No you don't because if you disable javascript you get the javascript free captcha. Only inconvienence is that you cannot use the catalog without javascript, but the index still works.

No. It's not. That's not the goal of Openbsd. Openbsd aims to be secure. Some safety is good like ublock. But "protecting" yourself by disabling js isn't really an option in the modern web and disregarding the rest of the attack surface of the browser and only targeting js is just inconsistent.
But there are actually things you can do to improve your security. Unironically, and seriously switch to chromium. The way chromium was designed from the start, processes and permissions are isolated. With the recent creation of pledge, permissions are pledged too. It's not perfect and there is more work to be done. Soon you will be able to restrict the files that chromium can access using the upcoming unveil syscall. Firefox does almost nothing in terms of modern security and has no plans of doing so. Seriously, using Firefox on openbsd is a sin. Just watch Theo speak, he speaks pretty highly of chromium in this regard and makes jokes about trying to pledge Firefox (currently impossible because it can call any syscall and open any file anywhere at any time).
tl;dr: using Firefox over chromium is unironically a sin in openbsd.
