this
For some reason it makes my cpu go as high as 70°c when I'm not even using it. Can't trust MS software even if it is open sourced.
this
Heh, nothing personnel kid
actually Atom has been losing lots of users to VSCode over the last 2 years and I guess it will be history within other 2-3 years since both are controlled by Microsoft now
I've never seen it use that much RAM. Yeah it's Electron and all, but it's way leaner than Atom.
There's an option to turn that off.
got vscode using 3.2 Gb RAM with c++ extension and 4 pages open. great text editor. JS fucked everything around and nobody cares.
Joke. Even slower than vscode with less features and worse interface.
Wait people still use editors?
What if you need to compile? You open up a console for command lines?
helps you with auto completion, when you have complex classes you don't always remember correct syntax
Clion has excellent auto completion. So does VS.
this
clion cost money.
vscode is in free tier, shited by javascript
If you're a student or in a company, it's free.
*blocks your path*
no sources, not free, literary fuck clion and all their software.
>no sources
Literally says it on the website. Or are you an amateur programmer? In that case, anything goes, I guess.
Unironically true unless you have to edit a remote file
amateur programmer, using vim/emacs, probable i am better that 95% folks who use IDE's to develop crappy apps.
Only with Emacs keybindings
Okay what's your salary?
>probable
Oh, nevermind...
i can afford clion, but is not about money here, never been. is about transparency and freedom.
>amateur programmer
>is about transparency and freedom
Yeah whatever
mah nigga
the superior editor for whites
I really like Sublime Text, starts fast and doesn't load like a webpage like Atom and (I assume) VS:code.
"telemetry.enableCrashReporter": false,
"telemetry.enableTelemetry": false
yes, some amateurs programmers do great things, that paid developers never dream. you should learn that. is not about money again.
also, amateur is a vague term, i am not sure what you understand by it, probable unemployed. some folks refuse to suck dicks in offices from retarded bosses. I know a few amateurs who actually makes quite good money with their software.
Windows is unironically becoming the best development platform
Devs are abandoning macshit now.
is still microsoft, is still a piece of shit software
>some amateurs programmers do great things, that paid developers never dream.
Like what exactly? Some obscure driver for Linux? Stop bullshitting.
>retarded bosses
That's what all spergs who can't socialise in the workplace say.
>Like what exactly? Some obscure driver for Linux? Stop bullshitting.
start looking at github, first. you either are retarded or idiot.
>That's what all spergs who can't socialise in the workplace say.
Some peoples are actually free.
Clearly you are not one of them.
Also workplace != socialize. You probable have a rat life, never meet peoples outside job, we get it.
explain
>start looking at github
>doesn't post his own github
You're worthless.
>You probable have a rat life
Excessive projection. You're so shallow. I talk with clients and write code on a whiteboard. Monkeys like you spend all day memorising other people's code. Get bent.
>write code on a whiteboard
i know where you come from, no thanks
Okay have fun scraping together enough cash for food and daydreaming all day.
>not doing all your programming in nano
i am doing quite fine actually, my apps sells like hotcakes, i am not sure what the fuck you are talking
Great, can you link me the sources? I wanna make a quick ripoff and make an easy buck this sunday.
I work with webdevs and they all use vscode
are you the guy who work in office and suck bosses dicks?
There was a war? Sorry been too busy using ST3
thanks but no thanks I prefer geany.
I only dev in C/C++ btw.
No, I'm the guy who outs credit stealing frauds like you and has enough money to spin you on my finger. I knew you don't have shit to show.
Quick tip, brush your teeth more often. I've met enough people like you when I graduated.
damn, i was thinking you never graduated
Are you 6?
>spin you on my finger
no shit dude, you must be rich.. sucking dicks pays off seems
>sucking dicks pays off seems
ie every successful woman ever.
They're both garbage
Proton is the worst thing to happen to desktop programs. Now every program is basically a fucking web browser with the ram usage to match.
>has enough money
keep dreaming little slave
For simple edits gedit wins hands down. And builder is a damn good IDE now.
based and redpilled
>Proton
>using microshit
pahleeeeease
Thankfully, I'm not around to smell your hard sweating.
how much better is it compared to VS2017?
go back to job user, you boss is calling you
Are you making a lousy bait?
Out of the box, VSCode has literally no productive features. Just a blank screen to write colorful words on. Then you install the C/C++ plugin and still have to configure the shit out of it.
VS2017, just press the F keys do to everything.
I'm not baiting, i'm new to this shit
VS is heavy as fuck and I have a shitty pc
If you have 512mb of RAM and
Excuse me.
>there is an option to turn that off
Do you really think it turns it off completely? It's Microsoft.
ITT spastic office drone and freelancing autist have a dick fencing competition
im not spastic i just had too much coffee and cant concentrate so for now im writing on Jow Forums
it's open source
> *blocks your path*
heh, nothing personal kiddo.
>atom
OH NONONONONO
Atom is somehow worse despite being built with the same bloated technology and having a headstart of a couple years.
/tread
you might just *BUY* an actually good editor like 010 editor or UltraEdit
>hurr you can't disable telemetry cus itz microsoft!!! xD
>having to edit your hosts file to prevent a "free" program from spying on you
WOW MICROSOFT IS AWESOME I'M GONNA INSTALL WINDOWS BRB
For me, it's the IntelliJ IDEA.
>*rips off network card*
Damn, that was easy. Always those people complaining about them botnets.
>spending hours editing several configs for a single free as in freedom program to get it to work the way you want is absolutely fine
>adding a few lines to another file for a "free" program is suddenly too much
I actually unplug my ethernet cable or turn off the wifi switch before booting into Windows, so yeah, I'm right there with you user.
honestly, that says more about most other free editors than it says about VS Code
based
Why not skip the hassle and install Linux, wtf
What can emacs do that vi can't? It can't edit files good like libreoffice.
There is in emacs C-a. That's a thing vi can't do.
That hunk of junk?
Rkd
its sad how good Xcode is actually.
>angry that a program utilizes his ram
>doesn't know ram was meant to be utilized
OMG A PROGRAM IS USING MY RAM, WHAT DO I DO, I'M SUPPOSED TO BE AT 1% USAGE.
Close your unused programs if you need all your ram, youre supposed to have 8gigs-16gb in this era, stop being a poor faggot.
h-hey guys..
Sublime would be the hands down winner if it were FOSS and you all know it.
If sublime were FOSS it would have been turned to shit by some idiot long ago
and then no one would had used the fork that idiot created...
I'm not going to lie, I love VScode more than any other editor I've ever used and it's the only one I've truly bothered to fully learn because of that.
I do think its current and long term longevity would be secured if it was a native application (fug chromium) written in C.
I usually have chrome running (with a shitload of tabs), spotify client and vscode all at the same time and If I open up any other even slightly RAM hogging program my system will PAGEFILE and the Disk usage shoots up to 100% for minutes.
Fuck spotify more than chrome + Vscode combined tho
Oh gee hey,
that looks like VS Code with no extension support!
Sure ... That kept OpenOffice from turning to crap. Oh, wait...
>openoffice
??
What year are you living in my dude?
Does this shit ever go on sale? I can easily afford it but I still feel bad paying $80 for it
Paying for things that don't actually exist is bad in itself.
What? The software exists
>hear vs code is the bomb
>install vs code to try it out
>warns me about telemetry when I start it up
>into the trash
VS code is the most glitchy software I've ever used in my entire life, honestly. I think it's got something to do with electron. Then again, atom doesn't have this problem.
There's a number of issues open in Github even now in this matter.
