Wouldn't actually surprise me. One of the most striking things for me every time I set Windows up for someone is how enormously Windows Update sucks. The last time was my sister asking me why her laptop is so excruciatingly slow, and sure enough it is Windows update sitting forever using like two full CPU cores and constant I/O activity, and it only gets worse since the resulting slowness causes her to turn it off less and less often, and therefore more work queuing up for Windows Update between each time.
I will never understand how Windows update can need like 30-60 minutes of constant system activity just to check for downloads, let alone actually download and install them. It really is such utter and complete trash. Every other system update tool I've used on any platform -- almost even Gentoo portage -- completely smokes it, and I really wouldn't be surprised if 90% of performance problems that people have on Windows are caused by it. And I haven't even mentioned the utterly, beyond-comprehension retarded "IT'S TIME TO REBOOT NOW, SEE IF YOU HAVE TIME TO SAVE YOUR WORK BEFORE I DO IT FOR YOU!".

Yeah gonna have to agree on this. Thank god LTSB exists. You can also use group policy to disabled updates and turn it back on when you want and have time to update but it sounds like most people in this thread don't even have the basic knowledge to even do that. Whoever said kids these days are better with tech than the old gen is fucking retarded.
In the end I'd rather put up with windows than the asa backwards as fuck mac os I had to deal with on a throttling 0.8GHz macbook I used to own.
