Why does MPV suck? Using MPC-HC, you can play video files while they're being downloaded if you tell qbittorrent to download it from the beginning of the file.
MPV opens the file and starts playing it, but ignores all the pieces that have been downloaded since you opened the file, so instead of playing the (now completely downloaded file) it skips because it's still working with the version of the file that only had the beginning part downloaded, so you have to quit MPV and open the file again to make it play the rest of it.
You have to add file:// before path so that mpv treats the file as streaming
mpv file://yourincomplete.mkv
etc

Works on my machine, I do it all the time

>qBittorrent You can set uTorrent 2.2.1 to do the same thing and have a client that doesn't suck. You also don't have to click it each time that way.

MPV is for autistic neckbeards who want to spend their time writing a command line script every time they want to open a video file, just so they can claim a placebo-tier improvement in the picture quality of their underage-girl Japanese cartoons.
MPC-HC and VLC don't have this problem, and they play files just as well as mpv
>have access to the entirety of modern media for free >can't wait 3 minutes for your free 300mb """HD""" video to download >choose to harm the swarm instead by forcing sequential download >already know of an alternative that works >go on anonymous image board and complain about it
another great thread

I've never had this issue and do it with mpv all the time. Works on my machine.
I thought playing a not yet downloaded movie/torrent was pretty standard.

it doesn't work on his machine and his generalization has been outed against him, carry on

How do I get mpv to remember the volume I closed it with, or open with a different volume than 100 so it doesn't blast my ears each time I open a video?
