he was walking along the tracks, the train was coming from behind him, he may have been thinking it's CIA niggers trying to spook him so he paid no need to it, then eventually he turned around, saw what was coming, had a "deer in the headlights" moment while his brain was busy talking to God and couldn't react in time. the driver would have rightly enough thought it was suicide, because any sane person would have had enough time to react. he obviously didn't know Terry's condition.
