Is this the perfect portable storage solution?

Is this the perfect portable storage solution?

Not only is it faster than a regular USB 3 drive, it's also cheaper overall.

>faster than regular USB 3 drive.
Yes, but you still are using it with USB 3, so the speed is the same, dumb cunt.

What the fuck is m.2

this, fucking retard

Google and lurk moar

>faster than a regular USB 3 drive
0/10

why the fuck are you here?

The IOPs are better than your average USB 3.0

>Implying any regular flash drive will max out the USB3 bandwidth
They all run in the neighborhood of 300MB/s

While most modern m.2 sata drives run at ~500MB/s, it also won't be bandwidth limited since it supports USB 3.1

Reading from it and writing to it is the same as any USB 3. You're still limited by the actual interface the same as you'd be over SATA.

USB 3.1 = 10 Gbps = 1.2 GBps

USB 3 = 5 Gbps = ~600 MBps

>everythingusb.com/speed.html
You can easily get >200 MBps speed on USB 3.1.

To learn about technology. Some fags always bring it up in my CompTIA A+ class

>Reading from it and writing to it is the same as any USB 3
Maybe on gen 1 USB which 5 Gbit/s while these drives are 6 Gbit/s, meanwhile USB 3.1 is 10 Gbit/s which won't limit it at all.

But the main point is that the flash and controllers in normal USB drives suck a lot more than M.2 drives which are meant for regular use and they will be faster.

idk go buy one and benchmark it and write a blog about it then post it on hacker news

>it's also cheaper overall.
Not really. You have to add/factor in $30-$50 extra for usb card and or enclosure ontop of your m2 card.

Also - muh usb key vs. a small cellphone sized dongle hangign out of muh laptop...

It is for high capacity, of course it's stupid to buy an enclosure for just 64GB.

But take a look at 1TB options, this will not only be faster and cheaper but also a smaller form factor than the bulky USB

>That Kingston drive
Holy shit. That summabitch is THICC.

perfect for my thickpad

This, but with thunderbolt.

Looks flimsy as fuck.

You've never heard of theoretical speeds, user?

Nice, it comes with a free buttplug for hamsters

Looks cool, but doesn't exist.

>the speed is the same
Looks like the dumb cunt here is you. Regular drives are limited by the crappy flash, not the protocol.

The problem with flash drives (all but the highest-end ones) is write access time, not linear speed. You try to write a shit ton of small files on them and the speed instantly drops below USB2 values. SSDs do not have this problem unless you buy the oldest chinkiest one available.

Oh and if you think 11 MB/s is still okay check this out

How do you plug that on a laptop?

USB flash drives use shittier technologies than m.2 drives. The throughput is lower even though the bus supports much higher speeds.

This is bait, right? You can't be that retarded?

You plug the laptop into it.

>americans can buy a 1tb evo for less than 200 usd
god i hate whites

>SATA SSD
Might as well use a normal one in a HDD enclosure.

I hope you defragment the shit out of that ssd.

cheers.

This. Next thing you know they'll strap PCI express cards onto a thunderbolt cable....

ohwait

Nice
