Tfw fell for the STEM meme

>tfw fell for the STEM meme
holy fucking shit, It's impossible to get a job unless you're some autist with 200 projects on github.
The ones that you can get are shitty pajeet tier codemonkey webdev that's boring and cancerous as fuck and pays less than McDonalds.
What a fucking waste of 4 years getting this meme degree

oh don't you know you're supposed to make it your only hobby in life and contribute to GitHub 24/7 for free

also if your uni/college didn't help you find a job you went to a shit place

>he fell for the cs meme
we warned you

Ur a fuckin loser lol its easy to get code money jobs ive had several

You retard. You were too late now. You're competing with millions of people now internationally too. Should have picked a engineering degree.

Get fit and pick up a blue collar trade. You can help people in your local community and work outside. I know a guy that was an engineer and quit his job so he can work outside. Why would anyone do that? Well an office job is depressing, mind numbingly boring and it's not good for your health.

>shit state uni
>2.9 GPA
>no internship
>4 projects on github (all shit)
>2 job offers less than month after graduating
>making 80k first year

I used to think the same as you OP, until i got a job, btw a CS degree definitely isn't a meme.

its ok user im in the same boat. spent my whole time in uni playing vidya, browsing the chan, and watching porn instead of getting gud at programming. I knew what i was getting myself into the whole time, but anxiety/depression made it difficult to get motivated. Now i just finished my CS degree and have 3 shitty personal projects, but still havent worked a single day of my life. considering just doing linux sysadmin since its the only thing i feel competent in. pajeet and klossy are probably better than me at programming

is this too shit for a job? my local university banned me from their campus for protesting a professor who gave some roastie an A in a class for a blowjob and I have no other options besides an online degree

>my local university banned me from their campus for protesting a professor who gave some roastie an A in a class for a blowjob
greentext teim

Bullshit you might get a good 6 months max out of the year the you're working in extreme weather. Your friend is stuck as an apprentice for longer than his education and if he didn't get a manual labor job that requires an apprenticeship then he's getting shit wages. Let's not even talk about what happens when you get old. Running your own business is hard work and takes years if you're lucky to establish anything. Inb4 paying union dues

um i went to a shit state school, but it was a school everyone in the state knew about, and it wasn't online. You at least have to go to a real university.

how did you get your job offers? what made you stand out enough to get these job interviews?

That's what happens when you chase money and/or listen to what the government wants you to do (we need more little STEM drones, quick hurry hurry it's the future, big market, very big money!), meanwhile the actual work will drive you to become an empty husk of a being (unless you're one of those who should actually go into STEM i.e. those literal autists who have been genetically "gifted" to be good at math, coding, whatever).

same, no job freshman tho

>sitting by roastie freaking out to another classmate about grade, says she has a D and will likely fail
>towards end of semester, no fucking way in Hell she's bringing her grade up
>go to professor's office on a non-class day during his office hours for assistance with homework as per syllabus
>door is locked, knock on door
>hear loud thump like I startled him, can't see into the room that far
>after a few minutes door opens up, roastie in question unironically walks out of the room wiping her mouth with the back of her hand without acknowledging or looking at me
>professor tells me to come in, his shirt is untucked and he seems odd, know exactly what was going on
>next class meeting overhear roastie talking to her friend saying she was given extra credit and will be passing the class with a 90
>make a stink about it to the campus dean
>have meeting with campus dean and professor
>he denies it, I'm told to drop the subject and not bring it up again, have to sign some waiver
>next class meeting he's lecturing about overall bad test grades for last exam
>I said something along the lines of "how bout if I sucked your dick too would you give me an A like you did roastie? (slut's name was Karen I think)"
>told to get out of his class
>summoned to meeting with dean
>kicked out of school for violating Title IX anti-sexual harassment shit

I'm still fucking mad. Fuck both of them.

Dakota State University is a real brick and mortar school that everyone...in South Dakota at least...knows about. Well shit guess I'll just become a plumber or something cause I'm fucked.

Why do you losers get a CS degree if you don't actually enjoy programming in your free time?

nice, this gave me a boner

You're a retard for signing anything

>signing
you're a retard

I don't believe this happened. Sounds like someone is writing their fantasies in erotica.

This.

same only I majored in math. I work as a developer too, just so I can take a job away from a CS cuck

Plumbing is based and blackpilled

would you recommend against a math major if I hate math but not necessarily bad at it?

You were supposed to start programming and participating on engineering projects at sophomore year. So, by your senior year you would have 5-10 big projects on github. Two months before your graduation, you would send applications as April-July is the time period in which companies start stealing great minds from universities.

do applied math and learn programming on your own.

>mfw this is the absolute state of STEMshits

Attached: 15315682446400.jpg (249x225, 14K)

same

also forgot to ask, what do you dislike about math exactly?

What is a good project anyway. Would a regular bash script count? Would a self made 2FA using a current existing encryption algorithm count?

I know this is bait, but if you are into engineering you must demonstrate your potential by projects and accomplishments--unlike shit majors, they only have to write a paper talking about why smoking in campus is bad.

Is this better?

Practice until you get good at it

Football State University is shit tier and full of nigger lovers

>this false flag to prevent others from getting CS degrees and competing with you for that sweet programming money
nice fucking try

t. University of Cocksucking Faggots

I'm working in construction and make 20$ an hr plus 85 per deim as a high school graduate with no prior experience and all you have to do is suffer for a bit as a firewatch before being slowly introduced into a certain craft such as welding or pipefitting. On this job pipefitters make 26-30 depending on experience and much more on more well paying jobs.

>plus 85 per deim
what did he mean by this?

Is Welding a good stable career? I could take welding classes at my community college but I don't know if it's a good idea.

Per day, goy

Yes it is, but you get exposed to toxic fumes

I hear that you have to move from place to place searching for the next job unlike residential plumbing where you get calls daily for small jobs so you need to be really good at networking. Is that true?

Guy that posted first here.
You get paid 85$ just for showing up. Technically it's to cover your costs of living for being away from home so it's important to get it when looking at potential jobs.
Yes it is. If you are good at it then you'll do great and you'll never be short of work. In every single industry you'll need a welder at some point. And your most likely not going to get replaced by a robot. (If you are, you dont really have to worry at that point because the machines will have killed you already.) And welders can make some seriously great money. They can get up to like 100$ an hr rarely. Bit it's mostly about 30-45. Plus they can get 15$hr for having their own rig on top of that. Plus per deim of course. Saftey has been a major improvement in this industry. Its not the old days where they bid jobs on how many fatalities they'll have. Like you'll get run off for not having proper saftey glasses on. And they are pretty particular about fumes and ventilation.

Attached: FB_IMG_1536624330710.jpg (640x960, 63K)

Yes you do have to move alot and spend time away from family. And this industry is built on who you know. I've only got the job due to family. But it is possible to get in normally. But chances are theres probably someone in your family that can get you a foot in the door.

I am literally you except I can't fucking find a job anywhere.

I enjoying watching youtube videos and shitposting on Jow Forums in my freetime, unfortunately I can't get paid for it though.

No, user is definitely this dumb.

>using uni to learn stuff that can be learned at home.
>not using uni to get connections into job market.

>I know a guy
Yeah its the main character of Office Space

This is why I'm dropping out. I thought I would get into programming and start liking it when i get to study it seriously but it wasn't for me. The money is good and job opportunities are everywhere if you really like it and are good at it though.

Wait wot slow the fuck down. Explain m8. Newfag so go easy on me.

>implying cs is programming
This is why no one will hire you.

Op is an absolute faggot. Op is probably just terrible at interviews and writing resumes and winges that mah stem meme when in reality it's just because he's autistic

Imagine if some guy enjoyed watching tv and yelling at the news so he decided he'd become a movie star. You're basically that guy.

I have zero projects and almost zero activity on my github. Still have a 6 figure offer from a FAANG in the bay area. I have no idea what people find so hard about this shit

same, except i got the job offers before i graudated and making 85 + 5 signing bonus

They're literally not qualified, they don't know how to program, but they feel entitled to a programming job.

At least you actually know you suck

But you can just get a job at some smaller company that has a lower hiring bar. There's so many damn jobs out there I have no idea how people find it difficult to land one with a CS degree and basic competency

>self taught and barely graduated high school
>got a web dev job after teaching self from scratch after 3 months
>got my current data science job 8 months after that

They don't have basic competency. Look at the fizzbuzz threads on Jow Forums, half of them don't even evaluate correctly and that's just a joke challenge that a child should be able to solve.

your "data science" job is either not really data science or it's elementary as fuck.

Not my experience at all. I basically tripped and fell into a job after graduating.

I would have just forgotten about it desu

Here's a list of the top 25 Stem jobs. What are your thoughts?
money.usnews.com/careers/best-jobs/rankings/best-stem-jobs

this. real data scientists are mathematics or CS PhDs

he's probably a database administrator at best, but since he's a retard he thinks it's data science. watch him drop machine learning in his job description too

>graduating this year
>no internships
>no research experience
>no personal projects
>no job experience
Well Jow Forums...what's the next step of my master plan?

If you were in the show Game of Thrones, you would be killed off in the first season for overplaying your hand.

Why couldn't you get any internships? Were they too strict or did you just not try?

apply for jobs you stupid fuck. what do you think

Lol loser I make 40$ an hour plus overtime working a union job that has me sit on my fat ass all day pushing buttons at a computer. Also don't become a carpenter unless your really skilled.

Forgot to mention
>low gpa

I went to Berkeley and they didn't help me get a job

what the fuck do i put on github? every time i get motivated i can't think of anything and just psyche myself out.

Should've black mailed your professor instead of just exposing him like that

>Berkeley
Did you get a tranny or sjw gf though?

you cant get a job because you are based as 99% of users in this site even without a degree you can get a well payed job.

our CS grads have like a 95% job placement rate after graduation (excluding those who go on to grad school), and most of the 5% don't want one. so you're either a complete retard or you don't go to berk

What was your major? I know a guy that did the same thing.

>our CS grads have like a 95% job placement rate after graduation
no they don't dumb freshman

also
>calling it Berk
confirmed larper
i wish I went to UCLA or Stanford instead

EECS as always

for some of you autists with a clean record, and if you live in certain states like southern california, you should look into being a police office

>dad is one
>high school education only
>makes 120k a year without overtime
>you only work 3 days a week, thus allowing you 4 days for picking up OT
>some women love a man a uniform
>respectable honest profession

eecs.berkeley.edu/resources/students/undergrads/internal/statistics

>93.8% job placement rate 6 months after graduation

retards

I don't know what OP is talking about there's a million IT and programming jobs out there, just lower your standards and realize you're not gonna work for FAANG unless you're in the top 0.5% of CS students. Non-software industries still need programmers and database admins and pay just as much with a fraction of the workload.

Attached: 1531309846602.jpg (620x595, 32K)

>believing the university stats

lmaoing at ur life freshman

you realize that refers to ANY job you fucking idiot retard

this

knew plenty who went full NEET after graduating

>mad cucks who couldn't get into berkeley.

im australian you fucking retard, i don't care about your disgusting seppo colleges rife with autism and protests.

>It's impossible to get a job unless you're some autist with 200 projects on github
I graduated with a 2.8 GPA and still managed to get a CS job at a large company. I make more right now than anyone else I know

>shitty pajeet tier codemonkey webdev
not really sure what you expected there. If you wanted to write C for a living you'd go into computer engineering, otherwise you are kinda stuck in Java hell unless you go to some meme startup that codes in Rust or something

what do you code in for your job? python or sharp or some shite?

EECS class of 2015
dumb ape

user, this is why I dropped out of college before I wasted all my money. I planned to do the same shit as you, but that was nearly 10 years ago. I barely escaped the debt trap. College is a waste of time and money, it's basically a test to see whether you can follow instructions and meet deadlines, your reward is a piece of paper that says "this guy is a good worker drone" to yo, you can make your pitiful wage while sitting down at least.

>criminal
>only shit schools in the outback

I know you can program and land a nice job if you play your cards right. But what about people like me with poor high school grades, no networking, and a questionable work history? I think college might be the only way in.

>shit schools
>literally invented wifi

kys
