Programmers & Laptops

Are you satisfied with buying a premium laptop even thought you can basically code with a $200 laptop? Have you noticed an increase in productivity?

>you can basically code with a $200 laptop

Depends of what you code.

Why the fuck are laptop screens so bad in >currentyear
It's fucking retarded 1k aussie neetbux and I get a screen with 1366 x 768 resolution

Yeah, for every thing i code i need a premium pc, ide's takes alot of resources, running special PHP scrips require uses alot of ram. Developing games with unity you need gaming pc card. If you want to realy code anything you need a expensive pc.

thinkpad masterrace

writing HTML programs takes up huge amounts of RAM.

I use a desktop at home, I don't use a personal laptop. My work laptop is company-provided and as such is a Dell Latitude business model.

>not coding on a smartphone in 2018

I don't code on a laptop like a hunchbacked faggot.

Based

>running visual studio and Re# On $200 laptop

Yeah no.

And no I'm not going to be a vimautist. Only neets purposefully be less productive for hacker points that no one cares about. Except other NEETS.

>visual studio and Re#
i think i've found your real problem.

dog bless socialism

I just got a T480s at work, I'm pretty fucking happy with it.

> uses alot of ram
>PHP
Found your problem

HTML requires a text editor. Your system is misconfigured.

>visual studio
You shouldn't even be on Jow Forums.

>Developing with unity needs a powerfull PC

What on earth are you trying to program? dont run all debug tools at the same time.

What's even a good $200 laptop? I've had a hard time trying to find something that's just low power x86. I guess the problem is it seems like anything that isn't a $3000 macbook ripoff is like 16GB soldered in eMMC with no expandability and a single USB2 port.

If you dont move past projecteuler.net maybe, but if you're not a retarded faggot and actually do WORK then yeah there is a difference.
Faggot, but you're OP sp that goes without saying

What do you think of the Dell XPS 15? Need a solid notebook for work

Used ones

Is that your honest response?

>visual studio
user you reevaluate your life

>What's even a good $200 laptop?

X230/t530 or t430.
Really good machines.

I paid 400$ for t540p with i7 (real)quad core, 16gb ram and SSD.
It is all I need for webdev shit and C# VS.

When it comes to "productivity", it's all about the coder.
But OP doesn't care/doesn't know too much?

Yeah I meant to put in that's kind of a shit option too. I have an old Thinkpad and it sucks. It's a workstation so it has a 2 hour battery life, sounds like a jet engine, the bottom is like 50C, and it weighs 3 pounds, and yet being 10 years old I have to put lxde on it and can't use Firefox/Chrome or it will crash trying to page ram.

I want something that was designed to be cheap and power efficient, just not so cheap that it's completely unusable.

Yes.

I got a 4gb laptop with an i5 for 133 USD

Did I bargain well, boys?

Right now for python dev I'm using a $50 netbook and sublime 3. Works fine I guess.

>he fell for Brickpad meme

just buy some newer (2015+) ultrabook bussiness laptop (Thinkpad/Latitude/Elitebook).
I have Latitude E7450, Thinkpad equivalent is T450s, and it's great, lightweight, long battery and performs decent.
