Forgive this newfag - Computer Build Challenge

Alright. I have $4k to build my first gaming rig. What are y'alls recommendations on the computer. The 4k doesn't include peripherals. I have extra for those.

So what build would y'all do if you had the money?

Threadripper, dual 1080 Tis, and a diamond encrusted case. But seriously OP, how much money do you actually have?

$4590 give or take a few dollars after I'm done with basic.

Ryzen 2600X, 2x 2080 Ti, CL14 3200 DDR4, 2x Samsung 1TB M.2 (RAID 0)

Intel i5 8400, GTX 1060 6gb, 16 gb ram, some 60-120 bucks gaming mouse and some 50 bucks keyboard

4 2080ti's

Spend $2k on a rig and invest the rest in a roth IRA. If you already have that then invest it in something else.
Anything else and you're a retard.

I have a 401k and Roth IRA thanks to being in the Air Force. I leave for boot Monday. Won't have to worry about money for a while and always wanted my own gaming rig. Thus coming here to get recommendations.

If you're already too dumb too google, at least annoy the people who care

Because I've never built a PC before you cum stain. If you read the thread before you type maybe you wouldn't have signed up for having that nigger Tyrone fill your ass with his cum every Thursday night and putting you in a shit mood

Spending anything past $2k or so gives you negligible gains.

Threadripper 2990wx + 2x Titan RTX + 128 gb ram + 100 terabyte NAS server

I hope you get stationed in 29 palms in a barracks with no ac

Tempting... Verrryy Tempting

I see. Thanks for letting me know

For such a large budget you're awfully retarded

Are you retarded? Stop your larp and just close the browser then.

Logical increments. Google that.

I love when y'all don't read the thread. I've never built a computer before. I have such a large budget since I don't know what parts cost.

Thank all y'all for helping me find a price range and the couple who gave a few builds

I did this when I got out of basic and it's a fucking waste. Focus on your tech school and training, go to the gym, don't give yourself a financial excuse "because you bought a computer" to seclude yourself from what tech school can be. Go out and drink, party with others, visit the local area, but save buying a pc for your first duty station. Trust me. I went through basic right when black flag came out and I wasted a shit ton of time I could have been making friends. It's a small military, and you'll know your basic / tech school mates forever.

Good to know. Thanks

4k is really overkill and doesn't offer you much more than a 1k PC. Don't burn your money user.

Thanks user

Have YOU even clicked the link I posted above? We have a general for faggots like you. Literally if you'd just searched pc and building in the catalog you'd have found it and not wasted another thread.

>Inb4 hur dur I was only acting retarded
Just kill yourself, if you're seriously related in any way to work at the air force, God help us all.

Have fun in San Antonio.

I'm going to answer your question and also recommend you something else.

For a bitching gaming rig you will want fast single thread performance.
Go for a ryzen 2700x cpu
compatible motherboard
nvidia 2080 (it will support raytracing and be able to handle VR)
16 gb ddr4 3200 ram
500 gb ssd
256 gb m.2 nvme
1 tb hdd
144hz 1440p GSYNC monitor (i have the dell, it works great)

my honest suggestion-
pick up a used laptop with a 1070, g sync 120hz, and recent non hyperthreaded cpu off craigslist. You will be able to take it and set it up far easier.

for a man who has at most $4000 to play with, this is a shit build. He could easily max out most things and still have some left over.

You see all these faggots in the thread, OP? They're all pussies. They're cowards. They keep telling you to spend a fraction of the cost of what you have. They're from Jow Forumspcmasterrace, who are all still stuck with their Sandy/Ivy Bridge CPUs, 8gbs of DDR3 RAM, and their GTX 1060s, with their 128GB SSD boot drives. All because "thats all they need to play at "max" settings". Fuck them. You want excess for 4000 bucks? You want the highest end? Here you fucking go.

For max gayming potential you don't even need to spend over 1k. 1070ti and any processor above a second gen i5 will max out anything you want it to.

>pairing a 1070 ti with some Ivy Bridge/Haswell bottleneck

fucking kill yourself you micro-stuttering faggot

Intel version if you aren't down with AMD like that, OP.
pcpartpicker.com/list/fWHPvn

desu the 1950x doesn't really compare with the i9-7900X in regards to pure gaymen, and I bet you're not the type to use CAD or Maya or some shit like that

>m-muh bottleneck!
He's just playing stupid fucking vidya, as if that baby shit will max out any quad core made in the last 5 years.

He's paying 4 grand for it fucknut, he's not going to scavenge on ebay for a used 90 dollar i5 3570k thinkcentre from a recycling plant
just because you're poverty stricken, doesn't mean you can't let the man spend what he has on what he wants

You're right, he should totally blow all 4k and dumb game shit and not invest anywhere else. He doesn't all your fancy jew trick bullshit to run some shitty AAA games whose requirements are just going to fucking plateau soon anyway. Consider suck starting a shotgun.

>caring this much about how another man spends his shekels
>le epik jew meme

>d-do I belong here yet guise
kek, what are you sleeping with the guy? You married to him and worried about your finances? Go hit the showers user, hit the weights, have sex and get fucking a clue Get a life for fucks sake user.

>"H-He should invest it!1!!
Okay Mr. stock broker big shot wall street faggot, what should he he invest it in? Jow Forums passes? Waffles? Reddit Gold?
Fuck off.

It's like you don't even know how to read what OP was talking about, he doesn't need to spend 4k and only listed that amount because he didn't know how much it would cost as shown

Whatever povertyfag, see you in 2025, when you finally get a 4670k upgrade from the trash bin

What was your recruiting process like? What made you choose the military?

>spend twice as much as you will ever benefit from
Is running benchmarks really that fun for you? Ill gladly enjoy the same real worl performance as you while putting my extra money towards my other hobbies. Sorry for assuming someone else is this sensible.

you can enjoy it at 1080p medium settings with textures set to low, poorfag

post your speccy

My recommendation is not to spend $4000 on your computer. Get a powerful CPU, get a middle of the road GPU, and do your research on good brands for components. Your system won't be worth half of what you put into it after just a couple of years, so save the rest for later. Top of the line is rarely needed unless you're doing some crazy bullshit.

i would get server grade stuff at this price

idk if you're memeing or not but don't do it they don't even have dual-card support yet

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

You shouldn't be spending much more than 1k on a very nice computer. Depending on your living situation, you could invest in nicer desk/chair/monitor(s)/sound system. But if you're in the service or have to live on base or in any shitty housing (or rent a place across country) or any other bullshit, it's stupid to waste too much on that. Get a nice, but basic desk/chair/monitor, and a decent computer, maybe a laptop, and you shouldn't be spending more than 3k, and that's pushing it. 4k+ is for enthusiast/early adopter/computer geeks. You're obviously not that. You may become that, but not yet.

Hell, for 3k you could get a computer, desk/chair/monitors/laptop and an xbox1 or ps4 whatever you like more. And you can carry that with you as you move much easier and play with your army friends and your canadian girlfriend. You'll thank me later.

Unironically, OP, what is your actual use-case for this build going to be? Gaming? Streaming? Workstation? Just want to make gearporn enthusiasts mad? Lemme hear those reasons babe

Liberal estimate: $1200 w/monitor
I had to turn down AA in DE:MD 1 tick to run it at 1440p/ultra, and of course i recommended a 1080ti to OP instead, so its not an issue

Attached: 20180914_001037.png (705x498, 98K)

i was going to shit on you user but I have that same CPU and motherboard.
Fair play.

what branch/rate/mos.

t. navy nuke. i bought all of this solely cause i could.

fuck user cool that threadripper jesus

>stripped the standoff screwin on my PC case

Kill me.
HELP

Being completely transparent, i threw this PC together for $500 and upgraded it when actually had enough money. I bought everything on sale, skimped on the CPU i really wanted, only got 8gb of ram, got a 1tb HDD and supplemented the rest of my storage with used laptop harddrives, temporarily has np GPU and only had my ancient 1680x1050. If i had the budget I wanted, it would be a 100% of components would be different, but knowing what I know now, i definitely wouldn't go "top of the line" except for my GPU and PSU

Attached: 1536734551399.png (500x328, 214K)

>optical drive
very nice

Fuck man, I got both that CPU and mobo, 16 GBs of DDR4, and the OEM version of the evo 960 1TB SSD for like 50 bucks from my manager.
You got a good deal though.

Could be the offset.

As other anons have said, $2000 will get you a computer that can do just about anything other than suck your dick and logical increments will give you a quick rundown of the parts you'll need. You can save the rest for anything else you want.

Threadripper is a nicetie and overall better and more value for money than Intel processors but if I was building a pure gaming rig I'd rather use Intel. So which processor you use depends on whether you're going to use it for anything much other than gaming.

Don't spend over 2k on a pc, more you spend worst they age.

$4k is way too much for a gaming rig. you can build one that runs everything on ultra with half that. unless you want to get into meme shit like VR or 4k gaming. then $4k is barely enough for a baseline system.

Build your rig around the monitor you want to and can use !

enjoy 20fps in PUBG

buy a ryzen 2600 + gtx 1080 build for $1K, and spend the rest on hookers

buy a bike instead mate

Threadripper
Double 1080 Ti, RTX is a meme
64 GB of RAM
Future proof for the next decade

oh my god i really like the way that guy installed his graphic card
who needs a new case if you can just cut a hole in it right?

Save your money until you've arrived at your first duty station. You're going to feel really silly travelling cross country on a bus/plane with luggage already stuffed to the brim with uniforms/clothes. Oh and a bunch of computer boxes bouncing around in the cargo.

>knows how to tech a nuke reactor but not how to cool his computer properly

Dual GPUs are a bad investment, they rarely give even 50% performance bump in the games optimized for them.

For CPU I'd recommend either new intel 9900k which should come out really soon or current ryzen 2700X
Go threadripper if you are creative professional

For GPU Vega 64 for best Linux performance
GTX 1080 ti for windows gaming
RTX 2080 ti if you're an early adopter

Samsung NVME SSD's are the best.

Dell ultrasharp monitors have the best colors/angles, don't know about 60+ hz ones.

X470 Taichi is the best Ryzen board ATM.

For cases you can't go wrong with Fractal or NZXT.

For PSU look up PSU tier list on google.

For cooling: despite awful colors Noctua is the most praised one. Scythe is as good if available in your region. Don't go liquid, it's a waste of money.

For RAM - highest clock possible, Samsung B-die (look it up on google too).

This

The motherboards are non-standard size and often don't fit in practically any other cases. Welcome to OEM bullshit. This solution is more sane than you would like to believe.

>RGB

Build something for 1200 and do something more worthwhile with the rest like buying a used honda civic

pcpartpicker.com/list/RpfqNQ

>4k
if you are that dumb with money, send me the full 4k and i'll make you a custom hard pipe cooled skittles boat. You can buy the peripherals and cover shipping since you are so wealthy.

>He does not know that shitcy reads Ryzen with offsets

Attached: 8d6.jpg (645x729, 41K)

UPD:
It also seems there's a 2800X (10-core ryzen) coming.

16 gigs of ram is optimal, 32 if you are crazy.
Never buy one stick. Sticks should be the same for dual-channel to work properly. There's no quad -channel on consumer hardware.

Morning. Starting from the bottom.

Eat my ass and read the thread before you let the cum in your mouth drip out you fuck stick.

I've been looking at cars but I'll be tied to the motorpool on base for my job so it's gud

I have one. Got new rubber for it a while ago too m8.

Not planning on getting into meme shit for the next 3 years

USAF. Security Forces. E3 out of boot if my papers were processed correctly

Gaming + Streaming. Then after aboit a year or so I'm going to use it to head a cluster system and run physics simulations for something I'm making

I'm memeing

It was fairly easy. Sign some papers. Go to MEPS center and they see if I'm fucked up. Stay in a hotel and eat bomb ass burgers. Go the next day and take ASVAB and a personality test. Get my scores and then I swore in. That was a year ago. I was in DEP for my last year of school. For that I show up once a month and we get weighed and told not to do the usual shit. Now I leave Monday.

Hey dude. I did actually check out the link but I was looking for a more customized sort of build where I can interact with people and not read a dead thread. Let me recommend a link to you now:

www.pornhub.com

And I'll give you a hint this time. It involves "fucking" and "yourself" one of which you've never done onions boy and both of which you do everyday to Jow Forums bros

That should be everything for now. Tag me if I missed you and I'm gonna go make breakfast.

Attached: 1b8ceecfe3858a5b88a50071c22a0b20.png (700x525, 290K)

8 core ryzen cpu
16gb ddr4 dual channel
500gb or 1tb ssd (install windows 10 to this)
3-4 tb hard drive (for other files)
GTX 1080 (cheap right now) or one of the new cards RTX 2070 or 2080
750 watt Gold rated Power supply at least
Good motherboard not cheap one

Thanks. Looks like a nice build from my tiny understanding of parts

Just get a Pentium and a 1050ti. Save the rest or use it so thing good like hookers and blow

>64gbs of ram

Attached: 1536117519027.png (728x762, 431K)

>52c HDD's are Ryzen products

>Not planning on getting into meme shit for the next 3 years
In that case just get some midrange or budget shit for the time being that can last you 3 years before splurging 4k on a rig. Since you'll be
>going to use it to head a cluster system and run physics simulations for something I'm making
even a low end Threadripper and some midrange graphics card should be more than enough.

8700k
1080ti
32gb ram
32 inch 4k 60hz monitor

thats probably 1800-2000 dollars

spend 1000 dollars on SSD's and 1000 dollars on games during a steam sale.

Theres your 4k, prob 8tb ssd storage and 500 games, it'll play everything on high with aa off at 4k60hz ultra is a meme you dont need it.

Alternative would be to buy a 1080p or 1440p 144hz monitor and go that route, but i feel like this is only needed if you plan on playing fps/tps

Do not believe AMDrone's lie
intel still better at gaming
9900k+2080ti+16GB RAM

Cool. Ive been looking at some of the parts you guys have recommended. I'm thinking of going for a GEForce GTX 1080 Ti and vengeance LPX 32 gigs of RAM. As for memory I'm gonna get a 500 Gig SSD to hold my OS and a Seagate or Western Digital 4TB HDD for games and shit. As for my CPU I havent decided yet and I'm gonma snag a 750 W Gold power supply. I was wondering if y'all had any good ideas for a MOBO?

Gaming blackpill: spending 16x as much money on a computer will not let you have 16x as much fun as just buying a console.

Attached: 1536581338950.jpg (720x720, 49K)

Mann you're the 5th one so far. I threw that up there because I dont know what to budget on a computer build. Ive never built one before.

Also 16x? You only spent $250 on your computer? What are you a poorfag?

A PS4 costs $250.

So you have no input then? I'm not trying to buy a console. There are games you can't play on Xbone or PS4 and I already own them on steam. Plus I need the computer beyond gaming which you would know if you read the thread.

Get a used Thinkpad for $250 and a PS4 for $250. Then use the the remaining $3500 to go fuck some hookers you autistic virgin.

buy mid range new or a generation old used (got my gtx 980 for literally $150 on ebay rather than spending like $600 on a new 1080 that's like 15% faster) instead of blowing 4 grand on a game console for 15 year olds with rich parents. or you can be a faggot and spend $1k on a cpu that you won't task enough to notice the difference between it and a $300 i5 or ryzen.

>pic related
LOL, i planned on doing the same thing to my sff thinkcentre, nice

Not even my pic but go for it lol

You salty because you're a broke fag and your console got talked down to or what?

If you read the thread I've never built a computer before and have a 4k budget since I dont know what it would cost. And fuck no I'm not risking used parts. If I can just Build a new one at up to 4k (which I'm only gonna end up spending like 1200 on shit) why should I buy old and used parts. Plus what I plan on using it for needs the power

You're right in that Intel is better for gaming but he already said he won't only be using it for gaming so I doubt he should be getting an Intel processor.

Why not get lower end stuff that can still eaaily run games on ultra settings for the time being, until you're ready to get into the meme shit (like VR and 4k) that will actually require the specs? You'll save on $ now and later on have a bigger budget so you won't be stuck with entry level specs for that meme shit.

RAM and SSD look alright; while I've always fancied having SSD instead of HDD for storage, I guess that's up to personal preference.

Thought about doing this a few times, got an old i7 htpc that needs a decent graphics card...
