The two first movies are just the show itself, I don't think they even cut out anything, or added anything for that matter, so those are definitely not worth rewatching.
The third one is bad, but not because it itself is bad, but because of it's context.
Without giving too much away, the series concluded very nicely, everything was resolved and it was more or less a happy ending.
The 3rd movie takes the nice bow the ending was wrapped in and forcibly rips it apart to reopen the wounds that have healed nicely.
I say you can watch it, because in and of itself it's not bad, just make sure to keep pretending that it ended where it ended in the series.

This is in a nutshell what I know, which is why I've put off watching it for now.
I've seen the endless eight before watching the Haruhi movie because people said "you need the context" and I don't want to get baited again.

It's nothing as outrageously idiotic as endless eight (and fuck everyone who says they liked it), it's sort of like if in snow white it ended in a happy ever after and then suddenly the witch is back and she reverses time so she gives snow white and even MORE poisonous apple so the prince has to stop her from going back in time and that story ends at a stalemate. and also the dwarves show up to deliver some shaft dialogue.
People have different opinions on the movie, but I personally found it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth because of the fact that it reopens a story that ended very nicely, it's a bit "we only made it because filthy, smelly otaku kept throwing money at us" for me.
Also, expect this movie to not really end, it's one of those endings where it's left wide open for the inevitable next movie which will come out sometime after the death of the sun.

I only realized how bad the movie butches the story after re-watching the series afterwards. It had a perfect ending.
