP works perfectly on Core 2 Duo / Quad At pretty much the same speed as it does on a pentium 4
Hudson Moore
Yes it does actually because you were talking about the Pentium 4. If that's not what you meant you should have specified. If XP x64 had drivers for machines from the last 6 years it probably run fantastic on those as well.
Andrew Peterson
You've obviously never used it on a Core 2 Duo. The difference in responsiveness is enormous.
Brandon Thomas
You don't know shit you are talking about. NT 5.x scheduler is years behind anything modern, it's shit for anything above dual cores. You can try by yourself, install XP and 7 on the same Core2Quad setup and try to render something with the same software, maybe try playing some games.
Landon Collins
>Because retards don't update shit and then complain about muh wangblows security. Retard, that's not the reason. The reason is that it's a botnet and they need a way to push it onto users who don't want things to change Yes, obviously I never did. Obviously. Enjoy your slowass single threaded explorer and garbage speeds. Did i mention that the whole system doesn't do anything while it's playing the shutdown tone?
Rendering your anime porn and fucking around in first person shooters have nothing to do with how well XP boots and runs its own software on a modern system.
Jose Morris
Of course it is, Vista is way more complex. That's like saying Windows 95 is better than XP because it runs better on the same hardware. The whole Vista issue happened because it was a buggy piece of shit (addressed with Windows 7), manufactures were shipping it with shit hardware (integrated graphics couldn't handle desktop composition well) and hardware manufactures were making shit drivers that barely worked, which forced Microsoft to invest hard in WHQL.
Adrian Cook
>Yes, obviously I never did. Obviously. Well I'm glad we cleared that up. >Did i mention that the whole system doesn't do anything while it's playing the shutdown tone? Just because it says it's doing that doesn't mean it only doing that.
Christian Wood
>The reason is that it's a botnet and they need a way to push it onto users who don't want things to change What? Why do they provide ways to defer updates and disable automatic updates then?
Oliver White
>Just because it says it's doing that doesn't mean it only doing that. Judging by the HDD indicator, it isn't doing anything else.
Juan Jackson
Thanks for proving my point.
Brayden Perry
>muh support
what support? Are you genuinely telling me after a literal decade that there are still exploits to be found?
where on the clearweb will these exploits be found anyway?
Colton Wilson
Because some normalfags complained that some updates broke their systems, so MS """generously""" let them uninstall those updates
Robert King
Fair point, but the difference with XP is that it was more than capable of running on systems from 5, 6, 7 years after its initial release. Windows 95 on anything newer than a Pentium III would be unnecessary.
Nathaniel Green
reddit pls
Chase Bennett
I don't understand, there's absolutely no reason not to upgrade to Windows 10. Fantastic OS
Bentley King
That doesn't address the point.
David Morgan
You're too much of a geek to understand the point
Joseph Johnson
The main reason I am happy about this is this means browser developers will extend their support for 7. Let's face it, they are the ones that control what OS we use, when they end security support that is when you are fucked.
Jackson Garcia
Using POSReady 2009 since 2011. Only problem is you have to install the monthly IE8 update manually before using WU else you get the takes-forever-to-search-for-updates bug (which has been fixed and broken so many times in the past it is funny).
Nicholas Stewart
Old Intel based machines with better (200% better) onboard gfx performance than Vista/7 drivers.
you know this is due your vodka runes, but yeah 10 is shit
Joseph Gutierrez
>turns off search features out of paranoia >surprised when it doesn't work
Henry Clark
best place to ask seems to be this thread. Whats better: >win10 with all the bullshit tracking removed, and only used to run win7 on vm VS >just fuckin windows7
Evan Lee
Sounds like you already know the answer
Gavin Perez
>himmler.jpg
Jeremiah Torres
>just fuckin windows10
Cooper Martinez
I do but I need reasons to support why 7 > VM. Logic I'm against is: >i'll just disable all the tracking and install a win7 virtual on this barren win10 >with a VM, i can take snapshots of sessions in 7 to rollback incase of fuckups >I won't use w10 for anything but running 7 in vm I need counterlogic
Hudson King
>>win10 with all the bullshit tracking removed Nice fanfiction
>Because retards don't update shit and then complain about muh wangblows security. >Why do they provide ways to defer updates and disable automatic updates then?
Except they don't allow you to disable updates, only defer updates for 3 months then they're automatically downloaded and installed without you needing to even click "Ok". I wouldn't care so much if this only happens for security updates but this applies to any and all updates ever. Even on win7 I don't install every optional update, I specifically avoided the Microdick Malware GWX updates for example.
Aiden Young
12 months for feature, 1 month for security on my machine and disabling automatic updates is literally one gpedit setting.
Julian Morris
Why do I feel like Windows 8.1 has less features than 7? It's faster, sure, but it feels like a stripped down version of the previous OS. Can someone list me the features 8.1 has over 7?
Isaiah Bennett
Why is the Windows 10 GUI style so cluttered? Literally Luna (Teletubbies Theme) tier. It was very clear what was where with Classic and Aero, but the extension limited settings with windows seen in the style of ancient versions of Android seem like a step down. You can't even customize your interface without hacks.
Matthew Mitchell
>not just installing linux
Owen Edwards
Yeah, this issue also happens on Windows 8. Before you could search the whole system for what you seek, now it just skips everything.
Austin James
It's pointless because 7 and 8 both have the same telemetry features backported Rinto them.
Aaron Perez
You can manage system updates on 7.
Dominic Jones
>Just keep using the OS as usual. Seconded, desu!
Carter Lewis
>Literally why are some people still using XP? Coze it werks, desu.
Jayden Young
The Windows 10 UI and menus are like two operating systems worth of settings layed one over the other. Why have a half dozen settings menus with reduced options when there's still a control panel with the old settings and system admin tools? Why do I need to change registry entries to make simple changes to Windows 10? It would take an hour to edit all the entries I need to make the os something I can halfway put up with and still not have the classic windows look they abandoned. Why install 10 if it needs to be hacked to bits and run 3rd party desktops to be usable?
